Updating RFCE++ to a new version of RFCE is a big hassle actually, so I'll only do it for the actual releases (we are still on Beta 12). Alpha 5 should be done for next weekend or thereabout, if Beta 13 is not released by then I'll just release it for Beta 12 instead.
while playing Tunis i noticed something with the first UHV ... while you have to make 1 or more suboptimal cities (depending on how tight you fit them those good places there are) its still easily done way before the cut-off date ... got it in 1392, and is busy grapping the islands i need, and if it wasn't for ireland and Iceland i would probably be done with that around 1492

It's absolutely ridiculous to expect that you always merge all your changes with the latest svn revision.

That's something we should really think about adding to main RFCE
As of the release of Beta 13: we already have more than enough changes for a next big release.
But the improved AI totally messed up the previous balance - well, simply with playing better
Which is a wonderful thing of course, but needs at least some sloppy balancing on most aspects of the game before we release the next version.
I would like to do it ASAP, but it won't happen in a week. Maybe on the weekend after that

Morholt, what was exact your suggestion about the swedish indies?
I'm currently adding Abo/Turku to the main mod, but can't find the previous conversation
What should be Abo's exact position on the map, and do you remember what other cities were suggested?

Here's my "effortpost". There were some other ideas thrown around in the same thread, but I think these are the most relevant pre-Stockholm cities. I think it was The Turk that suggested moving Uppsala 1e from where it is in this map and making it into a village when Sweden spawns. This is more or less how I have it in RFCE++ now and it seems to work out fine.

Morholt, can we expect something like a guide on unions eventually? I still cannot understand what was your intention with making negotiations so complicated and full with options which are not really required if you are a human player. Say, if you play Spain and you want Aragon's lands -- they almost always are your vassal at this point -- one can spend nothing and gain almost all the cities, except the bad ones in Africa or Italy. Also what will happen if AI gets an upper hand in union? Why can't you simply unite civs according the to rough historical reality with some elements of randomness (Scottish UK looks and sounds pretty cool 
).
Also Flanders (represents Belgium) should be OK for Spain (Brussels or Gent needed -- Karl V was born there and alludes to European Union ), while Holland was actually unstable (but oddly OK in this mod).

Opera, it is challenging -- when you already have your 10 cities -- managing new science rate and dealing with bad choices AI has made... For practical reasons you will be in a better shape keeping Aragon as a vassal, if you are Spain, for example...
OK. Just checking. By the way, my second UHV (fur exports) as Novgorod didn't work properly last game so I had to quit with them.

There is a strange bug when you play as Scottish: it says that my empire descends into a civil war, but it does not. I am not complaining

Also unique power for Scotland kicks in even when you liberate British cities back to British, but does not work when one of your very own city declares independence. Perhaps we need to introduce some uniform approach here?

Hmm, that's strange
Did you experience anything similar in RFCE too?
Morholt probably didn't touch the rise and fall code that much, maybe the bug is on our end...

It might also be a union bug. Currently it works so that if the collapse function is called while you are in a union, the union is broken instead. I might have forgotten to remove the message in this case.

Play-tested Scottish. Auld Alliance is one of the most creative UHV ever created French and English had a 1000 year war (French never took Caen). Ottomans were doing very good, took over Balkans and Crimea. Bellow are some oddities encountered in modmodmod:
1. Multiple bad memory allocation crashes. Never happened with vanila RFCE or any BTS mod before. Not sure what is the reason.
2. In union with Spain Aragon got an upper hand (love their UB, by the way
). But few turns later Spanish cities declared independence (respawned) and started a war with Aragon, but were defeated and died as Crown of Castille.
3. English started a war with France and this war lasted the entire game without any gains by any side.
4. Only 2 Barbarian Vikings were spotted on the second turn of the game. Otherwise no barbarian pressure -- not even in Ireland.
5. Norway is always stronger than Sweden and Denmark. After Union Norway-Denmark was leading the score-table until Ottomans gained momentum.
6. Austria never has a chance.
7. Scottish UU is immune to Plague.

Has there been more thought re: Bohemia? As a Prague obsessive, I think this is a great idea. I personally like the idea of a one- or maybe three-city challenge. I think having as many types of civs as possible is a good idea. As such a small civ in the HRE, one good UHV might be to be HRE emperor once? That would probably mean that you would have to build the apololistic palace, or whatever, but that could be cool, and historical. It would mean having to have good relationships too. I'm not sure how this would work, but some sort of multi-ethnic UHV might be interesting - could a UP be that cities never revolt because of German population, but a UB be something that attracts jews and germans?

Also, maybe the Bohemian UU could be a Hussite, but incorporate their invention of the Howitzer? a normal unit that can also bombard, maybe? Or has extra powers against stacks?
minor thinkings ... shouldn't Arabs second UHV be made easier ... with the added civs they now have to demolish Egypt, Tunesia and parts of Morroco

The Arab's 1st and 2nd UHV could be moved a bit earlier. It was fairly easy in the original. I suggest moving both UHVs to before the Egyptian spawn. If that's too difficult, mabye give them more starting units to compensate? Horse archers with only 5str seemed a little low to me...
