Multipolarity III - Game Thread

Japan disapproves of Canadian and Manx behaviours, but we consider it not a matter of our concern, and thus we will not intervene.

On another note, Japan disapproves of Romnesia's techniques to avoid others from claiming a land that isn't even theirs. We wholeheartedly request that the blockade be lifted, in the name of international law since Romnesia has no jurisdiction outside of its national waters, which most obviously do NOT comprise even half of the blockaded coast.

We would like to ask Hyontou for a mutual reduction of tariffs. Manchuria is rich in metals rare and common alike, and we would very much appreciate it if we could arrive to a mutual agreement of free trade.

The blockaded coast extends further to Senegal and (Congo?) for a simple reason. Both nations will need land in the coming years, thus the land will be colonizable by land troops for both African nations.

Africa must stay African, after all.

We ask you politely to refrain from making Finland your client.

We have sent you a message regarding Finland.

The Fraternal Order applauds the efforts of Poland and his holiness over the German situation. We hope that this will serve as an example to all nations of the world that peaceful cooperation is the best way to resolve disputes.

Welcome to the game, RobertCan't.

If the economics seems like a headache, you can always ignore it in your orders; I will allocate as necessary.

I would give you more land but it's kind of... tight right now. :p

I'll take that as an invitation then...

I saw a little hole in the Balkans, it would be real shame if something were to suddenly spring up right there...

New Sarajevan Bosnia
...

Your going to suddenly move to India where Bengal is likely to implode soon, or to that space in Romnesian West Africa or I'm going to proceed with my already ordered settlement right where you decided to troll me and block off my only natural expansion route and ensure that Bosnia never sees the light of day.

pssst, can new players still join this?

Yes they may. New players will start with only the default claims, though. They will receive generous boosts in other areas to make up for the deficiency in resources. Land’s at a premium.

Of course, one could always take over an NPC I suppose.

I'll take that as an invitation then...

Welcome to the game, RC. If the economic micromanagement is too much, you can always ignore it in your orders; it’s automatic.

Also, Jehoshua is going to love this. :p

I do get to engage in some crusading, dragging all of Catholic Europe with me. Presuming of course he doesn't change his unwise decision and shift elsewhere.

The Imperium disproves of the Pope's plan to crusade a country without the country's religion be revealed first. For all we know Bosnia may be Catholic. The Pope should consider the virtue of colonies perhapes?

ooc: I'm the Pope, I get to define which nations Catholic, and which is a heretical cesspit to be cleansed from the face of the Earth for offenses against the Holy See. Regardless the pertinent fact is Sarajevo is populated by the mad, who got that way presumably due to the many infernal cults within the city. Either way they are clearly not Catholic.

That said they may yet be spared my wrath if they decide to relocate elsewhere. I tolerate the presence of trollish nations only when it doesn't block off my only natural expansion route, which Bosnia has considering the rapidly dwindling availability of land that can be colonised elsewhere, and the fact all my efforts have been on European regionalism rather than broad colonialism. So obviously I will deal with them whatever they decide, but if they decide not to move their obliteration is a foregone conclusion.

I am the Emperor of Mann, set on this world by God via Divine Right and currently owner of the world's strongest fleets. I heed to the Peace of Westphalia and would warn the Pope that I could support a ant-Pope to challange your position. Let us judge the faith of Sarajevo. It has proven to maintain order. I wish to remain freinds with you, so please... respect our new customer. We wish to trade with Bosnia. If problem erupts I can order the fire bombing of Bosnia in your name. Howevert it is wise to let the accused speak... unless you want myters that would inspire problems for your nation. Myters are one of the reasons we use labour camps instead of executing all political opposition.

ooc: unfortunately for Robert Can't the trollish nature of his choice makes me inclined to purge it even if he does plead he's Catholic (which Sarajevo ain't by the description given at any rate) due to the territorial dispute. I'm a flexible person, tani should know that well enough with the whole Victorian thing, but considering the nature of Robert Can't arrival, Im not inclined to consider the option of his continued existence in his current location, I don't really care if you want to trade with him or not, considering you can trade with him if he moves just as much. Although I know you would care if my implicit support for your continued existence was not forthcoming in the case of a foreign attack on your nation.

ooc: who'ss Hyontou? Kinich?

OOC: one she was looking for space near the sea and alas she wants to play as Bosnia.

Two: Bosnia is not a part of Italy, meaning not natural part of thy SOI.

Three: RobertCan't is not the type of figure who trolls.

Four: keep in mind that playing aggressor as the Pope leads to question on whether Pius XXV is fit to be Pope. Nations could decide to commence their anti-popes. Overall it will be a Game of Thrones: you win or die.

OOC: point one is irrelevant, since the pertinent matter is I don't want Robert Can't trolling me with a pseudo Bosnia, and so if he wants a bosian settlement doesn't matter, since its the fact Im claiming there, and don't intend to forfeit my natural expansion to a johnny come lately that matters.

point two: Is as false as it is utterly irrelevant

point three: I say he is, and its my opinion that matters at the moment, and either way robertcan'ts actual intent behind his settlement does not matter, as compared to my view on it, which as you know is not favourable, and the likely response to come if he refrains from a civilised act of migration to a more geographically open region which also is nowhere near me.

four: Your opinion on matters religious is as irrelevant in my assesment of the situation as Solitudes method of governance.

---

Anyways I've PM'd the other relevant individual on his settlement plans, and hopefully he will accede to moving. If civility is not in Robert Can't vocabulary and he remains obstinate in his curent location, than the alternative actions I have rather irately mentioned on this thread will likely come to pass to ensure that the point that trolling me has consequences is not lost for future games. Flexibility is one of my hallmarks, a sudden crusading zeal on the part of the Holy Father would be one part of that.

