MLG7: Another Race to Space

I played a game at Monarch as Sury and got my ass kicked. So.. is a change to Lincon outside of the 8000 posts okay? :P

Hmm... I had miscalculated. I meant to pick William Orange, not de Gaulle.
Never mind, the Dutch are taken...

Now this is a problem. The French have Salons, which provide a free Artist. How does that fit in with the rules? (I'm CE, but if SE doesn't have enough players, I'll move over to SE if the Salon is a major no-no.)

Yuck, unirrigated rice and a load of plains? Not looking good so far for the SE. I'm such a pessimist.

There seems to be a lake next to the rice

That's just a mirror reflecting the sky, obviously. :sh:

Monarch does things to your eyes.

e: I was playing a game today and my name/leader thing scoreboard humus has dissapeared. Any ideas?

Above the minimap are a series of buttons, including the one that toggles the resource icons. I think the button beside that (it looks like a clipboard with paper?) will bring up the scores again. That puzzled me for a while too.

could also just click on your name too, if only that is appearing, ie, only the AIs are missing

Loads fine for me.

@pholks - your sig has you as currently starring in MLG6. I thought you got written out in series 4, no? :p

Yuck, no flood plains. :D

That would've made the Farm vs Cottage matchup interesting.

Play tomorrow night or Saturday morning (+800GMT)

start = Meh.

I'll look forward to playing sometime.

PS: i'm surprised nobody choose the Incans. Financial for Cottages, and industrious to build wonders for some GPs.

Lets get this show on the road!
Game plan
Spoiler :
I picked Ghandi cause of the incredible traits combo ,
spiritual will allow us to easily switch between caste system for mass scientist and slavery to whip building/army and offcourse philosophical to get more and more GP's.

Ghandi also has a very effective UU and a decent UB although it wont be a big factor for this game since it comes quite late and hopefully we wont need more wars at that point to expand our lands.
Warring in the late game will slow down the tech speed to much and thats not something we want, we want to see the stars and fast!

The plan is pretty straightforward , kill people , get more land , get more scientist, If I have enough land after representation comes in il just become the peacemonger and tech as fast as I can.

Round plan:
Spoiler :

The plan for this round is something I really like to do as Ghandi and other civs that start with mys+mining .
It works very well as long as you dont need to rush out city's very fast to make sure you dont get boxed in so lets hope for a little room at the start.

Start researching BW while building a warrior , once we hit size 2 MM for mass production to quickly build our warrior , after its finished start building our first worker.
By the time BW comes in you usually need only 1 or 2 turns to whip the worker , doing this trick you will build a worker just as fast(or maybe 1-2 turns slower) as actually building it at size 1 and you get a free warrior to boot!
The bad part is you wont have the tech to work your food resource yet.
So after we whip our first worker we start on stonehenge , start mining some hills with your worker followed by chopping a forest , the forest should be chopped by the time you growed to size 2 , start working on another worker and aided by the chop you can whip your second worker very fast.
After you have 2 workers just get all your food resources going and irrigate some grasslands to grow as fast as possible to size 5(or more) working mass food untill you reach your cap , by the time you get to your cap stonehenge is build and you can start building settlers very rapidly.
The 2 workers have improved all important tiles and can move on to the second city.
Grabbing stonehenge for Ghandi is huge , free border pops is nice but you will also get a very fast great priest for 5g and 2hammers to help you expand and build more rapidly.

In case we have multiple AI's close (very unlikely looking at the starting spot) I will just go for fast settlers , after the first worker is whipped chop a forest toward a settler or mine a hill untill agriculture or whatever tech u need to improve your food comes in .
At size 3 get a settler and just go with the flow.

Round 1:
Spoiler :
I moved my warrior on the hill east and it shows fish in the sea , we dont have much land so we might lose the fish if we dont move but moving gives us a very poor production city so im just gonna settle in place and pray for a city that can use the fish .

So we settle in place and pop a scout from the hut.

Capital looks decent , Ivory is great and we have quite a few hills , if we get bronze/horses or iron in the cap (hopefully on a plains tile) will make Delhi into a very strong production city
Im gonna follow by round plan so start on a warrior while teching BW.
3840 BC : We get masonry from a hut! Thank you RNG God

I luve free techs , sadly I dont see any stone or marble nearby , lets hope something pops up.
3680BC: Meet Suryaman , I hate this guy , he always gets a huge empire in my game and he isnt a very fast techer so hes no use to me!
Buddhism FIDAL
3600BC: warrior done , start on worker
3520BC: 32gold from a hut
3440BC: We meet Monty hes a Buddhist, sadly he seems far away from me , so rushing him is out of the case , I hope he will be a good boy and not get into to many wars slowing us down .
3400BC: BW comes in , we dont have any bronze nearby  start on agriculture and revolt to slavery.
3360BC: whip the worker
3320BC: worker > stonehenge
3280BC: Hinduism FIDAL
3120BC: We meet Isabella , lets just hope she wont found a religion or we got big problems here, im hoping we meet a financial civ soon.
3080BC: Size 2 , switch to worker .
3040BC: Agriculture > hunting , chop finished whipped another worker
2880BC: Scout gets EXP from a goody hut , make him woodsman 1+2
2800BC: Hunting > AH
2400BC: AH > the wheel , we got horses to our east near some floodplains.
2160BC: Stonehenge is finished

start on a settler
2080BC: the wheel > pottery

Delhi

Current map

We can get a few good city's in before we need to head into the jungle ,
it doesnt look like il get into a war early , where am I gonna get my gold !
Besides the huge jungle to our north there are huge deserts near Isabella's and Monty's lands , its a pretty ugly map!

To bad I lost the fish , a fish clam pigs city would have been a fantastic GP farm :(

7 turns for pottery to come online and our first settler will be build in 3 turns , not quite sure where to put him yet , but more then likely it will be near the horse .
