Revision of the Imperial Army of Man

By Lord Mayor Thomas Abelson of Liverpool as ordered by His Imperial Majesty, Gilmore Flanagon

The Imperium must be ever noted of its army to ensure order and peace. It is by preparing for war that nations end up in peace. Know your power and power of others to know fully of how to earn victory, for victory is mere messurement of military wins or loses but how the world is shaped from the event. A grand victory resulting in a scored world is no victory. The Soveit conquest of Finland only resulted in a victory in name only for the Soviets, thanks to the efforts of the Finish. Hence we must from this declare going to war as rolling dice, dice which may result in a high or low number, let it is not often destined by raw hard power that the dice is set to six. By this many states take war as a option that should only be set if offer ways of exploitation and politics is not set. This is in wisdom is noted as wise.

To ensure further the need to ensure war preparation equals peace, one must publicly declare their military make up... well at least that which be needed to scare off enemies. Hence the Emperor of Man's order for I to declare a public breifing of Manx military make up. I have taken the liberty of inserting a image of our forces for public viewing, along with a little note on the forces.

Imperial Troops.png

In order the forces, from left to right, are as follows:

  • Conscript: every man of Mann offered the chance to serve the Emperor on the battlefeild should take the honour to serve mankind like this. Their training may not be... notable as regular troops but they are useful for numbers and cannon fodder aiding the army in its advances.

  • Irreguler: conscripts that take up arms and prove to be called upon in crisis are set to be a irregular. They are given better training and entrusted with basic body armour.

  • Regular: those consripts that earn their will and those that volunteer even when conscription is not called upon are set to serve as basic regulars of the Imperial Army of Man. The IAM is thankful of these lot, who are often set with basic body armour that be camouflaged. They will serve the Emperor in battle!

  • Marine: trusted with basic cobalt body armour, these fighters are in honour of serving with the navy as the solution to fighting from the sea. They are no victim on land either, setting themselves for enviromental training that matches the regulars but given better armour then the regulars.

  • Legionnaire: trusted with almost full cobalt armour, these guys are entrusted to commence ruthless combat in order to conquer defend. They are given proffessional training that lesser warriors envy for. They are trusted with some grand weopons. They are even tasked for critical missions. Overall they feared by many.

  • Special Task Force Trooper: those that fail the training of a Imperial Commando or other elite warrior of the Imperium are trusted with their skills to serve on the flont line as recon units. Recon duty in the Imperium is valued highly however, so these scouts are not to be delt with lightly. Failing commando training still notes that they attempted the training of a elite warrior, hence they are given a polished course on ensuring what they learned can be set in pratice. While their armour is not as strong as the legionnaire's, their armour is still impressive, notably in excelling the legionnaire in head gear via TT style helmet. They are trained in marksmanship and often set to serve along commandos in operations most grand. Notably these ranks like the commandos and have women among them.

  • Vanguard: set on the front line for the defence of the army, these elite troops are set in full cobalt armour, complete with helmet. They are trusted with state of the art weopons, including early worms of laser weopons we are trying to develop for future operations. They are given voice modules in their helmet as a way to bring fear to the enemy. Naturally the training process is harsher than harsh, with admitted records of some fetalities but the results are worth it. These are among the most feared of the Imperium.

  • Imperial Crusader: the name given to those troops that are rewarded with even grander training, the state of the art armour and set to their faith with powerful weopons. These are often set for the core of the army or to lead missions against those that do not follow the will of the Lord. To fear these is wisdom. To honour these is wisdom. To have these to order is prestige.

  • Imperial Guard: the greatest honour a warrior in the Imperium of Man can earn is to serve as the personal guardians of His Imperial Majesty. As well as guarding the Emperor's homes and escort him where he goes, they are also set to serve on the battlefeild with not just guarding the Emperor and his family but also to command forces on objectives most vital. They are given not just training in military matters but in imperial court manners to set them above the other warriors. They are given grand armour and weopons but they are universally noted by their longcoats, set to ensure them as destinced from other troops. They are also noted for standing still for long hours in guard duty. They are national icons that inspire many to take the gun in the name of the Empire of Man.

Note I have left out the Imperial Commandos and other troops that have no uniformed settings, especill in respect to the covert nature of the Imperial Commandos. Glory to God with these who serve the Emperor of Man.

God thanks the IAM, for they give all for one as one for all!

OOC: taken in note of a similar revision in IOT IX.

The templates I used to help design the troops, along with the copyright information, are from here.

Make it so missiles have a set range.

