Mod Component Requests Thread

ok I have done that, now I open Civ IV and go to scenarios and I don't see the resource mod, I think I'm supposed to edit the Civ IV shortcut or something like that to start the mod directly but I dno't know how, also I've started the history in the making mod and I really dig it but there is this bug in it that has text in the middle of the screen and that annoys me, anyway, if you can please tell me how to run these resources mod I'd really appreciate that.

Thanks

Why would you click scenarios? ITs a mod not a scenario, when you load the game click advanced, then click Load a mod and it will be in there

Is there a mod component that allows you to make trades for peace (Like your enemy giving you a tech in turn for a couple city's or gold) instead of one-sided peace trades?

I think you can already do this in vanilla BTS.

I would love a Naval Combat Experience Mod, similar to the Air Combat Experience Mod so Navies could get XP from city bombardment, ranged bombardment, blockades, etc.

No you can't
Vanilla BtS only allows one-sided peace trades:
The game thinks that only the "winning" side should ask for things. I don't think there has to be a winning side in most cases. And it's completely ahistorical this way.
Also, AIs are set that city trading is only allowed during peace negotiations
I.e: No possibility for offering back some of the conquered cities in exchange for a couple techs, gold, or whatever you want

Another problem gameplay-wise, that the relations between the two civs is usually awful after the war, so the AI won't accept any further trades. Even if it's only a normal trade (without city ownership changes). The AI won't even accept a fair tech trade after the war, which it would gladly accepted if connected to peace negotiations.
And of course it won't even have to be completely fair, peace itself should be an important factor in those trades
I.e: AI values 1000 gold if you give peace for it's nation, and values one of it's techs (you don't have) for 1200 gold. Why cannot you make a deal of offering peace + 200 golds for that tech?

I absolutely second Barbarism's request

I figured out and released one part of it so far. Link is in my sig.

I would like to request a mod to the tech screen that allows the Eras to be added to the top, a la Civ5. I'll give up my firstborn child for it.

Here's a screenshot of the Civ5 tech tree for those of you that may not have played it:

I think either BUG or BAT does something like that. IIRC it gives each tech a colored shadow that is different for each era.

I would like to see a component that expands the possible effects of projects. For example, the ability to create a Hanseatic League project that gives you a free merchant in each city or a Renaissance project that starts a golden age. Things like that. It's not a huge deal, since you could always turn your "project" into a building, but I think it would be nice if you could do more things with projects.

Give me 2 precise ideas, i'll try if i can put them together tomorrow (public holiday here).
Don't forget, the AI will mostly not be able to evaluate the value in a correct way.

If someone remembers a post by me here in that thread earlier, in which i said that some stuff might not be possible for projects: Forget that, i've been mostly wrong :mischief:.

...checking...it's not in BUG, but in RevDCM (but no idea which versions i have here).
Personally i find that a bit too decent, but nice idea.

Not sure if i'll take a look at the lables for each era. It might be relatively difficult.

It's something I could use for my mod too so I'd be willing to have a try making it, I have a couple of ideas of how to do it. The hard part would be making it dynamic, i.e reading Civ4TechInfos.xml and adjusting layout appropriately. At the very least it could be done where you need to manually define how wide each era needs to be.

I really need to finish up the latest version of HR which will be a couple weeks away at least. If you're willing to wait til then I'm happy to attempt this.

Does your mod use BUG or the standard Tech window?

It's definitely in BUG, I use it all the time and I don't have (and can't use) RevDCM. It's not quite what ripple01 is after though, each individual tech gets a coloured box placed under it like a shadow, a different colour for each era. He's wanting separate labels along the top of the tech window.
