Met a child prodigy today

Is there a relation between autism and intelligence? I have been trying to find any studies on it, but my studies searching skills are severely lacking.

Not specifically. By Jake's own admission, his memory is rather poor. It seems some areas got a boost at the expense of others.

I am intrigued by the seeming isomorphism between exponentiation and his geometric arrangement of triangles, if that's what it is.

It's a question of interest and what holds their autistic fascination. At one point, I memorised the first fifty-seven elements of the Periodic Table, but it didn't actually serve any useful point, so I promptly forgot all but the first ten - Hydrogen, Helium, Lithium, Beryllium, Boron, Carbon, Nitrogen, Oxygen, Fluorine, Neon. Even so, I routinely forget to go to bed on time.

Yeah it seems from what I've read, autism isn't likely to make you any smarter, at all, but if you happen to be autistic and really smart, your focus is so narrow that you are likely to hyper-excel.
Nicely put.

Exactly- this is how we are all equal. I myself have asperger's syndrome and am great and some things yet horrible at others.

Aspies of the world unite! We have nothing to lose except our inhibitions!

I remember them with the following phrase: Hungry hamsters like beating big Canadian nightsticks on Frank's nose

I can't remember the full name, but the abbreviation of those elements are easy to remember. From 11 onwards: Na, Mg, Al, Si, P, S, Cl, Ar, K, Ca. Here is where my memory stops for those transition metals, I only remember Fe 26.

Sodium, Magnesium, Aluminium, Silicon, Phosphorus, Sulphur, Chlorine, Argon, Potassium, Calcium. :D