Hyontou is Krzowwh.

While I would encourage Robert Can't to move elsewhere to avoid a difficult playthrough, I nonetheless issue he is fine to start there if he doesn't mind the extra challenge of a major power breathing down his neck.

OOC: 1: RobertCan't might want to make a Bosnian power.

2: how exactly?

3: the community opion must be assessed, for the main opion that will matter is the opinion of the GM.

4: you do wish me to be your ally right? Dismissing my notice of the... political issues around the Papalcy (Avignon be note here) is not a way of maintaining allies. I was just suggesting that the Pope may find it best to position thyself as "above the moral means of politics." As for your dismissing of me just like that: you need to learn some social skills, such as not taking up "I am right and your all wrong" stances of pride, which is before the fall as they say.

Spoiler Battle of Kanto :

Spoiler Surrender of the Date :

And of course the written part:
Spoiler Blah, blah, blah :
The year began as the previous had ended, with the fortification of the First Marine Division and the Mountain Infantry Division, and the installation of the First Artillery Brigade in strategic chokepoints of the province of Fukushima. As expected, the Date tried to regain contact with their headquarters in Iwate province, and sent all of its forces against Fukushima. For more security, the coast of Hitachi was blockaded to achieve total isolation of the enemy force, after which the Grand Armoured Corps was sent to strike the back of the enemy formation and capture several important cities.
Unfortunately, the task of the Grand Armoured Corps was greatly slowed down by several attacks by the Mogami clan, a weak force that had nevertheless managed to recruit several hundred thousand men from all over Japan and sympathetic to the rebel daimyos. Thus, an entire Infantry Corps was launched against Tokyo and the Kanto plain, and another one against Nagoya and Owari Province, so to capture the Second Mechanised Infantry Division, which was tasked with keeping safe the supply lines at the back of the GAC. Another Mogami Infantry Division was sent against Kaga Province. Most possibly the Mogami had gathered intel revealing that the Tokyo area would be nearly undefended, and hoped to be able to strike deep into Japanese land while troops were fighting the Date.

Mogami intelligence proved poor though, since the Corps attacking Nagoya came face to face with the feared Imperial Corps, a combined arms formation made of Unification War veterans and state-of-the-art technology and equipment. The attack to Kaga also happened under the watch of the First Mechanised Infantry Division, stationed in Hogo to secure the naval deployment of the marines in Sapporo. This one formation is commanded by Ito Kagurashi, who has been awarded the Imperial Chrysanthemum for his bravery in battle and capable command. He sent some of his best troops to advance the enemy and set up a basic defence, while the rest of the division would set up behind and around the Mogami division. Surrender was immediate when the first shots were heard coming from everywhere.
All in all, the Mogami forces had been too slow and too poorly-trained: the Second Mechanised Infantry Division reached Tokyo first and was able to call for reinforcements from the GAC which helped crush the enemy, and the attack on the best combat formation of the world proved disastrous as the first lines fell under mobile artillery fire and lines were broken with armoured forces. However, the fleeing Mogami forces managed to regroup with reserves and formed a true army in Uden that would put up actual resistance when Imperial units reached the limits of the province.

The Date, however, were much easier a prey. Their forces having been depleted in the campaign of the previous year, their undersupplied troops could not hold the ground on Kanto, and soon they saw their presence on the plain reduced to a brigade, and their auxiliary Corps in Miyagi falling to attrition and undersupply as a pincer move was executed by the First Marine Infantry Division. Their trade and supply routes with the mainland cut, they promptly surrendered.

EDIT: For the record, those military icons in Hokkaido mean naval supply unit. They represent the transportation of supplies from Karafuto to Hokkaido and from Hokkaido to Honshu, and the arrows are the land supply routes. The purple one means there is nothing going along that route.

On the Ides of March (Or so says the Sarajevan calander) a group of papal ambassadors stood outside the great fog of Sarajevo. They gave young peasant Nemid Vidic a letter to give to Sarajevan authorities, on the letter was printed demands for the Sarajevan leader to move to Africa of India. Nemid went into the fog.

One week later he reappeared gabbling about some sort of fishing trip and how the moon was mocking him. The Papal Ambassadors looked on him with disgust. He spoke nothing of value to them yet in his hand he carried an envelope of a soft light blue paper. Upon opening the envelope there was revealed a message on paper similar to that of the envelope in purple cursive script. It was signed GG.

To the vast conclave of the slightly less almighty.
Have you ever eaten a Sarajevan fish pie?
Because if not I'd advise you try one.
We don't like near the coast but we have a river.
You say that Africa is nice but you obviously don't know your geography...
Sarajevo isn't in Africa silly...
And unless you're prepared to move it.
Which you aren't
Then you should just accept
That God wills us to exist and so we do.
I hope you like fish pie...
Because fish don't just swim away at the first sign of a net
Some fish like to thrash about
Some fish get the other fish to thrash about
Soon enough all the fish turn your boat over
Then you can swim with the fish
Swim with us together
We are the fish
This is the sea
I pictured the sea
You only saw the one fish.

OOC: I'm sure all other players will agree that I'm not the type who trolls. I'm sure many of them also recognise Gavrilovich - One of the most influential figures of the warped timeline that represents all IOTs. I'm sure they will also know that Robert Can't always gets Bosnia... Always. By denying me that right - you're the one trolling :)
Moving was never an option for me if that means that I incur your wrath then so be it...

Nemid is not of Bosnia.

What makes you think I'm not trolling :p

Anyway its a written Papal account Nemid is actually a Nedim. But it was lost in translation.

OOC: point being other players opinions on your nature are irrelevant. We can discuss the matter of your movement further, while I write my war plans for the situation that you continue to be obstinate.