Problem solved. :p

And make it possible to situtate bombs in client states. That means that you could have Cubas of the world becoming proxy-warzones over a nuclear missile. Genius!

I suggest these additions become part of the rules. give nukes a set range. allow cilent states to be valid staging areas for nukes. allow people to research multiple stages of nukes, but their would be 3 routes: missile accuracy, missile range, and nuclear yeild. allow espionage to determine whether a nation has nukes. this will make nukes have a far more interesting...effect. it also allows one to represent how not all nations nukes are the same. or missiles. plus, it means clinets are even more important: cuba missile crisis events are possible.

It will also triple the cost of researching nukes. And lets be honest, accuracy? When you're throwing around weapns that target entire provinces, you don't need accuracy. Given that nukes payload already go up as you get different tiers, the only real change this gives is to limit nukes effectiveness whilst increasing their cost.

Nuclear weapons are not supposed to be cheap and easy to research on your own in the first place. Just look at the number of nuclear programs that have been successful in the world. Now count the ones that were done by one nation all alone.

Secondly, accuracy is important in a sense. You can miss by a lot. This isn't a problem against a city. It is a problem if you're aiming for critical infrastructure and hardened structures.

Finally, you can't just throw all this in now in the first place. It would be exceedingly difficult than just saying "well, now there are three more techs and nukes, have at it".

Plus, I curtailed the number of WMD tech specifically to focus the game on the more economic and diplomatic aspects.

Allegheny Mountains, Solitude Republic

"Tango sighted two kicks ahead."

The squad in training has spotted an OPFOR within a distance and has made a pursuit to engage. Within the Allegheny base, General Issac has been overseeing the training of the Republic Army for their full potential. The General has taken the initiative to train the military while the Republic continues to invest in it's industrial infrastructure.

Inside General Issac's office, he's been reviewing the Imperial Army of Man's make up of it's armed forces. "'...needed to scare off enemies'" Gen. Issac said while rubbing his chin "It's only given the initiative for me to whip my men in top shape and improve the Republic's Army." He then places his hands onto his desk, addressing the commanding officer of the base "The Imperium of Man has deemed us as a weak nation, only worthy of a footnote in history and destruction. I want to see to it that we dispel their myth of us being a weak nation. Even their response of 'how long' in regards to our proposal to the non-aggression pact with them shows that they hold imperialist intent against us. They don't see us as equals."

Colonel Alex, commanding officer of the Allegheny base, nodded at General Isacc "Given the situation with them conquering Newfoundland, We should defenately keep our guard up."

"I have no doubt the Canadian Republic would take issue of the Imperium of Man setting up a colony within their sphere of influence. While the Canadians are open to negotiation, it would only be a matter of time before the powder keg blows."

Another Republic officer has arrived, a major who is reporting to General Issac on the expedition in Virginia and another major from an expeditionary team from northern Ohio. Major Thompson from the Virginian expeditionary division relayed his report. "General Issac..."

"At ease Major, tell me what you found in the ruins of Virginia."

"My men have completed a servey of the D.C. Capitol region. We've found the ruins of the Pentagon and an old Enclave bunker situated on Raven Rock. Both of these locations housed power armor technologies and direct energy weapons. I'd suggest that we integrate them into our armed forces."

"Anything else, I'm sure there's more than just old military hardware and infrastructure lying around in the Capitol District."

"We also surveyed the ruins of Portsmouth and discovered the old Norfolk Naval Shipyards. This is something the Admiralty would be interested in."

"Excellent, I'll let the admiralty know about this as soon as possible." General Issac turns to the major from the Ohio expedition "Any news from the old buckeye state?"

Major Victor soon relays to the General "We found old derelict oil wells and natural gas rigs dotting across the state. Similar to the ones found in Pennsylvania."

"It may not be much, but it can certainly aid us in the long run." The General straightened himself upright "Gentelemen, your all dismissed. Continue what you were doing. I'm off to oversee the training of our Military."

Solitude White House, Solitude

President Hanna Antilles has hosted a meeting with her Cabinet, top military brass, and a small group of entrepreneurs. Admiral Brown stood up to deliver the report about the findings of the Norfolk Naval Shipyards "Ma'dam President, we have recovered the ruins of the old Norfolk Naval Shipyards in Virginia. I'd suggest that we synergize the naval shipyards in Portsmouth and Southern Connecticut and Rhode Island to bolster our naval strength."

"I'll consider it, but are their plans for these four shipyards to offer anything productive when they're not building ships?"

