[MODMOD] Legacy of Erebus: Nuova Alba

Would it be mean of me to say that I saw this one coming? ;) To have a vision exceeding ones time is a common trait amongst all successful modders. And you appeared to be closing in on 100 hundred minor leaders, unique dialog text and all. Not to mention everything else you been working on...
Yeah, yeah, I know that :p I'm very ambitious in everything. At least this mod is going well and I'm not tired of modding it. Every hour I spend on it makes me happy, so it's fine. Let's say for my defence that I didn't ever think about making a unique trait for each leader I'd add. And I won't, anyway. I don't want to generalize a mechanic and this is why I think minor leaders need to be overhauled.

Perhaps it's best to let your mod start over, so to speak? One single nascent leader for each civilization, playtest them for balance and bugs, and then tinker from there. A smaller modmod will hopefully make it easier to keep up with Ahwarics current modding spree.
You mean, removing every leader I already added to just add the nascent ones and start from there? Honestly, I was going to call you crazy but now that I think of it, it may be a good idea. But I don't think I'll remove the others. They will stay there and won't be nascent anyway. I don't think it'd be a good move to remove that bunch of content. I'm not really overbooked with the mod, so it's fine. It's just that uniqueness of mechanics is a bit hard to find but it will come eventually.

As for making the selection... Honestly I think this is best left to you Opera since you will be spending quite a lot of time with them. Perhaps even make it as simple as choosing the portraits you like the best (since nothing says that a civ leader has to look anything like the rest of his/her people)? Or pick the ones that are currently the most complete.
Well, I made a first selection based on lore (at least the lore I made). I'll review it and maybe spread the leaders at 1:1 ratio with civilizations. Since there is 10 nascents for now, this means at least 10 civilizations are without one.

Thanks for your input Wauthan :D

@anyone: Is there any leader you feel like should stay/be made nascent?
Technically all of them would be nascent as long as they did not exist before the age of ice. So all mortal leaders would be nascent and only immortal or supernatural leaders would not.
In fact, as a possible alternative idea, leaders could be classified in mortal(Ex: Capria, Decius, Tasunke, Rhoanna, Falamar, Hannah, Dain....) and supernatural(Sabathiel, Faluros, Alexis, Os-Gabella, Basium, Elven leaders, Cardith Lorda, Verlain, Palgadee...). Supernatural leaders would have unique traits but without the minor leaders mechanics. Mortal leaders would be the "minor" with dynamic traits.
It could symbolize that supernatural leaders already have a lot of arcane (or divine, or demonic, or whatever) power and long lifes, they remain unchanged or are very difficult to change over time whilst "Nascent", usually mortal, leaders do not have any special power and got to leadership through talent, cleverness and adaptativity; they still have to develop some special skill or talent now that they have managed to get some power and hability to lead. For some nascent leaders whith supernatural potential there could be some quests to earn a powerful trait.
I would like to point at Kahd from Fall further, it's a great example for a Nascent leader: mid-late game he must choose (through a world spell and not through a quest) either to follow Mammon or Oghma and get different benefits and alignment.

As a side note: Soon (or maybe not so soon) a 2 axis(Lawful-True-Chaotic; Good-Neutral-Evil) modmod will be released. It may be a good incorporation.

Hm, that's a good idea you had here Isotope... However, much of the leaders would be Nascents, which I don't want. When I thought of Nascent, I thought of leaders who would need to prove worthy of their position by great deeds; thus excluding leaders who have great deeds in their backstory. Hm. Hard thinking.

About DnD alignments: yeah, good idea, as I said on his/her thread. However, changing alignment does change nearly everything in the game. Well, I'm exaggerating. But many things would have to be changed.

The thing is that it could be easily introduced without much trouble but I see no point in it if it's only for variety (yes, most of my leaders are there only for variety, I know). With now two axis of alignment, more things should modify alignment or be influenced by alignment. It would need a major thinking and a major overhaul. Maybe for .4?

