Medieval European Mod II 2016-10-05

Now I planed three next games. CS (Jerusalem), Western Europe (Serbia) and MEM (large) (as Sicily). The last one should be fine... but here is the problem for the first two---> It still won't downloaded. For Crusader and WestEu stop somewere around 45% within same ERROR saying:
FILE NOT FOUND "art/advisor/basil_advisor.pcx" and - the game will now exit.

Whats wrong and can that be fixed? Can someone help me, please?

Also 13ct. won't load but with different error-> error reading file. missing entry in "scenarios/mem/text/pedialcons.txt". Icon_bldg_GW_kingdom of Jerusalem.

Thanks.

These files are in MEM patch 1.2. It appears you haven't installed it, or installed it in the wrong place. It's available in the first post, Downloads, "MEM II 1.2 Update" (46 MB)

Yes they were all there. I did downloaded to my comp but somehow I forgot to extract it. Thanks again.
PS I like your avatar.

Year: 1299

Cities under Novograd control: 38

Important dates since last update:
1263: Novograd entered Golden Age:).
1263-1283: Golden Age of Novograd. I used this push to complete many city improvements (universities, cathegdrals, castles, mills, guilds, etc.) as well as building up my military.
1279: Abbasids demanded "Pike" from me and I refused. Abbasids declared war:mad:. I called in markers from several nations and signed alliances against the Abbasids. Allied nations included: Khazaria, Sweden, Rus, Bulgaria, Turks, Fatimids, Amohads, Corovans, Germans and Hungary :D(I think). I basically let all these other nations fight for me because I had no intention of sending any troops into Abbasid territory (although they did control what was Poland). My GA allowed me to build up an army to use against Lithuania.
1283: GA ended and my troop concentrations were pretty complete. War was declared on Lithuania.
1283-1292: War with Lithuania. I took 8 cities (including 6 submerged in my territory and 2 along the west coast). I didn't bring in any allies because I wanted to be able to end this when I accomplished my goals. I purposely avoided doing much trading with Lithuania over the years to keep them as weak as possible. I managed to take the last fur resource, a couple of timber resources and a couple of amber resources on the west coast.
1294: Khazars made peace with Abbasids:sad:. I traded iron to them to begin the war again:).
1295-1298: Anarchy as I switched governments to Empire.
1299: Khazars made peace again with Abbasids:(. All of my other alliances came due and I ended them and made peace with Abbasids (I'm not sure if it was okay since I still technically had 15 turns to go on second deal (alliance) with Khazars, but they broke the agreement first:confused:).

I have pretty much caught up on tech development except for the Abbasids who are still ahead of me by 1 or 2 techs. I developed "Pike" and "Black Powder" in order to get back even through trades. I did pretty well selling either one or both of these to the nations I sent against the Abbasids.

The big problem I have right now is the Plague:cry:. It is present in about a dozen cities and with the anarchy from switching governments it is really doing a number on my garrisons and my population. If I can keep things together long enough to wait it out, I plan to attack Lithuania again pretty quickly. Until then I have to get my spending under control (although I do currently have 10,000+ gold in the bank mainly through trades and selling techs).

My military spending is about the same under Empire, but war weariness when I attack Lithuania again shouldn't be as much of a problem (I think I was beginning to see cracks under Feudalism in some cities before the switch and making peace). After conquering Lithuania I would like to switch to Constitutional Monarchy (I haven't tried this government in any of my games so far) to see how this works with the commercial trait and peaceful relations with everyone. I would like to play from the trade/science angle from then on (although "Empire" and a punitive expedition against the Abbasids is tempting). It looks like Germany and Sweden are erasing Abbasid-Poland from the map, so good for them. The Abbasids will still be very strong.

Also a few thoughts on my current game as Novograd.

The UU (I won't try to spell it) is a pirate that can attack other nations without fear of causing war automatically. However, another country can also kill it without fear of automatically causing war with you, too. Also the civilipedia says it can attack settlements and is amphibious, but I think this is only possible when you ARE at war with that civ. When I was at peace I couldn't attack settlements or do it amphibiously. In order to move these guys up to the border I had to send spearmen with them to avoid Lithuanian cavalry from crossing the border and getting rid of them. I will have to try to work out some strategies to use these guys effectively. I thought I might send a navy with some empty transports along the coast to try to capture some serfs/slaves. The only thing is, I think you do get the other civs angry when you do this. They just don't consider it an act worthy of automatic war (Lithuania went from Annoyed to Furious before I actually declared war). I guess you could send some transports to plunder improvements also.

In the pedia it refers to "Christianity" as an advance that will allow a civ to build the "Church of the Holy Sepulchre" wonder. Is this advance still in the game? I didn't see it in the tech tree anywhere.

Does the Plague effect a civ more frequently in higher difficulties?

I've tested this long time ago but from what I remember: Hidden Nationality units can capture cities without war but only from land. Ushkuiniks are amphibious still, but I guess these two features just don't work together.

It's a starting tech that all Christian kingdoms have, Novgorod included. You can build Church of the Holy Sepulchre once you capture "Jerusalem" (or whatever city is built in its location - see "Holy Land" resource).

Nope. Matter of luck + standard factors (city size, roads, harbors, walls).

I'm pretty sure I tried from land too, but maybe I didn't. I landed on a Swedish held Island off my west coast and still wasn't able to attack after actually landing (or at least I'm pretty sure I tried this because it didn't allow me to attack amphibiously and I had four of these guys to use).

Thanks for the info about Christianity and the Plague. I guess I will just have to hope the plague ends soon.

I think, that's a bug of C3C. The AI can capture cities without declaring war with a hidden nationalty unit, but the player can't do that.

Ahh, that's correct, thanks. And in that case it works amphibiously too. I guess a civilopedia clarification is in order.

I don't think it's in the Civilopedia...mabey someone should add it.

Hey Russ, still no screenies? :) A picture's worth a thousand words and all that...

I'd buy that picture book! But other that that I'm not sure what your point is... Perhaps raining cats and dogs means canines and felines descending from the sky in your neck of the woods?? :sarcasm:

Hey Russ, still no screenies? :) A picture's worth a thousand words and all that...

I finally figured out how to get the image and uploaded it to the civ3 screenshot gallery on this forum (I believe someone told me earlier you needed to do it this way). Do you have to import an image from the gallery or can you upload directly from your computer to a post:confused:? When I uploaded it in the gallery it said it would appear once a moderator had time to review it.

If you need to move an image from the gallery, how do you do that? Please excuse my ignorance about all this. Dealing with a non-windows program (civ3 in full screen) in these matters is a little outside my realm of experience:confused:. I can upload images to ebay, my blog, and the online product catalog I run at work, but this has been a little different then scanning or taking a pic of something and posting it. Once I get the hang of it I will post updates with screens everytime (I also believe a map/picture is worth a thousand words!:))

Thanks again for all the work that went into this mod:goodjob:! I am still losing sleep just about everynight over the last couple of weeks just from playing the two games I have posted about here.

I don't think you need to upload it to CFC, just upload to a place like www.photobucket.com and then copy the image code on your post.

Hope this helps,

MM

Another simple way to add screenshots is to use post attachments (see Manage Attachments at the bottom when you make a new post).

Yeah, it worked! I am quite a bit further along now, so I will try to post another image and update today or tomorrow.
