There are two classic movie vampires:

Dracula--

and Nosferatu--

But which one is more is more iconic in the world of cinema?

I'm not much of a cinema-buff, but I would have to go with Count Dracula.

dude this aint a debate

To be fair Nosferatu did come nine years before Dracula.
Yeah, so? Florence Stoker screwed the Nosferatu-makers out of business so badly that it took years for prints to surface again. And Nosferatu was pretty clearly cribbing the Dracula book and popular play, too.

Not a debate. Nosferatu has a incredible presence in pop-culture considering it's legal problems, but it's mostly just the silhouette. Bela Lugosi's Dracula on the other hand, sets the template for modern vampires. Their strengths, weaknesses, the sexual element, everything. When someone writes something with vampires in it these days, the first thing they do is figure out what the differences are from the "standard" vampire, which is basically Universal Picture's Dracula.

Nosferatu is a beautiful piece of cinema, but it didn't have the impact that Dracula did. And that's nothing to be ashamed of.

This, basically.

With a particular emphasis on this:

Both movies are absolutely stupendous, incredible works of art, both in their own respective ways. The difference is Lugosi has come to serve as an archetype for the vampire which has endured for nearly a century.

Wow, I was surprised this poll din't have any sparkly vampires! Only the real ones! But yeah, Dracula is king.

Count Dracula by far if only because of cartoons and parodies featuring him. I can't think of a single parody of Nosferatu and the only depictions of him outside of the movie itself I know of is in Shadow of the Vampire and a random episode of Muppet Babies.

Dracula (or obvious parodies and variations of him) on the other hand is featured in countless other books, television shows and movies. Marvel Comics, Dracula Dead and Loving it, Van Helsing, Scooby Doo, Ed Wood, Sesame Street, and the list goes on....

I think Dracula will remain the Vampire King for sometime. Let's just hope Edward Cullen doesn't eclipse him.

Nosferatu is by far cooler though. William Defoe playing Max Schreck playing Nosferatu is one of my favorite roles of all time.

Nosferatu was on Spongebob.

Though he was a Nosferatu, I thought his name was Count Orlok.

Sort of like the first one is a vampire, but his name is Dracula.

Everyone knows Dracula, when Nosferatu only seems to be known by those who dig deep into the vampire myth.

And as has been said, Dracula is considered the archetype vampire: being well-refined despite their behavior, and being incubi and succubi made flesh.
