What do you think? Disabling thread/message icons would make the pages load a little faster.

If you don't know what I am talking about, thread/message icons are those smilies you pick for a thread/post to indicate your mood.

Yes, I think we do need them. I just love my smilies that appear with my post. I am sure many others will agree with me on this.

Suggestioin: should've posted a poll

Don't use them much, since I "quick reply" alot.

What's "a little" faster? ;)

They are not really necessary but they have a nice effect when used in the very first post in the thread (as you can see it in the forum display page then, or is that something else?).

I'd say keep them unless it would bring a big advantage.

Is he also talking about the 'quick click' box for smiles?

No, just those thread message icons that you can choose when creating a new thread or making a normal reply...

:D

Personally, I don't pay much attention to thread icons. The message icons on posts I look at a little more. I guess the question really is, as Hitro pointed out, what's "a little faster"?

If removing them would make noticeable improvements, then I say, Rip 'em out! But if the change is too slight to detect, then why bother?

Ok, that's what I thought. I think people were blending those and smiles together.

From what I can tell, about 95% of people don't even use them and I think every little bit helps.

They are usefull for "tagging" a thread you want to find later.

However, if it would help the site to go faster, I can go without. :D

I feel overwhelming apathy on the subject. If that is possible :D.

I never use them at the beginning of a post, but I find them useful as indicators of the mood of a thread when I am viewing the list.

I say keep them. Besides, there hasn't been much of a problem with forum slowdown since that RAM upgrade, has there?

Each thread having a smiley is unneccesary. But doesn't matter to me either way. I pick the same one everytime. :goodjob:

I can't find it on a list...

:smug:

That brings us to our next topic...when is TF gonna add the smug smiley to the list of user smileys!????? :D
