The Iroquois, their cousins the Cherokee and other North Amerind tribes used a glyph script before European contact, comparable to Egypt.

Thank you for correcting me. ;)

I think it would be pretty dumb to mod the UU since they would have figured out horseback riding long before the Spanish occupation if there were horses here to domesticate. Especially since the game randomly spawns resources, and is of course a "what if" scenario. The Spanish might have run into an entirely different situation.

the mexicans arent the aztecs. the aztecs and mexicans are different. mexicans are in north america and aztecs are in central america. they are totally different cultures.

It makes me sad that not many people mentioned Nubia, which would make a great addition to the game. Nubia had a rich history, and was very independent from Egypt throughout most of its history. I encourage everyone to read a little bit about it, as it is very, very, very interesting. As I've said before, Nubia would represent black Africa quite well, as they were an educated people with a beautiful culture not centered on war, like the Zulu were.

I'd love if they added one of the Arab countries so I could kick their ass. Help me take out some of my agression

Gee, you think God would have some fun playing as Israel no? Albeit he already has been doing so IRL

"Nobody has mentioned a British civ. I think we can bin the English and have the British instead, or rather the Britons (ancient Britons that is). "

I like that idea

"Where do you find the logic in "Moslems are actually the most peaceful people in the world". History doesn't support this claim(read up on your history), nor does todays situation. All this Anti-American bulll****, they're not perfect, but they're not worse than us either. I'm telling you you'd be sorry if USA didn't "push" these wars. You make it sound like US goes into war just for fun.

btw: I'm not an american, I live in anti-american Norway, I hear these lines every day."

Thanks for posting this, it's encouraging to read it from a Norwegian. Like you, I am tired of hearing this anti-American crap out of many Europeans (even on a game board). I'm not going to list all the great things that America has done for the world, but I will say that post 9/11, I'm beginning to care less and less about the rest of the world.

Glad to hear that not all Europeans feel the same way their media does (I have distant relatives in Germany that tell me it's all media induced).

Turks must be included. It's a shame that we've been forgotten in Civ3.
You all know Ottoman Empire. Ottoman Empire was founded in 1299. And we are still here. Not as Ottomans but Turkey.
Do you know our borders in 1612? Well... All of Anatolia and Arab Peninsula + Egypt + Algeria + Tunusia + Trablusgarp. And in the west all balkans till Vienna. Black Sea (under Russia) was a Turkish lake. We were the world's most powerful empire at that time in all points (culturel, military, commerical......)
We got a huge impact on world history. We battled on WW1 as Germany's alliance. Maybe you may hear our Canakkale Legend. The best battleships on earth (France, England troops including Queen Elizabeth) couldn't get past The Dardanelles. We hadn't got better ships but we knew (and still know) how to battle and win. But we defeated in WW1 cause German was defeated and the most powerful states were against us (France, England, USA, Japan, Russia).
I don't count Constantinople's defeat, cause you all know this.
But Turkish history doesn't start with Ottomans. I can easily say that Turks are on earth since the dawn of time :p

Well anyways... We're included in PTW and hopefully in Civ4 (if there will be a Civ4).

I think the Ottomans should be Militaristic/Religious (if a third option could avaible, it might be Expansionist).

The Hungarians!

Why?

They (as the Rest of Europe) were rushed by the barbarian Tatars (some kind of Mongols), but they managed to get rid of them,

They and the Habsburgs defended Europe from the evil (only at this time)Turks,

After World War 2, they were occupied by the Soviets, but they revoltet as one of the first countries and leaded the succession in fighting the communism.

Hungary did many things for Europe and the rest of the world, but they never got the thanks and admiration they would have earned.
If Hungary hasn't been (and still is), we maybe wouldn't have such a good Europe today.

But generally, there are many great nations missing in that game...

It is beyond my ability, but someone should create a HUGE world map and include the original 16 civs, plus the 16 in the survey. Would be a heck of a game:crazyeye:

Huns were Turkic... meaning they were basically from the same family as the Tartars and Turks.

Lots of reading material out there that supports this... but from what I understand many Hungarians refuse to accept there is any link - possibly due to the wars against the Ottoman Turks (Battle of Mohacs 1526) and the following occupation by them.

The Turks were never evil, how can anyone make that claim against another? The Ottoman Court had many of its highest positions filled by non-Turks. Arts, Culture flourished, law & order was sought (Sultan Sulieman is known as the Law Giver).

Sure there were acts carried out at times that could be considered evil, but these were no different than other events such as the crusades.

Aside from that, I would of liked the Huns in it as well - hell the more the better! :)

Maybe after we finish stuffing Europe with 30 or so civs, we can put more civs in Africa or the Americas.
Such as the Incas, Mayans, Nubians, Malians, Abyssinians, and Anasazi.

Seriously, we are so focused on Europe and haven't thought about civs outside of Europe or civs that haven't constantly fought them. We need some more outside of Europe. Just my opinion.

The Abyssinians were called the teachers of the Egyptians. How the most ANCIENT & UNCONQUERED Civilization can be overlooked is beyond me. I would of went for them over Zulus ANYDAY! Some of you think the Zulus were great warriors, just ask the Italians what they thought of the Ethiopians :)

Look on almost any world history map, and one thing that is almost always there, neverchanging is the empire of the Abyssinians. That longetivity in itself is reason enough for them to be included in Civ3 ( I know I will add them to my edited version of the game:))

I'm trying not to sound ignorant, but by Abyssinia do you mean present-day Ethiopia, Somalia, etc., or all of that combined with Nubia and other neighboring areas? I'd be all for an Abyssinia civ if it incorporated Nubia, as I absolutely love that region.

It is logical that most civs are from Europe (and Asia) because those are the civs that have been most succesful and we have more knowledge about these civs than some tiny extinct civ in America that left a few temples behind. If you think about it, all the great civs are either European or Asian. I'm not insulting, just telling it the way it is.

On the other hand, if you were from China, you would consider Europe a single civ. These Europeans all have the same barbarian manners anyway.
Europe would have to compete with the great civs of Tibet, Mantsuria, Nepal, Chosan, Viet, Khmer, Laos etc., who all have a clearly distinct and much better known history. :)

Now, if you were Sioux, ....
You get my drift.
