Have you ever seen a meteor shower? Pics to share with us?

One is reported over Norway later this evening.

I saw a meteor shower several years ago. It was one of the most beautiful things I had ever seen.

I've seen the end of one, the leonid shower, a friend of mine with an amatuer passion for astronomy dragged me out in the cold to watch the end when the clouds miraculously cleared at 1am in the morning, it was pretty amazing but we only saw the tail end unfortunately.

I've seen one last year. Managed to spot about ten meteors. It was nice, but not spectacular. I guess watching it from the middle of Tel Aviv doesnt do much good.

I've seen several. In northren alberta we usually had perfect weather conditions to watch the showers

I've seen a single meteor in a meteor shower, but not a meteor shower. (weather issues)

I try and check out the meteor showers each year they come round. The leonids are usually good as are the persids (sp?). One particular year I will always remember, the persids were particularly spectactular with streaks of light across half the sky and often several meteors visible at the same time. During another shower to my surprise (and disbelief until I saw it mentioned on the Sky at Night) I saw a green meteor, there were not that many meteors in that shower but the green one certainly sticks in my memory.

Green? Do you know why it's green? Or is it still a mystery?

Maybe something to do with the chemical composition? Perhaps for the same reasons colored fireworks can burn green?

/wild speculation.

Afterthought: Aliens are green right? Does anyone know what color they burn? :p

Link to dates for 2006 meteor showers. The Perseids in August is usually pretty good.
