Minor Suggestions Thread

On a related note, I think Mercantilism should be penalized after the discovery of corporation, since it's not realistic to have no trade with other countries. I can even say after economics is discovered the penalty can be applied, but that might be too soon for the mercantiles to switch. You can always aim for SC/communism if you don't want free trade and the risk of a great depression.

Once you hit all the bonus trade routes and improvements available at corporation mercantilism tends to lose its economic edge over free market unless you have multiple vassals or are THE game in town, I know in one German game I played I stayed with mercantilism up to the end due to multiple vassal states and ruling all of Europe, with all the infrastructure inside the Reich I didn't need much foreign trade.

I hate it how pre-determined the game is. My game as England has been ruined by persistent Americans. What if I don't want to lose cities time and time again?

wow, usually in my games, its british infantry against american riflemen. The Americans start too backwards. They should have all of the techs the British have in 1733, otherwise its impossible to catch up.

You could try playing with the No Tech Brokering option to slow down tech progress. You'll need to edit your Rhye's and Fall of Civilization.ini to set NoCustomScenario = 0 and then choose Custom Scenario from the main menu.

Do not colonize the East Coast.

but wouldn't there be no tech trading? i like tech trading, however, i think the technologies should take longer to research.

No tech brokering allows you to trade techs you research, but not ones acquired through trade.

So you can only trade your own technologies? I believe that would making the catch up thing from america to modernize with everyone else all the harder.

But it would decrease the lead to begin with.
Without brokering, there will be less tech trading overall for all the turns before you play. This decreases the overall tech pace by requiring more civs to research techs, so when America spawns with the same techs as normal, so they should be closer.

An England without the East Coast in the 16-18th century??? Stoopid.

Gameplay thrumps realism. Althrough you can agree to a flip, then, 10 turns later declare war and invade.

Seems like you are very predetermed yourself when you play. "As England, I need to colonize the east coast, ot else..."

Colonize Canada, Africa and Australia, and leave the East Coast of America alone

Switch to the Americans when they spawn then.

Or just get over it.

I would rather stay English.

I don't think King George wanted to lose them either.

The thing is he wasn't playing a game he was supposed to enjoy. He was playing a game called life, children. Now gather round the fire and the guitar for me to play you all a song.

Rhye,

playing as the Americans, cities of other civs often flip to me with the "We can not forget the cruel oppression" unhappy faces. Well, the American Revolution was all about the cruel oppression and getting away with it. Any chance of removing this in flipped cities, as they now have a new leader.

Not everyone liked the american revolution. Only 33% were patriots, 33% were loyalists, and the other 33% were neutralists.
