I really don't know how to start this thread, but there are a few things I want to discuss. First everyone is adding in the possibility of motion gaming. Is motion controls the future of gaming and will controllers become obsolete? Second do you guys prefer motion or a controler? I would much rather have a control over a motion controller and would hate everything to become motion. Thoughts?

Controllers take less effort to use. However, almost nobody has used Sony's Move or Microsoft's Kinect, and the Wii is just poorly implemented in 99% of its games so its hard to really tell how well they work.

I hear for fantastic controls on the Wii, a Wii Motion Plus is necessary. That comes with Red Steel 2, which is, by the way, supposed to be amazing.

I think continual innovation on the interface between man and game should continue to evolve. I think the X-box360 controller is awesome, but hardly perfect and I'm not very creative :p

I really hope motion control gaming and 3-D games disappear and are just a fad. When I want to relax, I don't want to have to jump around and wave my arms to make Mario and Yoshi jump.

Disclaimer: Never actually played a motion controlled game (cept DDR and Guitar Hero).

I have a Wii but the fact that The Playstation now has a motion controller system scares me. :scared: (And if I did not make myself clear, I prefer controllers.)

While the Wii has a lot of bad motion games, it also has its 1% of games that prove that motion control can be entirely awesome as well.

Just try Metroid Prime 3. I find it to be the best FPS control scheme on any console.

The trick is implementing it without it feeling forced. Don't motion control because it's the wii, motion control because it makes the game better. Also, make motion an option, not a requirement. The DS developers learned this - sure it's got a touch screen but you dont NEED to use it for every game.

I don't want to control video games with my body. If I wanna wave around a sword I'll go do sword classes, if I wanna play bowling I'll go play bowling. Jesus Christ.

Why would anyone play this, when it would be far more rewarding to just play a real guitar? It's perplexing...

But are sword classes as fun as destroying trolls?

A sword class simply cannot immerse you in a fantasy world.

That's about the only reason video games are fun. You can't always or at least most of the time do what's in the game. If you could do everything a game did in real life then video games would be boring. Except maybe civ, then IRL it would be stressful, so I'll stick to the game in that one.

Distipe what many say, I like the Wii. Mario, Metroid, and the upcoming Kirby (Don't the removal of copy abilities, though) never fail to disappoint, and are or look fun (I left out Zelda because the Gamecube version of TP is vastly superior). And distipe what many say, there are decent 3rd Party games (No More Heroes, for one, and the upcoming Goldeneye remake looks like the next killer app). However, I hate motion control unless used correctly. For some, like MP3, SMG, and the port of Ghost Squad, its done pretty well (I would had loved a Gamecube controller option for MP3, though, to make it feel like the first two games). They don't go overboard with it, and therefore it flows smoothly. Other games, however, decide to go completely insane with it, and it ruins the flow. The same thing happened to the DS. Some went overboard with the touchscreen, and it ruined it. MP:H, while I wouldn't say ruined, fell victim to the over reliance of the Touchscreen.

Why play sports games, instead of going out and actually playing sports?

Time. Rhythm/Music games are completely unlike actually playing an instrument, and it's all just timing and practice. You can learn how to play the game faster and cheaper than learning how to play a guitar well.

As a personal anecdote, I never would've been interested in playing drums if not for Rock Band.
A friend of mine liked Guitar hero or whatever; he bought a guitar to learn how to play, but then he realised he has to practice and got bored with it in a few weeks. Then he got back to playing that game.

It should be noted that this guy is an anime freak, Wow freak, videogames freak. So you'll prolly not end up doing what he did. It makes sense for him not to want the real thing. Also, he wanted to learn some sort of jap-rock solo on the guitar; of course, playing a 2 minute powermetal solo is kinda hard especially if you've never played a guitar before. This was part of his reason for quiting.

Anyway, more on topic, to quote CAD (from memory:confused:): "i already jack off, why do i need motion gaming for ?" (i think he was reffering to Wii at that point)
