aha ok I understand what you mean but it is still punishment and I guess you guys wont make alot of new medival pilgrim friends now :p
 
Here's my minimap in year 1080 (I think):

I was able to trade world maps with Portugal. Doesn't work with anyone else, and they aren't 1 era ahead everyone else.

The only civs that I haven't met are Sweden and Novgorod. Too far north, never went there. Oh and Scotland and Ireland, never sailed that way, in fact I've never got one boat outside the Mediterranean, though I will send one around Europe and one around the Black Sea.

BTW I got a city in a peace deal with Poland, check out where it is. :lol:

:lol: :lol: Took me a while to find it but then I remembered how the AI settles.

Portugal has a unique tech, cartography, that lets them trade maps, I think its the special tech at the end of the first era that comes after feudalism.
 
That is a gigantic Romanian realm :)

Currently i am, finally, a tech leader, and reasearching strong armour so as to build armies of 6-3-2 knights.
Nothing else has changed, although i realised that there will be no work done in the border with the fatimids, due to their invisible units :S

Heh it's Sicilian in fact. :D But I tried to keep the city names as accurate as possible, so I guess it has many Romanian names in it.
 
I just finished a game with england... And I didn't like the longbowman at all, I wold rather be able to use late knights. Sure, it has more attack, but no defense at all, meaning you always have to build a longbowman and another unit to protect him (the knights at least have some defense value, enough to withstand some attacks).. I was playing for a conquest/domination victory, and it took me quite a while (but I did it finally)..I think it will be my last game with england. I would like to try some of the eastern civs next time, but I will wait for the next version (that is, no roaming assassins) before I do that...
And btw, any news from the scenarios front? I'm dying to give that 100-years war a tryout!
 
I got angry at those assassins so i decided to conquer all of the Arab civs.

Got great enjoyment out of it too:lol:

HYW is actually more or less finished. It's just a matter of final testing before releasing. The problem is that I'm on vacation from 10-18th July, so I really have to hurry if I need to finish that scenario.

I'm also considering waiting untill the next version is ready, so it will have all the changes in it included. Even then it probably wont take too long, since the update is close to finish too (unless ED has decided to add more stuff since last time I talked to him).
 
The khazars are about to overrun central Europe...

Also Novgorod is expanding, and Rus has become an island between two superpowers.

I am fourth in overall score, and probably third or second in military power. The other main players are the Fatimids (who just killed the abbasids), Novgorod and Khazars.

I will have built an army in 13 turns, when at last i shall also be able to recruit late knights. Currently i am in the middle of my italian campaign, and have conquered two sicilian towns. One more left to kick them out of their island :)

Then probably i shall have an epic war against the fatimids, provided that i can field at least two armies..

I've found that in most of my games the Fatmids love to kill the Abassids.

i started a new game as the turks and was able to conquer the arabs easily because they were fighting each other (and i had assassins this time:D )
 
Hi Im back n addin to the climbing post count for good reason this time (Im guessin :) )

I play Random map so this goes out to the many player likewise who may have ran into wee dilema on certain terrain areas.

First can I ever clear a swamp?!! and second can I ever plant forest!. The plant command is not on the pedia see:

LAst thing, Whats the dif between trained and untrained units? I notice I have both and havn't built any stables or barracks. Is it like concript? or is trained better then vetern

Serbia is doing ok, but has lost some cities. Moreover they are at war against the Khazars (black) which are one of the strongest players.
Probably i will have to declare war on the khazars if they take the final bulgarian city, although im not sure if they have peace with Bulgaria atm..

Do you suffer a dimplomacy hit if you destroy a nation entirely?

Trained= Regular
Untrained= Conscript :)

The actions are not in the civilopedia because they're not in game, so no, you can't clear swamps (the action is renamed and used to clear Woodlands instead) nor plant new forests (while forest preservation/regeneration existed already in the Middle Ages, filling whole squares with artificial forests would be unrealistic).

What about the swamp clearing and the planting forest? Anything Im missing on how to do it? -or is it all a know go the entire game (that would make no sence!)

I checked editer so pritty sure clearing swamp is impossable, but what about planting trees? ) my editer skills are not good and they may have made a workaround am not familiar with so don't think Im beng lazy

Look! This spot for a town is perfect!! ALL I need is to plant some trees for its foundations and I can connect this baby for a well needed boost to my internatinal trade network '!!!! :( :

Oh yeah, that was actually an even more important reason to disable forest planting (since originally it was available to two civs only) - to stop players from cheating by planting forests on tundras in order to build a city where it should not be built ;)

On the topic of marshes and things, would you consider removing the marsh from the persian gulf coast so basra can be settled there? I know there is marsh there in real life but if you get rid of it I can squeeze in more cities in between baghdad and the coast.:p :) ;)
