Monasteries do not function as advertised.

The G&K Enhanced Mod blatantly lies about what the Monastery really does.

When picking beliefs for a religion, Monasteries claim to boost the Faith output of a city by 50%. This is completely false. In fact, the function of the Monastery is unchanged from the unmodded game. You can see this in the first two attachments. (And yes, Faith output of my city is only boosted by 20% with a Monastery, from 7 to 8.4.)

Needless to say, this ruined an otherwise perfectly good session. :mad:

In attachments 3-5, you can see a list of all the mods I am running. None of them, save for G&K Enhanced, alters the functionality of Faith-purchased buildings. Therefore, the fault must lie with this mod.

I sincerely hope that this egregious error is hastily corrected.

So I have nothing to do with the creation of this mod but have you verified that this is an actual game error or just a text bug (the UI fails to update the changes?).

On a side note, and this is just a personal thing, but you have to understand how much work and time goes into these mods. Your attitude, which comes off as entitled, does nothing but reduce the motivation of those who spend their own free time, getting paid nothing, to help improve the experience of others. Instead of simply reporting an issue, an oversight, you accuse the creators of lying. Really, really unnecessary. All that was necessary was a simple bug report.

An alternative is also to boost monasteries to actually provide 50% as described. I'm not sure when this was changed as I use my own modded economic effects that include this at 50% and it's been a while since following the precise version changes (especially with the beta version and Thal's sabbatical). It requires adjusting an xml file in the GEC_Faith file in the buildings directory of GEM. Look for this.
Spoiler :
Code:
<Building_YieldModifiers>
		<Row>
			<BuildingType>BUILDING_MONASTERY</BuildingType>
			<YieldType>YIELD_FAITH</YieldType>
			<Yield>20</Yield>
		</Row>
	</Building_YieldModifiers>
, or add it, and change the yield to 50. That will not effect a save game other than the loss of extra faith accumulated prior to the change.

What version are you using? If I remember right there was discussion of parking monasteries as part of the piety tree effects and that might explain why they were changed. The actual change to the tree didn't happen though, which is certainly a problem.

Thal seems to be playing again so there's a chance of polishing up the GK mod. Stuff like this matters. It's not however deliberately done to ruin your gaming experience.

I'm just angry and venting, especially since things were going so well until that very moment. I'm allowed to do that.

Putmalk, totally agree with you.
ThisNameIsTooLo, have you paid any cents for this mod? No - then stop whining :nono:

Aside from getting angry over such a silly thing in a GAME, I don't find "venting" ur anger on mod offer to be a good idea...

Just saying.
