Minor requests and questions thread

In Tenebris Lux, right? yeah, that's latin and it means Light in Darkness. Orbis means orb, i.e. globe, planet, world, Earth.

It might make more sense if it were Lux in Tenebra, ATM it says 'in darknesses light'.

It appears that "Lux In Tenebris" is a motto for several universities around the world and indeed means "Light in Darkness".
It's "Tenebris" instead of "Tenebras" because it makes more sense to use "in + ablative" instead of "in + accusative" in this sentence, I guess.
It's reversed because you can do that in Latin and because, I think, Ahwaric thought it sounded better. And it sounds better :)

It would be interesting, if there would be some disadvantages when player has hated civics of leader he is playing for ... and some advantages when player has favorite civics ... :)

"Tenebra" doesn't make any sense, as darkness is a first declension feminine word that lacks any singular form and is always plural. Plus, using the nominative with in makes no sense. It would have to be either in Tenebris ("in darkness") or in Tenebras ("into the darkness"). Saying that a light shines either in or into the darkness makes sense, but saying that a light simply exists into the darkness does not.

but i guess ahwaric would know best..... has anyone seen him around lately?
I did. :mischief: Won't say anything else on that topic :p
orbis doesn't mean just circle... it also means orb, and World..
It is a hidden message ;)
Orbis is orb and world - a round world, compared to standard FfH flat one.
I have expanded Orbis tech tree more into renaissance, so people there know more of the world and probably made some discoveries proving the world is not flat.

The light here refers to human mind, knowledge and wisdom. Both from renaissance expansion... and Mechanos.
Also, you know Erebus means darkness? (there was a Greek god by that name, son of Chaos, and a personification of darkness and shadow)

World - Light in the darkness
To be precise:
Round world (aka the world is round!) - In darkness light

There is some debate as to whether the Latin term Orbis Terrarum (which was often shortened to just Orbis, as it is common in Latin to omit words that can be inferred) , i.e. "circle of lands," refers to the earth as a globe or just to lands encircling the Mediterranean Sea, which comprised most of the known worlds to the Romans. My first Latin textbooks argued the latter. I tend to think that it may have started that way, but since the world was almost universally accepted to be round by the height of the empire it been meant the former for longer. Other words that more clearly mean sphere are occasionally used too.

Ah. I did not know that. (Why must Latin have so many weird things like that? <_<)

Rest of it does make sense, it just sounds a bit weird to me to flip the order. It is possible, though.

Word order flip gets fun when going from English to Mandarin, once I spent a whole day only speaking Mandarin and my word order was still mixed up the next day (It is mildly entertaining to have a dream in a foreign language)

well ... i got couple of minor requests ... :) .. so i'm going to post it there ... :D (some of they may be already implemented and i just didn't notice them :D)

1. add Wild Mana mod ... completely, mainly autocast feature and Bug mod :)
2. ... see 3.
3. ... see 1.
4. ... i forget the other things .. xD

:D

Hmm... I didn't looked yet how hard would it be to merge Wild Mana and Orbis... But I'm sure this won't be fun

question: when was Grigori medic nerfed ? It was cool unit with mithril weapons and Tier2+3 religious spell capability, actually, that was only reason why I played for Grigori (along with Knightly-order-+2str-promotion-for-mounted-units) ...

I think Nature I spell Treetop defense should either have a Mazatl version or update its help tag. Right now, it says that it fortifies units on forest or ancient forest tile, but not jungle. I didn't try it, though...

Not a 'minor' request, but how about Arcane Mastery? There was some talk about an Orbis port in that thread.

Well, why not...
I'm going to revamp the adept mechanic, check the Balance thread in the Orbis forum to see a bit how.

Crime Rate should increases the chance of success of a Spy Mission.
Crime Rate really should increase maintenance of the city. You should think twice before doing something increasing it and you should want to decrease it.
Of course, there should be some ways to benefit from crime rate. Like Council of Esus.

Just a little thing -- can we make the guardian vines that sometimes come out of Lairs as 'pack leaders' a little more dangerous? When you pop them from a Lair, they just sit there, right? OK, sometimes they may appear in an inconvenient location, but most of the time you can just go around them. Maybe they could shoot poison like the Goblin archers.

(Hmmm. I wonder if I can capture one with Domination or Subdue Beast.)
