MIC2 - Lightning Chinese Riders

MIC2-1050AD.jpg

Very nice microbe!

I dont think we are allowed to found inside. I just founded the towns directly on the border to the AI, but never inside and think that is closest we should do.

Edit: If you try to destroy India, don't forget the Indian town on the small isle, the cavalry should still be there.

i probably can't play till tomorrow night (gotta finish digging a ditch and tree planting) so, imho, gozpel can have 1 more day if he wishes.

I'm up everywhere, can you take this one grahamiam and I play after you?

i'll try to do it tonight as i'll probably be up in a couple tomorrow. due to rain, the shovel and pick had to rest for the afternoon so i should be able to give this a good shot.

Preflight check: war started in 1040AD so I will declare peace on or before 1130AD.
We have 1158g and make +676gpt so I’m gonna rush granaries/muskets to speed the cav builds. We only have 22 right now and probably could use about 10 more very quickly. I also rush 3 of the cheaper temples. I really need cities up to 20spt for this to work well so I will focus on getting the core RR’d as well as lines to the front.

Find some fortified workers around Beijing. Wake them and start building RR’s on the BG’s there.

Wake an elite Cav in New Chinan and kill the longbow next to the city with an elite cav (3/5). No MGL.

We are at 34% land and 54% pop.

IBT: a stack of 2 indian rifles and 2 mdi move between New Shan and New Chinan; 2 cav’s are completed.

T1: 1060AD Cannon misses Indian rifle outside New Chinan; Take Indian town of Jaipur with an elite cav., getting 3 more workers. New Chinan’s cav’s are very hurt so I won’t instigate from there and our cav corps are very thing so I’ll hold tight this turn.

Find a caravel in Tatung and send it to gather our long lost cav on the mongol island to the East.

Leader hunting: Attack Indian stack with healthy rider army in New Shan., killing both rifles (7/14). Use the elite AC in New Shan to attack the reg MDI and it redlines it but then loses 6 straight and promoting the MDI (2/4); elite cav from New Chinan attacks MDI and kills it (3/5); another elite cav attacks 2/4 MDI and kills it.

rush a temple in San Fran to try to pinch some resourses

IBT: 7 new cav complete, Indian rifle near New Chinan moves onto our iron.

T2: 1070AD Near New Chinan: cannon misses rifle.
Attack on Karachi: Cav army kills vet rifle (8/14); vet cav kills reg rifle (2/4); vet cav retreats from vet rifle (2/3); vet cav retreats from reg rifle (2/3); vet cav kills 2/3 rifle (2/4); vet cav retreats from 2/3 rifle; vet cav kills 2/3 rifle and promots (2/5); vet cav kills MDI flawlessly; elite cav kills longbow and we take the city + 2 slaves
Move settler and Crusader from New Chinan up and will have to settle NE of Karachi to get access to Lahore.

Elite cav kills a longbow outside New Chinan.

Rush the army in Nanking for 934g.

Pick up 2 cav and a worker from the island.

IBT: Indian rifle pillages the iron near New Chinan, not that we really care.

T3: 1080AD Sell improvements and abandon Karachi, found New Kaifeng. Notice that the Mongols have moved a nice sized SoD to their wines, east of Washington. Load 3 vet cav’s into our new army and move it N.

IBT: a war elephant cruises S from Dehli. Mongols re-up peace treaty which I reluctantly accept. In a separate deal, I sell them spices for WM, 8gpt, and 2g. In a 3rd deal, I sell them Ivory for 9gpt.

T4: 1090AD Attack on Lehore: Cav Army kills 2 rifles (8/14); vet cav retreats from rifle; vet cav kills elephant; Army kills 2/3 rifle (5/14) and we take the city.

