6-Star General
Chieftain
Here's my effort:
When I started the game, it didn't like my mods for some reason. Instead of taking the time to figure out the problem, I just started playing without them. I hope that's okay.
Turn by turn:
I started off the round by whipping out some buildings in Russia. I also whipped out the MoM.
I discovered a cache of secrets. I spent the money for the 50% chance of doubling the bonus, succeeded, and picked up 670 bulbs for Engineering.
745AD: Collosus BIAFL.
775 AD: I have proven that the world is round.
870 AD: Pacal built the SoZ in Mutal.
870 AD: Discovered Silver near Moscow.
880 AD: Astronomy came in. I'm running at 30% slider for 299 beakers. Failed the Horse Whisperer quest.
Opened some overseas trades.
890 AD: Judaism and Confucionism spread to us.
910 AD: Epheseus founded north of Moscow.
930 AD: Engineering completed. I go for Philosophy with the idea of taking Pacifism, but I chicken out and decline to choose a state religion. I should have though, in hind sight.
940 AD: France offers 210 gold for Currency. He's only three turns away, so I take it.
A Great Scientist pops.
960 AD: France demands back the money they just paid us. He's currently teching Feudalism at 23 turns, so I send him off broke. Currency must not have given him the money he needs.
Taking a look at France's armies, they have quite a lot of swords and axes and a fair number of galleys.
I start Notre Dame in Athens.
980 AD: Philosophy is in. I go for Theology and Divine Right for Versailles. Taoism founded in Corinth.
New city founded southwest of Moscow.
1000 AD: Theology is in. Hinduism spreads to us.
I use the last GS to bulb Paper. Maybe not the best choice.
New city founded South of Athens.
1010 AD: I whip out a bunch of buildings. Forges, lighthouses, observatories, etc. I was contemplating a war machine soon, but it never happened.
1050 AD: Louis DoW on Pacal.
I start building settlers to send to the land south of France. I'll try and colonize it, and will probably liberate them. I'll use this as a base of attack on France.
1060 AD: France captures Chichen Itza (the city, not the wonder). This is deep into Pacal's territory. I like it. Let's just hope france can't keep it up.
1090 AD: Divine Right completed. I go for Printing Press. Islam founded.
I don't know what to do about Verseilles. I consider building it near Athens, with an eye to moving our capitol to the New World. I start it in Moscow, unhappy about this choice. It is my second best producer, but still will take 40 turns, even after giving all the scientists pick axes.
1100 AD: Notre Dame completed in Athens.
1180 AD: Louis adopts Vassalage.
1190 AD: Printing Press is in. Slider at 40%, with -11 GPT, making 360 beakers.
Pacal asks me to DoW on France, but I decline. Tempting.
I change my mind about Verseilles. It's taking forever, so I think I'll just let someone else build it. I gift Divine Right to France and hope he builds it. It was a waste to research it.
Etritia founded south of France near the beaver.
1210 AD: Parthenon completed in Beijing. Nice city
1220 AD: Granted independance to our colonies, placing Justinian I on their throne. Gifted them iron and horses.
1230 AD: Justinian is already coming in handy. He picked up Aesthetics somewhere and gifted it to us.
1255 AD: Justinian converts to Christianity. I start the Moai Statues west of Athens. Not sure about this choice, but it's fine I guess.
1265 AD: Captured barbarian city north of Russia. Burn it.
1270 AD: Captured barbarian city south of France. Gifted to Justinian.
1275 AD: Nationalism in. I go for Literature.
1280 AD: Literature in. I go for Guilds.
1285 AD: Mycenae (northern-most city). starts building HE with chops.
Great Engineer pops.
1295 AD: Use the GE to rush Versailles in Moscow. This isn't the most effective use, but oh well.
1300 AD: Guilds in. I start Banking.
Slider is 40% at 436 beakers with +6 gold.
Some Screens:
Overview:
Okay, so not a terribly strong turn. I could have done better on several choices.
Tech route was: Astronomy, Engineering, Philosophy, Theology, Paper (bulb), Divine Right, Printing Press, Feudalism, Nationalism, Literature, Guilds.
Pros:
Slider is running in the green at 40%, producing 436 BPT.
Notre Dame and Verseilles (and MoM, obviously).
Easy point of entry for combat in the new world.
Picked up a few extra resources (beaver and deer) as tribute from our vassal.
Basic attack force awaiting orders in the new world.
Basic navy: 5 or 6 Galleons.
Cons:
Liberalism is still a ways off. I didn't bother pursuing it, because I'm sure will still take it first.
I played a few things inefficiently. For example, Verseilles and my micromanagement.
I should have done more with my civics.
No golden ages this turn.
I forgot about the Taj Mahal! There's still time I think (maybe).

), including Autolog. So I will be playing my round shortly.
is based purely on scientist specialists atm, so Representation is strong.
+77!? That's great! I up the slider to 20% and go for Paper. I am thinking Education early for some universities (and OX in Athens), and to grab Lib.
.
) Still though, specific comments are definately welcome.
. Hardware problems are ticky-tac to figure out to begin with, and in writing it's even harder.
