Whilst its a nice idea I don't think its very practical. Most posters seem to only visit parts of the forum and mods tend to concentrate on specific sections so how would you make a fair slection to pick just one person? It would need to be a member of the day or week per section.

It has its good and bad points. Some prolific Colosseum denizens would be unknown to that mob up in the Civ3 enclosure, and vice versa.

Yeah, it's just like this other gaming site I go to (not as often). Those of us that posted in one section (or game forum) didn't know who the others where in another, even if they had hundreds, or thousands of posts.

Not alot of people will know me because I only post in certain forums and particular threads...

xactly, not a lot of people will know me, although I'm around a long time and have more than 2800 posts :p

Yeah, the first time I looked at the top 25, I was like "Who are you?" :p

I thought willemvanoranje had gone somewhere. :p But there you are. :king:

I don't get too attached to most of the newbies in the Civ3 General Discussion. They usually don't last too long. :p

I stay away from Civ3, that place is evil... The Civ2 PBeM and Sports Talk forums are still quite small communities that I belong to, I think everyone knows everyone else in them forums. Off-Topic of course is just a mass spiral of posters that I have never heard of but apparently have 128630486 posts or something.

So basically it would only work for moderators, cos we can't and shouldn't distinguish other posters.

I don't mind anyway. Technically we shouldn't distinguish normal posters, but what would it matter if we do?

The idea on itself does appeal me. :)

If anyone wants to know about you though Matrix, then they can just visit your site at www.straland.com but I'm not sure that everyone here seeks the worldwide cyberfame you deserve. The picture of AoA on your collage shows that not even all the mods are willing to tell all to the world in a Hello-style interview and photo spread. Heck, remember the brouhaha when someone reckoned they had worked out TF's name was Todd?

Not too bad an advert I didn't think - cheque to the usual address please. :)

It's interesting to see the members when you try to fit their personas on the board...

 How many of you do know his real name? I think I can have a wild guess....:satan:

I think that people should be known by their contributions (posts).

Just because someone posts less than 1 a day doesn't mean they are worthless. If someone has several thousand posts they can still be posting spam with no real content. I don't mean people here, but I wandered in to COLOSSEUM and OT the other day and some of the people there almost put me off this site forever.

If you want to be better known, put a homepage link in your sig. Personally, I check out someones previous posts if I want to know more...

I agree, but people just posting one per day, with each post being a great contribution to the discussion, are just very, very unknown. A great politician is nothing without publicity.

I don't know anyone from the civ 3 forums I think. They're a bit too....I don't know...messy to me.
But this is still the best online place for CIV3 discussions. What to do? Stop playing the game, or just not talk about it to anyone...