Attack on Dehli: cav army kills 2 rifles (11/13); vet cav dies to rifle (2/4); vet cav retreats from rifle (3/4); vet cav retreats to rifle (2/4); vet cav retreats to rifle (3/4); vet cav redlines but dies to rifle; vet cav redlines but dies to rifle; vet cav retreats from rifle (2/3); vet cav dies to rifle (2/3); vet cav dies to rifle and promotes it (3/4); elite cav retreats from rifle (2/3); elite cav kills ¾ rifle; elite cav kills elephant (2/5); elite cav kills 2/3 rifle; Rider Army kills 2/3 rifle; Rider Army kills 2/3 rifle; 2/4 rifle left on top. Attack stalls.

Near New Kaifeng: ¾ cav kills longbow flawlessly and promotes
Near New Chinan: Rider Army kills War Elephant

IBT: Egypt and India sign a trade embargo against us. Indian request an audience and offer 20gpt + 79g for peace but I tell them to hold that thought. Didn’t look like any reinforcements made it to Dehli. Palace gets a west wing. Rut-row, volcano next to Knossos becomes active and starts smoking.

T5: 1100AD Attack on Dehli: Cav army kills a rifle but is hurt very badly and loses 10hp (1/13); vet cav redlines but dies to vet rifle; vet cav retreats; elite cav redlines but dies to vet rifle; elite cav dies to rifle; RR up to New Chinan so I can get new cav builds in on the attack; vet cav dies to ¾ rifle (2/4); vet cav dies to 2/4 rifle without scratching it and lets it promote; elite cav kills that bastard rifle; vet cav kills conscript rifle and promotes (4/5); elite cav kills redlined rifle; 4/5 elite cav dies to redlined rifle and promotes it; vet cav retreats from same rifle; vet cav kills that rifle and we take the city + smith’s + sistines + pyramids + cannon very powerful city.

As much as I love Dehli, I think it’s too high of a flip chance right now so I move 2 settlers up so we can found new towns next turn and take Bombay and Calcutta.

Sell the improvements in Lahore and disband the city. Build New Ningpo on the exact same spot so a Cav Army can heal. Move the 1/13 Cav Army to New Macao so it can heal.

Rush various stuff so we can get 9 more cav next turn.

T6: 1110AD Since Delhi is such a nice city, I decide to risk it and keep it for now. I want to reduce flip chances so I have to take Bombay and Calcutta now. I have an idea.

Found New Paoting W, NW of Delhi. Move settler NE of New Paoting and disband that city. Found New New Paoting. Notice Calcutta is on a hill so I hold of attacking till I get more cav.

Attack on Bombay: Cav army kills regular rifle but is badly injured (5/14); vet cav retreats without scratching the rifle; vet cav kills rifle and promotes to elite (3/5) and we take the city.

Attack on Kohlapur: RR to Atlanta and then launch from there. Vet cav retreats from vet rifle (2/4); vet cav kills vet rifle (2/4); vet cav redlines but dies to reg rifle; vet cav retreats from reg rifle without scratching it; vet cav kills said rifle (2/4); Rider Army kills 2/4 rifle but is badly injured (5/13); elite cav kills redlined rifle and we take the city

Move some obsolete units into Delhi to try to quell resistance. I also turn the governor on to hopefully prevent a riot if all resistance ends next turn.

Rush 2 settlers.

IBT: ¼ cav is killed and Delhi flips, taking 1 Rider Army

T7: 1120AD Somehow, Delhi now has a vet Rifle in it???. Reattack Dehli: Vet cav redlines rifle but dies; 4/5 cav dies to reg rifle without scratching it; 4/5 cav retreats from rifle (2/3); vet cav kills conscript rifle; vet cav kills 2/3 rifle; vet cav dies to redlined rifle and promotes it; vet cav kills that rifle and we retake the city.

Move settler to Bombay and abandon city; Found New Paoting in the same spot
Move settler to Kohlapur and abandon city; Found New Yangchow in the same spot

Well, isn’t that wonderful. Mongols have Nationalism too :(

Rush as many cav’s as possible since next turn is the last turn I can attack India and they are down to 2 cities.

IBT: 1 cav retreats due to Indian attack.

