More Time = Longer Distance / Slower Velocity

We should have cheerier names for days rather than "work day 1" -> "work day 4" just to add some fun!
Religion Day, Knowledge Day, Athletic Day, Social Day, Cultural Day, Vacation Day -> this is probably what Perfection prefers the most.

We get an extra second every few years.

We'll need 64,800 seconds or 18 hours to make up enough difference to increase 365.25 to 366 days per year.

We will first need to grow a couple of extra fingers.
This 6-fingers hand looks pretty good, although I prefer 3 segments for the 6th fingers which will be much better for playing the piano -

For the 6th toes, it'll be best for them to grow forward-out from the inner-front corners of the foot heels which are under the arches where the least supportive areas locate.

I like most of them except have question on religion day, is that for boring religions that worship ordinary gods or cool religions that worship numbers? I mean I'd go to the church of 12. 12 is a pretty neat number.

Religion Day is free to any religions, our nation has the freedom according to the Constitution, so you get to choose.

If you want 366 days in a year you'd have to speed up the Earth's rotation, not slow it down, resulting in shorter days.

I mean, I still have no idea what's going on in this thread so I don't know if that helps at all.

Actually not quite. We can gain or lose a second depending lots of things. Massive earthquakes, tidal effects (not just from the moon) and other things can both speed up and slow the speed of the rotation of the Earth. The effect that Valka talked about is due to the slowly spiralling out that the moon is doing - as it gets further from us, the Earth loses rotational velocity like a figure skater extending their arms in a spin. This is real and measurable over long time periods but the leap second adjustments that happen irregularly can actually go both ways (lose or gain a second) and are due to lots of things including the lunar recession from the Earth.

Anyways, if we went for a 6 day week, I propose eliminating Mondays. That way we can start the week with tacos.
We can't eliminate Mondays. That's when Papa John's has 50% pizza discounts for their online customers. That's the only place here where I can get spinach alfredo pizzas that I like, so Mondays are really important.

Not to mention, Canadian Thanksgiving is on the second Monday in October, so everyone's got pumpkin pie and turkey on our minds right now.

Here's Perfection's post few years ago, good thing I can still find the old topic thread -

Maybe I should say "6 days in a week" as Sunday, "Work Day 1", "Work Day 2", "Work Day 3", "Work Day 4", Saturday.

Why start the week with Sunday? That doesn't make any sense. Start with the first day of the workweek and end with the weekEND.

I also vote we rename the weekdays. Many people don't know this but Thursday is for instance named after Thor. I'm an atheist and that doesn't sit well with me. I say Thursday becomes something more neutral, like Rockday.

Isaac Asimov talked about this in one of his essays I read some 30-odd years ago. I remember being sad when I read that some day we will no longer have total solar eclipses because the Moon will be too far away.

Right now everything is at the perfect distance. So enjoy the solar eclipses; we won't have them forever.

Moanday, Chewsday, (I don't recall what the cat version of Wednesday is), Fursday, Fried Egg, Caturday, (I'm also blanking on what Sunday is).

But that's just how the solar system is arranged. Sunlight hitting Earth every day is a normal fact of nature.

Parties aren't.

"6 days in a week" means any 1 of the existing 7 days can be taken out as an one-time choice. Of course, most people will vote "Monday" out because of the traditions. If 60 Senators and 217 House Representatives vote yes, we'll get the change.

Note: super-majority will be needed in Senate to change any major existing laws. "Good thing 7 days in a week" isn't written in the Constitution, otherwise 2/3 majority will be the minimum to request a repeal for calendar.

Should be interesting how you guys cope with having a different calendar to the rest of the world. Than again you're still using that archaic measurement system too.

I'd slowing down the speed that Earth revolving around the sun(Revolving Velocity) or making that orbit longer(Revolving Circumference) by moving the Earth a bit further away from the sun(it'll relieve the global warming a bit also).

It's very similar to the existing Sunday, people can rest or do some other activities to replenish their lives. Not everyone in the United States celebrate every holiday, but most of them get days off.

If no more Mondays, all the pre-defined holidays and their associated activities will go to the next day(Tuesday) just like you automatically get Mondays off when the holidays land on Sundays.

This is how Garfield defines his most important Monday -

The calendar I post is for a different planet like an Exo Planet, so it won't bother to produce a new "6 days in a week" movie. I'm pretty sure humans have used many different calendar systems throughout the entire Earth history, at least Chinese have the lunar calendar and it copes okay with the solar calendar, I try to combine the 2 up but just for fun.

Party Day is Party Obligatory while other days are Party Optional
Very cool! My "Social Day" already covers the "Party Day". People should have more choices on which types of social obligations they can participate in. No party is completely cost free for every attendant including the host unless there are tax returns offered for hosting more parties. There are more casual and official social programs including dating, nightclub, parade, conference, campaign and charity.

In my old high school, it offered "Earth System", "Biology", "Chemistry", "Physics" and some other electives such as "Marine Science", "Environmental Science", "Physiology" and "Zoology". I was only required to take 2-3 of them depending on the credits.

Party is just one subject of Social Day.

How about

Firstday
Tacoday
Middleday
Baconday
Friedday
Partyday
Restday
We need to cover food, clothes, house, transportation, education and entertainment in balance to keep the society productive. Your production line is mainly foods.

For example, biking and car racing are 2 types of sport also 2 types of transportation equipment which fit ideal on Athletic Day along with other sport activities.

If there's a "Religion Day" there should also be an "Godlessness Day" to counter-balance it.

But we don't really have enough days to fit all these concepts into them. You know what I realized though? There are 7 deadly sins and 7 days so

Slothday
Prideday
Greedday
Envyday
Gluttonyday
Lustday
Wrathday

There are also 7 dwarfs, who also have negative names. But sneezyday sounds stupid so we're not doing that

Labor Day is designed to fit both the diligent and lazy people, so the counter-balance coverage is already there.

Some days will stand out as a weekly day whereas other days only appear yearly depending on their importance to the wide majority of people. We don't need Thanksgiving Day every week because the harvest seasons run on a yearly cycle.

This is a good example how you have 2-in-1 day with 2 different definitions(1 weekly and 1 yearly) -
https://d1ejxu6vysztl5.cloudfront.net/comics/garfield/2017/2017-06-19.gif

Sometimes a special day like "Teachers' Walk Out Day" just appear, I had 1 on Feb 5th of my senior high year.

In conclusion, warpus, I know you only need this 1 day on a weekly basis - "Lottery Day".

Bacon is extremely important to warpus. :scan: Ideally your new system should have a whole month named for it.

(I'm not into bacon itself, but am moderately addicted to bacon-flavored potato chips)

Doc
Happy
Bashful
Dopey
Grumpy
Sneezy
Sleepy

What's negative about Doc and Happy?

In Lolcat/Cheezburger terms...

Happy Cat
Grumpy Cat
Ceiling Cat
Basement Cat
Moral Grey Area Cat
Business Cat
Dr. Tiny Cat

Hmm... there's also Monorail Cat, Hovercat, Chemistry Cat, Longcat, Tacgnol, Hipster Cat, Batcat, Peeking Cat, Shat Cat... I'm forgetting some of them.