I uploaded .3 version! You can get it here and read the changelog in the first post, as usual. It's updated to the just-released patch B :D

Many documentation is missing for the features I added. I guess you can discover ingame but I will add some screenshots for the trait and all.

Just so you know: now, Intolerant leaders (such as the Mechanos) will hate those that follow a religion; however, Agnostic leaders (such as the Grigori) won't care. UniqueCult leaders (such as the Risen Emperor and the Illians) will hate and will be hated.

I also created a new tag allowing to set a trait bypassing any tech requirement on civics. Thus, the Risen Emperor can adopt God King right from the start.

The Wanderer trait gives Adventurer and Sentry I for free to recon units.
The Zealous trait gives no upkeep to religious civics, free Inquisition to Disciple units and automatically spread religion in newly founded cities (for .4: random chance of spreading it in conquered cities).

I had an issue with no interface... It shouldn't reappear but beware!

Well, voilà, quick & dirty documentation on the major features of this version.

As you may have guessed, none of the plug-ins are available for now :(

And now I'm just tired. SLEEP!

Um... Are Ngomele suppossed to be in yet? According to their thread they are, yet... Not there.

OK, diplotexts for the two leaders I wrote stories for. I've only used the most common set right now, taking my cue from the text thread in the main Orbis mod. First, Saralet of the Malakim:

AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_DECLARE_WAR
#Your encroachments and insults end here. From this day forward, we are enemies.
AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_NO_VASSAL
#We are a great people. We do not need to bend our knees to you.
AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_OFFER_VASSAL
#Let us rest in your shade and drink from your wells – the firstfruits of our flocks and fields will be yours, if you will only protect us.
AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_FIRST_CONTACT
#May the light of life shine upon you. The Malakim greet you and offer you peace, if you seek it.
AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_REFUSE_TO_TALK
# I have nothing to say to you. Prey upon your own people, for a change.
AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_PEACE
# Yes, that is best. May both our peoples prosper!
AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_NO_PEACE
# So be it. You will find us more than a match for your depredations.
AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_GREETINGS (Friendly)
#Welcome, friend of the Malakim. Share our bounties, both of field and of spirit!
AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_GREETINGS (Pleased)
#I greet you. My people grow strong in body and spirit – how do yours fare?
AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_GREETINGS (Cautious)
# I greet you. My people grow strong in body and spirit – how do yours fare?
AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_GREETINGS (Annoyed)
# I greet you. My people grow strong in body and spirit – how do yours fare?
AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_GREETINGS (Furious)
#You. What do you want with us? You will find no easy plunder here.
AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_ACCEPT (Friendly)
#Yes. Your wisdom does credit to both you and your people.
AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_ACCEPT (Furious)
#You have forced us to submit to your will. No doubt that pleases one so vile as you.
AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_REJECT (Friendly)
#That will not benefit my people now. Perhaps another time.
AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_REJECT (Furious)
#Do you take us for fools, [leadername]? Begone, and take your offer with you.
AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_GLAD (Friendly)
#You are welcome to our bounty. Take it with our goodwill.
AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_GLAD (Pleased-Annoyed)
#Our reputation for hospitality is not an empty one, as you see. Enjoy our gifts.
AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_GLAD (Furious)
#Take it, and go.
AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_SORRY (Friendly)
#Think of the honor of the Malakim, my friend. Think of the reputation of your people. Should you not return favor with favor?
AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_SORRY (Pleased-Annoyed)
#We have labored diligently for that – we cannot give it up so easily.
AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_SORRY (Furious)
#Is that all? I’m surprised that you do not demand half of our women for your harem and half of our children as your slaves, and me to serve as your washing woman. Now go!
AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_TRY_THIS_DEAL
#This could make both our peoples prosper.
AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_OFFER_PEACE
#Both our peoples are wounded in body and soul. They need healing, not more violence. Should we not have peace?
AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_JOIN_WAR
#Come, [Leadername] – the [civilization] are a sickness spreading across the face of Erebus, as you well know. Join us in cleansing them, and in leaving the land whole again.
AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_JOIN_WAR_DENIED
#You surprise me. Do not mistake this situation, [leadername]. The Malakim will prevail.

