Multipolarity IV Game Thread

Orders locked.

As a hard lock, no exceptions, unlike usual.

To be fair, that's more because Tyo's only ally abandoned him and he was fighting against three powers.

But I digress... :p

Orders shall lock in half an hour.

Tyo's ally never had anything to do with the war against New America. Iceland never had anything to do with the war in New America except for a token force that aided in the recapture of Quebec. The CSA captured 2 scorched provinces that were hardly defended on the last turn of the war.

No, I am afraid New America won that war by itself. That is not to say Iceland and the CSA did nothing, but in that theatre, the only theatre that really mattered when it came down to whether our nations would survive or not, we did the work and that work will not be marginalized by anyone, even the GM.

/End talking from the viewpoint of a dead country :p

So I watched the Summer of Sonic stream on Twitch yesterday. It made me jolly.

Famagusta, 2222 AD

the King has decided to take personal command of the Cypriot naval forces, from an old Roman Aircraft carrier (built in 2216, then mothballed in Cyprus.) that we restored to Service. the ships name is the [REDACTED]

it is hoped that with his presence in the battlefield, it would boost morale of the ships, giving it a better combat ability. if it sinks... well, a new King will be elected.

the [redacted] isn't a super carrier, but it is a fairly respectable ship in its own right. once Bosnia is crushed, it will most likely be mothballed, or sold. we cant afford to keep it active all the time.

Is its name seriously the [redacted]? Because that would be awesome.

...After the trouble of redacting it.

Meh. what harm could it do? its a light Aircraft carrier, and we have other light AC's in service. so the chance of Bosnia sinking that ship is rare.

Well then what was the point in redacting it in the first place?

Who cares either way? It's not a big deal.

French War

The British deploy 25,000 soldiers to Burgundy to crush the Strasbourg Uprising. With the support of 75,000 Imperial troops they strike Strasbourg. Strasbourg musters 32,000 peasants.

The British-led force crushes the rebels; Britain seizes 20,000 of the rebels for its prisoner of war camps back in the Isles. 200,000 of Strasbourg’s 1,300,000 people perish, and the province is reintegrated into the growing French Empire. 1,000 Imperials die in the process.

Further south, 486,000 Imperials clash with 316,000 Republicans. With British naval vessels hammering the coastline, the rebels have no real chance of victory, but hope for a last stand.

The Imperials kill 250,000 enemy troops while losing 25,000 of their own. The poorly-equipped Republican Army is finally, fully destroyed, and all of France finds itself united beneath the Emperor’s military. The Republican government finds most of its members either imprisoned or executed; a handful of traitors find themselves in the Emperor’s good graces as advisors, however. 300,000 civilians perish in the occupation.

As several French provinces are declared “pacified” and granted the same rights as those already under firm Imperial rule (that is, few), a royal marriage is declared between the King of Britain’s grandson and the French Emperor’s daughter; House Windsor and House Lorraine (the French Emperor has married into a prominent heir of the former Habsburg dynasty) have been joined in union.

Pockets of resistance remain widespread, but the French Empire is poised for status as one of the world’s leading middle powers…

Cypriot Affair

522,000 Antiochan and 363,000 Cypriot ships engage 596,000 Bosnian.

300,000 Bosnians are slain in the battles of the Mediterranean Sea. 60,000 Antiochans and 40,000 Cypriots also perish. While Bosnia’s western ports remain untouched, Italy’s economy all but shuts down once its ports are completely locked up.

Turnout is low this year. Red Destiny receives no votes, while Cyprus is eliminated in the first round and sees its votes struck given that it had no other options.

377.882 of 1,058.702 electoral votes cast.
188.942 needed to win.

Round One:

Germany – 190.665
501st – 89.784
CSI – 13.972
New England – 83.461

For the first time in the Union’s history, a candidate has won the election in the first round; Germany’s Gerhard von Blucher has become Secretary-Elect in a landslide.

Analysts pick the landslide apart on numerous talkshows. One analyst in particular states, “Elections are the same in one regard no matter how large or small the constituency affected: smaller turnouts produce less radical results.”

Ailed and Sone, you will receive your incomes shortly.

There is a “vault” column for those of you who qualified for the bonus last turn.

Alright, that’s it (for my GMing duties) for now; I’ll be leaving on the 8th and won’t be back until the 12th. I’ll lock orders on the 13th.

