Medieval European Mod II 2016-10-05

Can you add a river or two in southern Greece?

Either in Larisa, Athens or Mistra.

As things are 4 (6 if you also count two islands which are ussually settled) cities in Greece are unable to expand beyond size 6, which makes the region a wasteland...

nice changes...even tho I rigth now love the assasins since I have them that "nerfing" was needed. the other changes feels good aswell.

I agree with Varwnos that if there are any lakes in Southern Greece please add some :)

last thing that maybe im not objective but please give the Tumen a higher defense I just hate it when some early age bowman or something kills them with no problems.... They have the same stats as the Keshik except for some hp and they get obsolete almost directly....but ye as I said im probably not objective :D

edit: speaking of Tumen, I just took my last Tumen loaded him in an army with him being elite, tumens 2 extra hp and being in an army gave alot of hp....

I made an evil laugh for myself thinking of all the harm it would cause....

It died on first encounter with a Mercenary guard (2defense)....
It sounds unbelieveble but it is a true...
I really wanted to quit and load from last saved in frustration over the obvious cheating done by the AI... but well it was to long time ago I saved...

The dawn of the final era saw the inevitable war between the kingdom of Serbia and the Byzantine empire.
They had sent some pikemen and crossbowmen in my territory and when i asked them to withdraw they instead chose to declare war.
Although the first half of it was not particularly eventfull (i conquered a city in Bulgaria, near Phillipoupolis), the end of it saw three landsknecht armies, along with ten more units, roam the southern part of Serbia, resulting to the conquest of their capital and one more city.
Also an army of ten aegian sailors managed at last to take the city in the island of Cephalonia.
Thus Serbia lost all of its territories (4 towns) south of the Danube, but i chose to give them the town in Croatia back, along with a tech, and agreed to a right of passage, which in turn caused them to not be furious anymore.
In this way the Byzantine empire has once again almost returned to its Basil II border, with added conguest in the east :)

Also notable is the ongoing war between Khazar and Novgorod.

My game keeps CTD. I chose the large map. Can anyone help pleae ?

I've also tried the smaller map and it also CTD after 3-4 turns.

Could very well be something wrong with the music.
Do you have custom music or sounds?

There's no real reason for CTD and no one else seems to have this probelm so it's hard to help. Also no music was bundled with the mod. You mean there's no message at all when it crashes?

What's your system, Civ3 version/bundle? Do you have sufficient memory etc. (mods like this need more even on small map) ?

Varw, is that turkey on that island?

You should conquer them, see how them turks like it when the byzantines are the ones giving the whippings:crazyeye:

:crazyeye: :crazyeye:

I played a game as the turks, and the last bastiosn of the byzantines was an aegean island, one which I couldn't attack until I got slavers....

I played a game as the turks where i nabbed constantinople pretty early on with bowmen:D The byzantines spent the rest of the game with only their gains in the balkans and i had byzantine emperor:king:

Man you would be shamed out if someone nabbed your capital and crowned themselves king on your country:p

I know you didn't include custom music, ED. But I was thinking Drakan might have added his own. A bad mp3 or wav will take the game right down without any warning.

Hi. No I didn't add custom music or anything else. I just installed the mod following the instructions. I have almost 2 GB memory, no problem there.

My civ version is the american one, it's the standard civ vanilla and the C3C expansion (it is not the "uncomplete" version or any other) patched to 1.22.

It crashes after 3-4 turns systematically either in huge or small map.

I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

I seem to having trouble getting dogpiles mid game.I know to counter it I need to form alliances but for some reason other nations are saying I'm a treaty breaker.
It happened in a game I was playing with the Germans. I had conqured france, burgandy, italy, sicily, denmark, bohimia, and pushed into some of poland and hungery, then not one nation would sign a treaty with me and everyone was furious. Dog pile or not I coulda pushed on since I had a 4 0r 5 tec advantage a crapload of ritters, and like 4 armies. It just kinda pissed me of that no one would deal with me. So I figured somewhere down the line I musta broke a right of passage agreement with out realising.
I really miss the way civ 2 would warn you when breaking a treaty. It's kinda hard when someone offers an Alliance and theres now way to doudle check treaties without canceling the offer first.
Anyway I grew tired of poor relations and started another game as the Byzantines. I was extra carefull not to break any treaties and actually had hungary and Serbia and bulgaria all graciouse in Diplo relations. I made dam sure to always war with the same nations. I sided with serbia in a war with Venice and allowed venice to conqur serbia. I then conqured venice. I did the same with bulgaria. Sided with them till they were distroyed (by burgundy) then turned it on against burgundy. In this fasion I was able to settle Greece and conqure the balkins.
My map looks like Varwnos' above except my balkans extent all the way to venice and I only have half of Turkey. Then the pain starts again. The Abbisids declare war and not one freakin nation will deal with me. And it's not over one broken treaty either . everyone seems too have a different reason. Castile is saying I broke a treaty with Portugal, Poland is saying I broke a treaty with hungery, and Italy is saying I broke a treaty with bulgaria.
WTH????? I never warred with Portugal or Hungary, and bulgaria delared war on me! I don't get it. Is it treaties or does the AI just hate you across the board at the midpoint. I'm really missing the Eiffel Tower from civ 2. The thing that sucks is I got an awsome empire and Constantinople is size twenty and the abissids are closing in with about 60 freakin archer and spearmen. I can't free up forces from the balkins cause the AI has takin it's typical "the world against me" stance, regardless of prior diplo relations. I'm just discusted puting all this time into this freakin game only to have the AI cheat yet again. To go from graciouse to furiouse in a blink of an eye.
Sorry for the long rant. I guess It's time for a game of civ 4 till I cool off.

Ok I noticed when you have ongoing trade relations with a civ that gets popped off, your relations with all other civs takes a hit.

I tested this when I knew a civ was about to get wiped off the map. I saved, then made a bunch of per turn deals with the soon-to-be-deceased, then checked round the board at my relation staus, all was nifty.

OK so I press the 'end turn' button and the civ gets taken out like expected. All of a sudden my rep is crap.

Sound evidence I figure some may find interesting if not helpful

I am waiting for the new version so as to start a game as Germany ;)

It is almost impossible now to conquer any fatimid town, since they have defensive units with a power of 5. My landsknecht armies might as well have been pikemen recruits; they just take out one defensive point before they die.
At this rate i would have to gather 10 bombards alongside 10 other units if i ever am to make any progress...

@ ED: what do you think about the added river in southern Greece?

btw: is there any tech that allows cities to grow past size 6 without needing to have fresh water near them?

Hmm,, very ineresting. I had trade relations with 3 nations that went under. That must be it. Well no more trading with pions.

There's a small wonder that can do that I think.

@Drakan
I'm out of ideas really. No one else has this problem and there's nothing else that I know of that could cause CTD. Is it the only mod that behaves this way for you?

@ununcle the treaty-breaker
Others pretty much summed it up, it's like Civ3 works, not just this mod, and I find it annoying as well. If a trade route is broken, even if it's not your fault, you'll be considered a treaty-breaker. Dogpiling itself is painful in the large map of Europe because it has 31 civs that are in contact with each other. Many of these civs are small and weak though, so it's possible to win still ;)

@Varwnos & Greece
Yes I finally had to yield ;) but I added one in Central Greece (between Arta and Lamia?), not Southern. As far as the fresh water goes, if there is no river or lake in the city radius at all, it will never be able to grow past size 6, unless it's a capital, then it gets the Royal Reservoir SW. This prevents unrealistic islands with city size 20, and adds some variety around the map!

I had some work to do for the past 3 days so I didn't really touch the mod, but I'm getting back to it now.
