Module - Hiawatha - Native America

So what is the process for that? I haven't done anything more than just replacing DDS files before, I am assuming I do this...

1) Change the XML to use Boudicas BG kfm.

2) Move boudica_bg.kfm, both of them, into Hiawatha's folder.

3) Replace the background dds file with the one I have.

OR DO I DO THIS!

1) Move boudica's bg kfms into the Hiawatha folder and change the name of them to Shaka_bg.kfm

2) Then change boudica's background

Which one?

this is probably easiest but you can rename it to Hiawatha_BG.kfm. BUt you have to move all BG stuff - kfm, kfs and the fog dds etc.

that file is looked for in thexml - but the KFM looks for the specific BG.nif so don't change that one (this is different than the leader kfm which can use any nif thats in that folder for some reason)

I'll try this out and put up a screen shot. If you're around now is there any way to control the density of the fog? Just in case that is an issue either way.

The fog cuts off abruptly at the top and at the bottom there is still a little thin red line to take care of, but I think this looks pretty good and I have actually decided to stick with this BG. I made the background forest (the green areas) blurred to give it a bit more of a foggy/3d effect, it isn't much but I think it helps a little. What do you all think though?

I think I might give him Ragnar's animations so it looks like he is emerging from the morning fog. We'll see though.

I gotta go watch the Caps game, but I'll fine tune him with new animations (maybe) and fix the background up. I'll put him in the database as soon as he is ready.
 
Thanks Chiyu! I tried to fix the fog/BG issue, but I got a python error. I'm not sure if it was related to this LH though because it showed up fine in the Civilopedia, and I got the error message at the "Dawn of Time" prompt at the start of the game. I'll try and fix the issue and put him up as soon as I can. Sorry for the wait everyone.
 
Delay is fine by me. Ran into a few issues of my own, and adding him in will take a few days to get to at the least anyway.
 
I tried to enlarge the Fog itself in NifSkope (from 1.00 to 1.4) and it didn't actually appear to get bigger at all. So I'm thinking its basically impossible to do this, its pretty late so I'm going to stop now. I'll try moving it around or something but this is a bit disheartening because I really liked the fog. Here's a shot, I did manage to fix the red line though (but that was easy).
 
really nice one :) the problem with the fog scale is, that the values are set again in the background kf, which overrides your changes in the nif (to be exact, the node 'Boudica BG FOG' is set to scale 1.1055 in the kf), there are also two NiTextureTransformController controlling the texture movement on the 'Editable Mesh' poly (the plane with the fog texture).

what you could do, open the kf with nifskope, expand 'Controlled Blocks' of the 'NiControllerSequence', the first block will be controll 'Boudica BG FOG' , go to the controller (should be node #1), and to the child data (the actual animation data for this node, node #2 (NiTransformData)), the last of the three blocks called scale controlls the scale value of the node, change the value for both keys to the one you want (eg form 1.1055 to 1.4). After my understanding it should do the job

[or you try the attached kf (scale set to 1.5)]

or you try the changed boudica background (added a second fog layer to the nif and the kfm [copy of the first entry, but move a bit up in the nif])

I am not very good with all the technical jargon (I'm really nowhere near as good at this stuff as my leaderheads make me look), but I'll try to figure it out. I'll see if the double fog will look good too, or if it will look like too much but thanks a lot for doing that. Good show! :goodjob:

I'm also going to take the gloss off of the beads and wampum belt. Now that there's fog there it doesn't really make sense to have that stuff glisten in the sunlight.
 
HIAWATHA

Here is Hiawatha of the Onondaga/Mohawk Iroquois, he was one of the men credited with founding the Iroquois confederacy (along with Deganawida/"the Great Peacemaker"), and was known as a great orator. I am not sure exactly what his traits should be but Charismatic should certainly be one of them. Anyway here he is, thanks to The_Coyote for supplying me with a fix to the background fog, and thanks to Ekmek for the original model.

I have him as Agg/Spi in my mod (art to be updated soon). I thought that was slightly more fitting, although Agg/Org might work.
