To tide you over until I resume work on the update tomorrow (I’ve done little over half the player orders).
==Looming Cold War in the Pacific==
As Asia descends into the anarchy and chaos of war with the 501st and Leth considering their options given their relationships to Iron China and Hindustan, another flashpoint is making itself known further east. The state of Hawai’i has long been considered by China-Japan to be within its sphere of influence, and up until recently this was true. However, a massive influx of foreign money has been seen in the past few months, with the amount of foreign property more than doubling. While the Japanese own 42% of all foreign property in the country, the Leth stand at 40%, with Antioch at 9% and the Confederacy at 5%. With the Leth and Japan both having a vested interest in maintaining a grip in the centrally-located Hawai’ian islands, the world watches anxiously to see which power will win out in the struggle for the archipelago.
Even further east, Cascadia has remained neutral in the disputes between the Leth and China-Japan, which grow especially heated over topics of race and species as much as money and politics. China-Japan recently increased its share in Cascadia’s industries by a fair amount, but this was overshadowed by the Leth’s own, with the Leth now owning 43% of the country’s foreign property to China-Japan’s 31%. With all other investors owning the rest of the country equally, it is clear the bid for dominance in Cascadia’s economy will be between the two powers.
While China-Japan fields a large naval force, the Leth enjoy great economic power and have clout in the Union of Nations, leading many to wonder how the struggle over Hawai’i (valuable to Japan for its naval position and to the Leth for their democratic stature as well as nearby location) and Cascadia (on the border of both powers and currently amicable to both) will end.
