The project seems to be dead. It is a pity sine the ideas were nice. However they are so powerful that the game might get unbalanced. Just providing food and production with certains civics means you finish the game in 1500AD. Thats no fun either. We could continue his work, but it needs feedback and thoughts.

I am very busy with implementing the mod. I need you guys to balance it out. ;)

My game crashes when I try to load a .7201 game with the .7208 patch.
I am able to set up new games with .7208 and the new map.
I'm at 900 A.D.. Sure would be nice if I could finish it. Could you make the .7201 patch available again?

Thats where the colors are set for players.

I am amzed that you can play this game with such an old video card. How much RAM do you have and CPU ?

I use an Athlon 1700 and 756meg Ram I think, actually the game runs quite smoothly as long the map isn't that big I can even play high settings:)
I still suggest you change this for your next upload. And do a seperate set of flags with white alphas. It's easy no painting involved and I'm not the only one who has that problem have a look around at some other mods they're already providing flagfixes;)
 
Just tried the new update for a minute; just a couple of quick things I noticed...
1)Arabia has only one UU? (Ansar Warrior)
2)As Mongolia on world map, Delhi's tiles were still exposed
3)Imho, the aid promotions should not apply to ships. I lost 6 Ships of the Line (mix of Drill 2 & 3) to 2 stinking frigates with fewer/crappier bonuses. It was because they were escorting transports loaded up with troops, so the frigates got cavalry, ranged, and melee support x3, which made them tough as hell. Doesn't seem very realistic; my ships of the line would have torn through those frigates and transports, horse archers and hypaspists shouldn't change that outcome.
4)The resource clumping is a cool idea, but sometimes it really dumps a ton in one place. I've seen more than a couple of cities with over 3 water-based resource bonuses (crabs mostly).
5)Please figure out how to tweak the Mongol aggression soon. My poor horsemen :cry:

So I thought about the religions, and to be honest I couldn't come up with much that I didn't think was just as ill-fitted, or to put it another way, nothing that I could see blanketing any specific religion. As it stands, I still think Daoism gets the short stick. It's the only temple I don't build, the only one that adds war weariness. I'm not sure the realistic religion thing is really adding anything to the game. It just means I won't build Muslim, Jewish, or Taoist temples (generally). Really, at the moment I'm of the opinion that perhaps the religions should be changed back, but leave the religious specific units, those are still cool, and quite useful.
 
Its more realistic so it shouldnt be dropped. I certainly try to found Islam because the mujahid is worth suffering the penalties for. Jews get an early spread of their religion and their spy unique unit so they are 'one up' as well. That ship bug needs to be fixed though.
 
Was going to suggest that you might want to check out Sevo's cleaned-up civs if people want more civs to play with (people including me :)). They look pretty good compared to many out there.
 
First point :Good mod, the best I admit...
2 : Still remain bugs with attack percent with the last patch (only with city attack ?) 153% etc
3 : Mass bonus may be too strong...
4 : Could it be possible to add realistic changes (hey :that's the name of the mod...) like defensive bonus on Cottage (5%)... Town (20%) only for the owner civ, it should be easier to defend villages against opponents !
5 : I always thought strange in Civ that Mounted units could attack walled cities, so non mounted units should have bonus against mounted units when fortified in walled cities and stronghold !!! and not only pikemen !!!
6 : I always play monarch, realistic, large map, and always finish in 1900-1950, The speed is good until middle age and too quick after... maybe we should add techologies and rise the techs costs... cause the number of turns is quite good I think !

Damn, the whole links on Civfanatics FTP server are not working...this is not worth it. I m trying now to upload them into the sourceforge Project Israfil has set up. In that case there are mirrors all over thw world + a nice statistics.

Is there anything in the mod that puts pressure on players to change civics, or forces them to? There's another mod that causes unhappiness if you have a different civic than a culturally powerful civ, but I can't remember which one it is.

Also, as a suggestion, maybe a way to cause civs to collapse (some or all cities become barbarian after something catastrophic - lost capital, huge defeat for army, revolution, or something along those lines) and barbarian cities to rise into civs?

And is anyone working on a client state system where barbarian cities would give you units or not fight you or something?

I hate your bug reports. You find always the nastiest bugs that are hard to fix. ;) hehe no worries I love you man. Let see how I can fix them.

Regarding religions, as already stated by Los Tirano, Islam has commercial disadvantage, however it enables a very dangereous combatunit as well. All of the religious have good and bad sides. But I must admit the Taoist need some rework. I was hoping for some suggestions. Also Hinduist need some rework.

I will have a look on Sevos civics.

Good news is that Israel has set up the Sourceforge project and I have successfully updated the old version 0.72.01 to 0.72.08. It looks very promising.

Thank you for your detailed bug report. It comes very handy. Also thank you so much for the last point. Good to know that you finish as Monarch in 1950. Techs should get more expensive...but it needs planing and analyzing. IF you have suggestions please share...

EDIT: Good news: The version is being released to Source forge. In 24 hours the file should be all over the globe then you could download it from a server in your country. ;) Yeah we are taking over the world!!!!! From now we are independent from CIVFanatics FTP server or attachments. :D


EDIT2: Blue, where do i find Sevos CIVIC mod?