When killed:
A good and peace-loving people have been utterly undone. We would have left the world a better place, if we had been able. Instead, it is darker and more barren, for even the sun covers its face at our passing. Mourn for us, and pray that you may escape our fate.

Next, Sirvagha of the Doviello.
AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_DECLARE_WAR
#At last, we can cast aside this charade of civility. We will devour you and your people like the frightened cattle you are. Our hunt begins!
AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_NO_VASSAL
#Lead us? The Doviello serve no fat city-dwelling masters. Begone, before we set the wolfpacks on you.
AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_OFFER_VASSAL
#You and your people are strong – stronger than we. Shield us with your strength, and we will be weapons in your hand and wolves to bring down your prey!
AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_FIRST_CONTACT
#Ah, the civilized people of Erebus. So soft and exposed – so defenseless. … You look uncomfortable. Did I say something wrong?
AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_REFUSE_TO_TALK
#Feel free to keep sending me diplomatic envoys. My wolves are always hungry for more.
AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_PEACE
#The peace will last until our prey grows scarce.
AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_NO_PEACE
#You speak proudly now, but soon you will wail like a frightened little calf, begging for mercy when we have you halfway down our throats!
AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_GREETINGS (Friendly)
#Welcome! Don’t worry, the wolves won’t bite if you don’t get too close. What do you need from the masters of Erebus?
AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_GREETINGS (Pleased)
#My men and my wolves grow stronger every day. I’m sure you’re glad to hear that.
AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_GREETINGS (Cautious)
#My men and my wolves grow stronger every day. I’m sure you’re glad to hear that.
AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_GREETINGS (Annoyed)
#My men and my wolves grow stronger every day. I’m sure you’re glad to hear that.
AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_GREETINGS (Furious)
#Be quick – unless you were planning on staying as dinner.
AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_ACCEPT (Friendly)
#Yes, this will make us stronger. What else is there in life?
AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_ACCEPT (Furious)
#Gloat while you can. But one day you will turn your back on us, and then--!
AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_REJECT (Friendly)
#Perhaps that would be a good idea if we were flabby townsfolk like you. But we’re not.
AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_REJECT (Furious)
#I’ve got a better idea. How about I throw you to the wolves, and watch them devour you?
AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_GLAD (Friendly)
#Go ahead, take it. It’ll put hair on your chest!
AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_GLAD (Pleased-Annoyed)
#Fine, fine. Now go away before we get hungry.
AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_GLAD (Furious)
#One day, when I’m standing over your broken body, I’ll remind you that you demanded this.
AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_SORRY (Friendly)
#Get it yourself. It will make you stronger – and you could certainly stand to be stronger.
AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_SORRY (Pleased-Annoyed)
#No. With the wolves, you have to fight for what you get.
AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_SORRY (Furious)
#If you want it, you’re going to have to come and take it. I’d love to see you try.
AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_TRY_THIS_DEAL
#Here, city-dweller. This should interest you.
#Got an offer for you – it’ll keep the wolves from your door for a while.
AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_OFFER_PEACE
#We need to lick our wounds. You are the stronger. This time.
AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_JOIN_WAR
#The [civilization] are weakened, and will make easy prey! Join us in glutting yourself on their cities and lands!
AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_JOIN_WAR_DENIED
#Hah! I didn’t realize you were such a weakling. We’ll remember that.

When killed:
We were strong enough for the wilderness, but not for your filthy cities. When your civilizations crumble, and you return to the wild, you’ll find us waiting. Waiting and hungry.

Feedback, as always, welcome!

Edit: So, when I went back to the other thread, I realized that I had missed some of the stuff there. I'll be updating this in a bit with more lines for these two leaders.