T8: 1130AD Last chance turn.
Attack on Bangladore: vet cav dies to rifle; vet cav (3/4); vet cav retreats from rifle; vet cav kills vet rifle (3/4); vet cav retreats from reg rifle; vet cav dies to reg rifle (2/3); vet cav kills ¾ rifle (2/4); vet cav dies to ¾ rifle and promotes it (3/5); vet cav redlines 3/5 rifle but dies; Rider Army kills elephant; Rider Army kills another elephant and a unit promotes (7/14); vet cav kills 2/3 rifle; elite cav kills 1/5 rifle and produces and MGL! And we take the city + 4 slaves + 26g. RR to the city so I can move the Leader out. I know Microbe wanted the Pentagon but I’ll hold off to see if I need another Cav Army to take the last town.

Attack on Calcutta (Gandi’s last stand): RR up to the border. Cav Army kills vet rifle (9/14); Grandma’s Army (renamed reg cav army) kills reg rifle (13/14); Grandma’s Army kills another flawlessly; Grandma’s Army pushes her luck and gets badly wounded but takes the city. Gadhi is not eliminated so there’s a settler or town somewhere else.

I trade WM’s around but I can’t see him in the fog anywhere. What’s really weird is that all the citizens in Calcutta are happy as clams, like the war has ended or something.

I send the leader back to Beijing and rush the Pentigon. The extra unit will come in handy later.

I use elites to kills straglers and leader hunt as well as use our hurt units to gather up workers. Banglador has nothing interesting in it so I abandon and build Beijing 2 in the same spot. Rush a settler so we can claim the gems.

Reluctantly sign peace with India for WM and 38gpt? He won’t give up Nationalism and I don’t really care about Free Artistry. I still don’t see his damn city. I thought C3C eliminated this settler-on-a-boat thing.

Insert 4 obsolete units into Delhi to suppress resistance. Rush a bunch of settlers elsewhere to fill in our borders.

IBT: Volcano erupts and flattens Knossos

T9: 1140AD landscaping and units lick their wounds. I settle a bunch of “filler” areas to make our nation a little more cohesive.

IBT: Everybody loves the Chairman.

T10: 1150AD Elite* cav joins Grandma’s Army. Reg cav’s join the other 2 armies. Landscaping… Turn research up to 100% for Med’s so we can get BM. This was just started this turn and can be vetoed in favor of rushing more cav.

Notes: I have 2 settler’s in the west. Figured we could RR out there and burrow a couple of towns into France, then declare war.

We shouldn't have put the rider army in Delhi, since you knew it would flip. But other than that, very nice turns!

We have peace treaty with Mongols, so we should attack France or Egypt. These two have very tough terrain, I think we should sign RoP with one and use it as base to attack the other?

In the mean time build more cavs.

Roster:
microbe -
gozpel - up
grahamiam -
Aggie - on deck
grs -

Yep we swapped, so I got it and will post my turns some time in August.

*poke microbe in the ribs*

thanks (i think) but flips are not 100% for sure. i think it was around 10-15% that turn and we only had 2T left for the war. i was hoping to quell resistance and rush settlers. it was a risk i lost but if i did not take risks, we would not have all those indian towns right now :) also, we have the military academy and we can replace it in 2T if we want buy turning off research and rushing an army.

Pre-turn - Change a few builds from muskets to cavs, that's all. Too bad we have deals with Mongols or I would take them right away. Ah well, France and Egypt will do.

I don't see the reason why we research as I believe we could take over the continent in 20 turns? 842gpt instead of Medicine in 6t and 36gpt? That's a whole helluvalot of rushed cavs and I decide to turn down research to a scientist and get the money.

This also make me change all muskets to cavs, we wan't to win this, right? And domination seems to be the key here, with a few temple builds already going on. We only need temples on coastal tiles to expand territory.

I rush a few cavs, a couple of temples and settlers.

1160AD - Send a couple of settler to sqeeze in cities next to Mongol borders, I'll see if I can them declare in a bit.
Found a city next to France borders and move cavs and army there.

