Multipolarity III - Game Thread

Indonesia is currently guaranteeing Spammer independence. You can never be too careful with Negan around.

Malay thinks Indonesia should focus on its northern neighbor and stay out of Negan's business.

Russia notes many nations have a shortage of raw materials to run at full capacity or recruit new armies, even with the recent boon to raw material production. Having 165 raw materials available for sale, Russia agrees to entertain offers. Except from the HITSGDP and Papal bloc, of course. Naturally higher prices per unit will be accepted over others, though Russia retains full discretion over whether or not it approves a sale in whole or in part.

Russia notes it accepts technology as well as money for resource shipments.

The Imperium askes Russia to reconsider tir foreign policy. As His Imperial Majesty is married to your Oxana we suggest you heed us. Have a break from war. Heed Poland its land back. It is a Christain thing to do.

OOC: Happy St David's Day! :D

Who is allied, or have a defensive pact, with the Spammers Crusade?

Namibia is an ally of both the Spammers and Manx.

Costa Rica offers Russia 200 gold for 20 raw materials.

Hyontou makes the same offer, needing to power its factories so as to maintain economic supremacy.

Orders lock in 72 hours.

Just figured I'd get an announcement up there.

I look forward to the economic warfare now that suzerains enjoy great priority over their clients' resources. ;)

==An Announcement from the Russian Ministry of Trade==

Do your factories sit untapped? Are you strapped for raw materials? Well look no further! Mother Russia has many resources contained within its vast borders, and is willing to sell them to you!

You have surely seen the obscene prices some pay for resources. But let us economically analyse this for you!

The average nation-state can pay its energy needs just fine or acquire cheap energy off the market. But raw materials' demand still outstrips their supply. So let us do some math.

The nation of Tropico's goods are worth 66 gold. For every 2 raw materials and 1 energy they purchase, they'd produce 63 gold. With a tax rate of 30%, that means they'd stand to gain 18.9 gold per unit manufactured, and as such, would still profit if it took 17 gold to acquire such resources. This isn't touching on the increased economic power that comes from greater clout in world trade.

That is just one example! Do your cost/benefit analyses, and feel free to stop by newly-Russified St. Petersburg to hammer out a trade deal!

ooc: Is Namibia the only nation that has never bought raw materials and energy?

Possibly given your country was fighting a war for most of its existence. :p

Namibia has a shortage of 24 raw materials to power its factories however, and- oh look at that. You have exclusive rights on 24 raw materials this turn.

Don't waste it! :p

As I mentioned to everyone, it only makes sense to absorb all your clients' resources as they show up: they increase in price and you lose your exclusive rights to them if you don't buy them the turn they show up.

ooc: I will never buy any energy or materials any time soon. Why buy them and spend a lot of money when I produce enough myself for my factories to work?

Well actually Namibia's exactly at its resource max currently, with 24 RM domestically. To power all 24 factories 48 RM are needed; fortunately there are 24 RM waiting in Namibia's market, cheaply purchased for 4 gold each.

But I digress. Everyone should buy resources the turn they show up!

Will lead to some fun client wars.

ooc: Does this mean that if I do not buy anything this turn, my factories will not work?

It means only half of them will produce anything. :p

The downside of building armies is the raw materials aren't used to power factories, hurting the economy. Too many troops cripples a nation!

Is there any indicator that shows how much of what resources we need to run our economy at full strength because for whatever reason it isn't obvious to me

Dammit. I bought them.

EDIT: Look at my new orders.

Your Industry Level*2 is how many raw materials you need, whereas you only need energy equal to your Industry. I think you have to round industry down to a whole number first though.

DT

DT is correct! And gets 5 gold added to his trade tech as thanks for assisting.

Then you can calculate exactly how much buying goods is worth to you by doing your value of goods * tax rate, thus being able to determine if you could turn a profit or not.

For example if your tax rate is 25%, and your goods (that's 1 energy and 2 raw materials churned through a factory), are worth 60 gold, since the gain is 15 gold, you wouldn't want to spend any more than that acquiring resources.

When in doubt, remember indirect benefits of an economic powerhouse. Such as the ability to invest more money than your opponents, or to make your embargoes much more powerful.

Is there something I can sign so I don't have to keep asking for stats every turn?