Edit again: OK, added a few things and corrected the PEACE line. I'm nixing the DIPLOCOMMENT_TRADING line, since as far as I can tell from the DiploTexts post, it's used for all civs. Unless there are mistakes, I'll call Saralet and Sirvagha finished and move on to some new leaders. Up next: Angaad.

Oooh, thanks :D

You missed DIPLOCOMMENT_TRADING, it still says the description

I'm currently working on the Wild Mana plug-in. Just to prepare yourself, the Ngomele plug-in should be installed after the Wild Mana plug-in. I'm releasing them in their installation order so it will be easier for you people. Of course, I strongly advise you to install both plug-ins.

The WM plug-in (which will certainly get a new name) is mostly a resources-revamp plug-in. It adds the WM feature but goes beyond it in terms of improvements to the improvements (ahah) and bonus. I updated the 9th post WM changelog if you want to take a look at it ;)

Here it is! The BetterWorld plug-in!

In a nutshell, it adds Wild Mana and modifies a lot of values concerning resources and improvements. Check the first post for the changelog ;)

For what it's worth, I prefer getting the whole mod in one package -- not in three. Might just be me, but I like 'em bundled. Having to install FFH2, then Orbis, then LE is enough for me.

Mind you, I'm still USING the plugins.

I completely understand, icarussc. However, I was worried that some changes would be too much out of what one could expect of a mod called LeadersEnhanced so I decided it would be wiser to put those changes apart. However, I can create a bundled version if it would make everyone life easier :)

Leasieigh... she has vampiric flavour. Personally I would fit her as a Calabim neutral leader I wanted so much rather than Sidar.
Also, she has CoE flavour and not Empyrean. Personally, I would make it her favourite religion and Shadow Court as a favourite civic,Enlightment as a hated and Black Citadel as a favourite wonder.

I think its more work to separate them... and I will use them all, so my vote is less work for you and keep it all together. :D

Since you are making graveyards give a bonus, can you make another option besides exploring them that will make them permanent (un-explorable). I would hate to want to save a graveyard in my land to get the extra yields and to use for resurrection just to have my ally with whom I have open borders dig it up and lose it.

@icarussc: I just noticed you updated your post of diplotext. Very good :) I'll add them in the next patch/version. Sirvagha is very... hrm, brutal? Those two are really really different people!

@Isotope: Hm... To be honest, I thought of putting her in the Calabim but then my friend told me she had a Sidar feel. I took some time and then chose to put her in the Sidar. I don't really want to change that because I already made a backstory about her place among the Sidar and all...
(but I still want to add a neutral calabim)

@sputnik: Hrlbkrh... I'm now wondering if it was a good idea to do that splitting in plug-ins thing  But I'm worried about the mod's name. Maybe it's weird...

About the graveyard thing, you're right. How would I do this, though? Maybe a spell castable by disciple? I'm thinking no requirement for good leaders but Life I needed for others?

I dont know code :( could they be made like the epic lairs and not removed when explored, and after so many turns they could be explored again? - They could also be pillage-able. That way they could be explored and give a bonus, as well as removed if needed.

is that too powerful?

Don't worry about the code, I know how to handle that :) Currently, graveyards aren't that good. Exploring them only grant gold or a tech or bad things. Maybe they should be changed regarding those results.

I think I'll do what I said earlier. Good Disciple units will get a spell on graveyards allowing them to transform it into a Hallowed Graveyard which will grant +1:) in nearby cities. They could only be robbed by units you're at war with. Results of robbing will be surprising...

I think the spell could be enabled if the civilization has Life mana. Don't know if it will be allowed for evil leaders, though...

I've begun re-merging. I'm doing some kind of work on my new traits so that they influence building production; check the 9th post. I would like suggestions and feedback on that :)

Any chance this will be made to work with vanilla FFH? I really like the ideas.

Hello,

im playing Orbis 0.24b with LE. Is it right that i can not found or adopt any Religion as Malakim / Leader - Saralet?