Admiral Brown nodded "Of course. The Electric Boat shipyard would focus on developing effective fire control systems for our ships and their engineers design the next generation of ships. While Portsmouth and Norfolk develop metallurgical techniques to make the hulls of our ships stronger and lighter." The admiral then turns to the small group of blooming entrepreneurs "And these techniques can be also applied to the industrial sector, not only developing stronger ships, but also stronger and lighter building materials."

"That would be certainly good news for the network of Carnegie Steel Mills that dot across Pennsylvania." CEO of Republic Steel remarked.

"I'm also made aware that we've discovered a reserves of oil and natural gas in Ohio." President Hanna stated, she then turns to her Energy Secretary and asked "What of the ruins of Three Mile Island? Are we making it into an operational nuclear plant or a breeder reactor?"

"We've discussed it amongst this within the Department of Energy. We've decided to go with a revolutionary approach, housing a breeder reactor and a conventional reactor at the same site. I'd figure since the Imperium of Man is entering into the Nuclear Industry, we should guard ourselves against a foreseeable monopoly and produce our own nuclear fuel. We shouldn't neglect to start looking into the use of wind farms and researching into nuclear fusion."

"Let me know how the breeder-conventional reactors turn out. If it proves beneficial to the Republic, I'd place in consideration on opening one up in Cleveland." Hanna then shuffles a pile of paper around "Any new news of interest?"

The Secretary of State made a statement "We've heard back from the Imperium of Man about our non-aggression treaty."

"What was their response?"

"They asked us 'for how long?'."

The room was filled with silence. Two seconds later, General Issac broke the silence "This is not surprising coming from a nation of imperialists who look down at nations they perceive as 'weak'."

"Even the Communist state in Africa and the Imperium are throwing insults at each other due to matters of 'faith'. I won't be surprised if the Imperium and the Canadian Republic bonk heads against each other for Newfoundland." The Secretary of State remarks as he reaches for a glass of water.

"Gentlemen" Hanna remarked "It was a gamble to offer them a non aggression pact with no time limit. Fortunately, the rest of the nations that we proposed to agreed with the pact. It's just that the Imperium of Man is open about bullying other nation's with it's jingoism and imperialism. So far, we've been managing our own domestic affairs for a couple of years now. Developing our industrial base as we expand westward. So far, we've been keeping a good job keeping our heads low. Especially after the strife with the Papal States." Hanna then grabbed her cup of tea, then sets it down on her table.

Orders locked people.

Whoops forgot to send orders. Well that sucks. Does my income bank at the very least?

The precedent thus far is income is spent on what I assume would be the best course for your plans (in your case, clienting will get attention since you seem to want some extra diplomatic pull, for example), but it can be banked if one insists.

Nah clienting seems fine and I trust you know what you're doing, but can I get in some last expansion in? At the very least could you have me expand in the USA?

I completely understand if you're against that, as setting a precedence where the deadline doesn't matter much wouldn't be a good thing.

I auto-expand players so as to avoid them falling hopelessly behind, at least the first few turns where land's abundant. :p

Thanks, that would explain me taking up those Caribbean islands on turn 1.

Malay Government

As the ruler of Malay is no longer able to fulfill his duties, a new leader has taken his place, and will oversee a continued, lasting peace with Ghirahim's Singapore. His inauguration speech was short and composed of the following:

Frank Furter

I'm just a sweeeeet transvestiiiiite, from Transitional, Governmennnnnt!

Ghirahim [Singapore]

In light of our new agreement with the Malay, we have decided to throw out the name Singapore. We shall henceforth be known as the Most Fabulous and Fashionable Republic of the Spice Islands, or Indonesia for short.

David Baker awaits Cascadia's response. The warhawks in the Conservative Party are getting tense.

Before threat consider the trade offer by the Manx. You have let to respond to it.

So... your nation has hawks? The Leviathan is the symbol of raw power in the Imperium, for it be the beast the Sovereign must take heed of to ensure the will of the land. Heed this and seek good willing from us, for our wroth is grand and unlike your hawks our war ready lords are not bounded by chains, let they are knowing of when to strike and bow to the wisdom of the Emperor who is not bounded by mercy wroth.

If yall don't calm down I will invade and force yall to convert to peace.

Fancy some guns? We are good at making guns. Do not invade us and we sell you guns for a few rocket artilliery.

..and fear not. We have no war plans... yet. We have no plans towards Canada unless they set themselves to war. Then we may be tempted to restore order.

Still... fancy a Imperial grade officer uniform? We can sell you officer uniforms if you fancy.
