Minor Suggestions Thread

just an idea for ancient greece
i think knossos should be an independent city in 3000BC game and join greece once the nation appears. knossos was a notable trading power in antiquety and traded with many empires. the only problem i see at the moment for this is greece becoming to large. this would allow greece to obtain much of the territory it did in history. Syracuse or another greek colony could be settled. a problem is the ai would probley establish byzantium and become to powerful. maybe if the greeks could somehow be discouraged from doing this the setup could work. perhaps knossos could not join greece and they would have to conquer it. keeping them from getting to powerful.
this also raises up problems, greece could not attack or this would not be historcally accurate(dont know how greece obtained crete think it was do to natrual disaters weakning it though). again only ideas to make the game better.

already posted this by acciedent in download latest mod here in case anyone sees same suggestion.

The problem with Knossos is that it cuts too much into Athens/Corinth's territory. And the fact that Rhye doesn't want to add any more indy cities.

o ok what about adding another settler to the one in the galley

In the 600AD start, Massilia (former Greek colony) is present which later allows France to flip the city (Marseilles).

But in the 3000BC start, the independent (Gallic/Celtic) city that spawns is back from the coast (Lugdunum - present day Lyons). I think I'd prefer seeing Massilia spawn as either a Greek/Gallic city if anything should be done to better represent the Greek colony period or ancient history. But then, the Phoenicians don't get much of a look in other than Sur either. And that city should be Tyre IMO also.

I hate Lyon. No coast means it grows to at most 6-7, but I capture it as Rome because I have to. I would love to see Avignon (Avennio,Gallia Narbonensis) founded instead. Lugdunum (Lyon) was founded by the Romans in 43 BC (even though there were Celtic settlements there, whereas there's evidence for a Celtic fort for Avignon (le Rocher les Doms). Even though Avignon is not on the coast in real life, its location would make it the same as Marseilles in RFC. It's more appropriate for the 3000 BC start since Rome would still be alive, and represent some tension between France and Rome (viz. the Avignon popes). Marseilles is appropriate for the 600 AD start since Rome is independent, and Marseilles was the most important port in that area even in medieval times.

Today I founded an egyptian city called Oryx. I have also seen it in RFC RAND. This is actually the name of the province, typical because it is the name of an animal. The capital of this province was Hebenu, which should be the name of the city founded there.

Thats the thing though, by around 900bc i believe the medditerranian was full of greek and phonecion colonies. Maybe there could be an independent group similar to celts that would replace sur with tyre, they could have a city in spain and caligri.

Replace the deer in Iceland with sheep that spawns around 1000 AD. There is no big game on the island, but the Norse brought sheep with them and wool is a major Icelandic industry.

1. Providence (America) should be renamed to Boston.
2. Philadelphia should be renamed to New York so NY could have two tiles.(this would allow Boston to fit.)
EDIT:
3. The Natives in the America's should be the Native Americans. If that does happen, there should be no peace treaties after war. Just replaced by cease fire. You can still ask for cities and gold.
4. Have Aztec and Inca cities give more gold when you conquer them; to be more historically accurate.
5. There should also be world Fairs. It would add a cultural boost to the cities that hold it and a plus 1 relations to the nations that attend to the nation hosting it. Congresses should decide where to hold the Fair and who can attend. Also a plus 1 star for city stability.

My suggestion: I saw a quote by G. Trapattoni in the "Loading" menu. He is the best manager. Can we have more of these please?

Bonus resource should can be "copied" via trading.

Japan got horse from China, China got corn from America, Europe stole silk worms from China, China got grape via silk road...

Greece historical victory should be different. Instead of circomnavicgating globe it should be to control all of the empire Alexander once held.

nope, the Greece in RFC is clearly the city states one, not the macedonian one.

i agree with changing circumnavagating the globe for not only greece but carthage as well. Carthages uhv's force it to not play historcally accurate, invading sur and sometimes even invading greece. i think controling spain south of the ebro river should be one for carthage. Greece is a little more difficult for an alternative uhv though.

Rhye, we need a Native American Civ! The arguments that they founded no cities are hollow! What of Town Creek Native American Mound? Or Pomelooc? Both were Native American cities located in the state of North Carolina. Yes, the first cities did not develop until the Mississippian Period, but they were on much an equal level with the Aztecs in demographics, if not materials. And as for the earlier argument that they would only be around for 400 years before being conquered or so, the same thing happens with the Aztec and Inca! Should they be removed from RFC because of that? No, so Native America should be added in!

No new civs.......and that is that

I will stick by my reasons. The Native Americans are just as qualified to inclusion as the Vikings and Mongols!

Refer to the playable Byzantines thread. Several thousand posts from people who like the idea but cannot implement it.

Aren't you still playing vanilla anyway astrognash? Why don't you get yourself BTS if you need something new witin CivIV? :)

I know. My dad says that the next time we get the chance, he will probably take me to get BtS, hopefully this weekend. Also, my best friend has BtS, and I go over to his house and we play it now and then.