Note: If you use the spreadsheet please include spent influence points with the money value, and list all troops together as one number (not x sailors; y soldiers, please). It makes things easier to process!

Economic News

Spoiler :
For the first time in ages, minor countries collectively control more of the world’s economy than the major powers do. The 15 trillion dollar economy of the Confederate States of America leads the pack with 5% of the world’s GDP, regardless. The Arstotzkans, their closest competitors, lag behind by no less than 2 trillion. Called “the world’s economic laboratory,” the low tax, low regulation environment tends to spur large amounts of innovation that regularly diffuse outward into the world; much of the world’s economic prosperity is due to the Confederacy.

Analysts report population numbers to be increasing in importance; it seems consumer goods are becoming more popular than ever before, and a large population is sure to sustain a growing demand base for such, and thus, economic activity.

North America

Spoiler :
Operation: Columbia. The Syndicates have rounded up numerous subversives.

Discontent. Using the counterintelligence campaign as a vehicle for frustration with the government, many Syndicalists have begun to protest, calling for the government to pull back from its vast overseas expenditures and focus more on the poor quality of life so many Syndicalists have as a result of so much constant war. “Blood and treasure is better buried in Syndicalist soil than others’.”

South America

Spoiler :
Chirp, chirp, chirp.

Europe

Spoiler :
Attempted Killings. A large band of thugs across the UK has attempted to assassinate police officers and intelligence personnel; their attack was a massive flop.

Failed Uprising. An anti-Imperial uprising in the South of France has failed, despite support from some 5,000 Goon infantry; it is apparent the French Emperor’s desire of a strong, united France is becoming more popular.

Make War No More! The Bosnian people have spoken, and they demand a peace accord to end the growing economic collapse that Bosnia is facing. It is clear the decision to fight Cyprus was not wise, and a treaty with moderate concessions would be accepted by the citizens so as to begin rebuilding trade networks.

The Purge. Britain has rounded up a massive amount of subversives within the Isles. The British Constitution of 2023 being a pesky thing with its establishment of a constitutionally-protected court system and a set of rights no Act of Parliament can overturn, many of those convicted have been sent overseas to the French Empire for questioning. The current topic of politics is whether to scapegoat the Goon Squad, Spartacus, or the Dutch as the root of the dissidents.

Financial Crisis. Bosnia has been hit with a massive crisis in light of contracting credit lines due to the war. (-2% Infra, -1% Infra for everyone else)

Operation: Guillotine. The MI6 has led French Imperial operatives in a sweep of their territory, arresting massive numbers of Goon operatives. The Goons have been accused of the uprising in Strasbourg; several of the more prominent convicts were hung, drawn and quartered, naturally. The MI6 led a similar campaign in the Rhineland, weeding out yet more Goon presences.

Africa

Spoiler :
Chirp, chirp, chirp.

Asia

Spoiler :
Operation: Monkey. The Horde has seized numerous treasonous elements. Evidence points to at least some of them being from the 501st, in operation since the days of the Hindustani War. Goons were also taken in Siberia.

Discontent with the State. More Legionaires, seeing the hit to their market and the great range of countries now juggled on the agenda, are requesting a pullback to focus on the quality of life in the 501st. The influx of migrants, combined with the new burden of so many client states, is leading many to question the state’s authority. Some are so bold as to say perhaps it isn’t so bad the vile Horde has a client or two if it means Legionaires get better services.

Fraud. Some unscrupulous bankers and investors from Antioch have been arrested in Oman on charges of pump and dumping. (-50 Influence)

Azeri Ascension. The Azeri stock market has seen a great jump upward in light of good economic news from various leading businesses. (+20 Infra)

End the War! With the latest line of victories, Antioch’s citizens are giving the state one last chance to sign a peace accord, or at least attempt one. Protests are liable to turn more assertive or even violent if the conflict does not cease soon.

The Plague. A disastrous plague has spread throughout East Asia. Originating in the 501st Legion, its effects on the Horde and Spartacus were somewhat alleviated due to their being embargoed by the Legion. 27,740,000 people have perished as a result of the disease, the great amount of trade meaning no one was left fully untouched.