Rush a harbor in our island city and ship a musket and a couple of cavs there.

Rush more temples and a court. I will spend the 800gpt, hopefully wisely :)

Looking at the map, I will have to declare on both France and Egypt, in that order to get through the mountain range. If I raze any cities there, the land will be swallowed up by either nation's cultural borders and we will be stuck until end of time, since we can't attacks withing borders. I was very lucky in my other turns against Spain, to get ONE single tile to attack from, this won't happen in the mountains if any towns are razed.

I could also get ROP with France, but that would be 20 turns of wasted time. Very tricky.

I decide to use our second cav-army tpp, renamed Microbe's Mentals, for the mission.

1170AD - Chengdu 2 is founded very nicely on the Mongol borders, within striking distance of 3 cities.

1180AD - Declare on France and Microbe's Mentals kill 2 spears, lose one hp and take Chartres. Rush a library and will have to wait for border expansion.

1190AD - Move workers around and remember the Mongol unit sitting in our new territory. I ask him to leave and we are at war. :)

Attack Hovd with the Rider army, which almost dies against a pesky rifle, but finally takes him down with 3hp to spare. Cavs continue the assault and we kill 2 more rifles and a cav, losing one cav. I raze the city as it is too big too keep.

4 cavs take on Philly, 2 rifles and 2 cavs dies and we lose nothing and we take the city.
Keep it to isolate New York.

Send a settler and a bunch of troops to the old Hovd site and around.

Rush a bunch of cavs.

1200AD - IT - 7-3 to the Mongols in counter attacks, doesn't worry me a bit as we build another 10 cavs or so.

We can build Ironworks....in Chartres.

The Mongols are lucky, even silly pikes defends against elite cavs, we lose 3 units and kill 6. Have to take the other army to the new battlefield to hold ground.

1210AD - Sometimes this game is too silly to be fun, 2 elite cavs lose against longbowmen?

We take the city of New York at the loss of 3 cavs.

Lose 2 AC's while taking out 6 French units. Grandma's Army moves back to Chartres.

1220AD - Kazan is defended by 3 rifles only and the rider-army kills 2 and a cav take the city.

Both cav armies will try Avignon next turn, probably to many musketeers around there, but we have to get going there.

Rush an army for 616g.

Take the island city of Tosontsengel?

1230AD - Create an army, Fab Four and send it to the Mongol front.

French muskets move out of Avignon to try to sneak into undefended Xinjian 2  and leave spears in the town.

Attack with Grandma's Army whick kill one spear, then Microbe's Mentals kill another and take the town. The armies movements are almost too powerful, when they can move over a mountain and still attack, I think.

There are 3 muskets and a LB outside the town and only one more unit would've halted my attack. That's the AI :) Lose a cav removing them, we don't want any pillaging here.

We own the mountain range, but we only got 3-4 turns left to take out France. Not possible as I see it, but we can start a war against the Egyptians instead. Well, we have to, since we need to take Byblos.

We take Karakorum, losing no units and kill 4 rifles and a longbow.

1240AD - Fab Four attacks Dalndzadgad and removes 2 rifles. An elite cav finish off the last rifle and take the city. Another cav pillage Mongols horses.

1250AD - India and Mongols sign MP.

Tatung 2 is founded to fill in space near Mongol borders.

We attack Ta-Tu, pop 19 city. We lose 4 cavs against 5 rifles and a LB, even by using 2 armies. Tough nut to crack and we raze the city with Shakespeare's and gain 9 slaves.

India got some units in and around our territory, I remove 3 rifles, there are 2 left.

We take one Mongol island city and destroy another.

I leave it here, next player can continue on Egypt.

We have 55% of land now and 73% pop.

There are some crazy builds in the queues, change to whatever.

Mongo.jpg

Ah yes, he was on a caravel together with 2 frigates I think. Near the island where we have a couple of towns. I only saw him for an IT turn and forgot about it.