Violence in Afghanistan. (-150 Azeri influence in Afghanistan)

Desire for Reforms. Protests have begun against the regime in Korea. Korea has already undergone serious economic liberalization, and this is a natural result; the regime has compromised by allowing competitive local elections. It has also abolished labor camps and given compensation to those once prisoner within.

Oceania

Spoiler :
Operation: Jaeger. Spartacus has seized operatives within its territory, though their origin is unknown.

Operation: Pacific Shield. Brunei’s security forces have been led by the MI6 to round up subversives.

Operation: Thunderbox. The 501st has overseen a massive counterintelligence campaign within its home territory as well as abroad in the three Australian states. Goon operatives were among those taken.

Recommendations:

-Espionage is a good tool to rein in NGOs. NGOs derive their income from their percentage of a host country’s total espionage value, similar to how countries earn client income. A good way to bury them is to invest in espionage in a country; even if you don’t root them out through counterintel you can still hurt them greatly in this manner.
-There’s a “profitability” measure on the Influence sheet. The higher the number, the more cost-effective it is to invest in that country. You will notice the most active investors are also the richest nations…
-Investing in countries with a high exchange rate can be lucrative: they invest their money in their infrastructure and thus can experience massive growth.
-Participate in the UN. Even abstention votes will still generate some influence points; proposing resolutions and succeeding in getting them passed net the most points.
-It is a good idea to sign Exclusive Investment Agreements with your clients to keep competition out – to get past an EIT a person must invest 100% of the highest investment in the country.
-Invest espionage in countries you have influence in; this will help keep you safe from predatory attempts to purge your influence.

The CSA officially announces that while it cannot stop sending monetary aid to foreign countries, we will listen to our people. No less than half of the our assets will be used to fund better healthcare, education, and infrastructure.

To the Philippines and Sumatra

We wonder if its possible for our new friends to begin a series of reforms so to make your countries more free and equal? The nation serves its people, after all.

The 501st Legion is hereby guaranteeing the independence of Ceylon, Singapore, Manchuria, Beringia, Korea, Japan, & Tasmania.

We are offering Defensive Pacts & Economic Alliances to Manchuria, Korea, Ceylon, & Tasmania.

Finally, we would like to offer Exclusive Investment Agreements to Ceylon & Tasmania.

Still no protests in Cyprus, eh? damn, the people are cool. um... anyway, the King has ordered Military analysts to see if they could maintain a blockade on their own, considering the ominous protests in Antioch.

EDIT: Military analysts has concluded that with only 356,000 sailors and more than one million Bosnian sailors (at 5%, even!), it would be nearly impossible to maintain a blockade, regardless of the superior quality of the Cypriot Navy. Nuclear weapons still aren't allowed, even though they might help.

with those numbers, and the protests in antioch just about turning Violent, King Andreas II tornikes has called for Peace with Bosnia. not a seperate peace, Antioch will be represented.

lets put this affair behind us, and we will forget that Bosnia ever did anything. take this chance, as you will *NOT* get another.

We would like to offer defensive pacts and economic alliances to the Great Plains, Brazil, Caracas, Guyana, and Venezuela, as well as investment treaties to those who would accept it.

Siberia would like to offer Komi, Ryazan, Japan, Kirov, and Vladiovostok pacts for friendship These pacts of friendship would include a DP in order to protect each other, as well as an economic alliance and EIT in return for 4% of our income biannually.

We would also like to inform the 501st that we will have to regrettably seal off all lines of travel between our two nations because of your plague. The same goes for all 501st clients, and all 501st citizens that are not already in Siberia shall be denied entrance unless they volunteer to be part of a medical effort to create a cure for this plague. An embargo will naturally be put in place alongside this since the less contact between us the better. Once the plague has passed we will be happy to rescind these regrettable but necessary actions.

The Golden Master is disappointed that the 501st Legion insists upon closed borders with the Golden Horde, for insodoing the Legion has denied the gift of death to many and delayed their moment of the possible. Either way the Golden Master can only hope that many amongst the legionaires were enlightened, and achieved their vastening as a result of the plague.

End the War! With the latest line of victories, Antioch’s citizens are giving the state one last chance to sign a peace accord, or at least attempt one. Protests are liable to turn more assertive or even violent if the conflict does not cease soon.

What the hell, Tany? I have made every attempt at a peace attempt, it's just Robert has essentially trollquit the game.
