My notes are a horrible mess.

1TB, Aimee? What kind of a system do you have that needs 500 GB on its own?

The system doesnt need 500 GB, but the data partition is getting squeezed and this is with most of my stuff on the external drive:

I can keep taking space from the System partition but eventually Id have no room left on it. And currently the 1TB is cheaper per gigabyte than another 500 GB.

By the way Im proud to say I have no porn on my system. :smug:

If you have a ton of files, you should think about putting them in a database of some sort. Is there a database app for open office?

Yes there is. Openoffice.org Base.

I usually use microsoft word, but I can handle it because I type really fast and do it enough to keep up with the lectures. I clean up the notes later on. The process of writing notes makes me remember more than actually looking at them, however.

^ That was what I did in college. Except for the Microsoft Word part - back then we took notes by hand, on paper, with pens and pencils.

It was... a simpler time. :old:

I have horrible handwriting (probably as half as bad as aimee's in normal situations unless I go extremely slow) and can't even remotely write as fast as I can type, so that's a no go for written notes.

Yeah, same here. I write like I'm lettering a comic book, which is cool, but not exactly fast; I type a hell of a lot faster. And granted, laptops were invented back then, but 10 years ago they were nowhere near ubiquitous like they are now. The laptop I had in college was laughable by today's standards (though it was already old when I got it, given that it was a free hand-me-down from my dad's law firm).

I have an old typewriter somewhere around the house (that you don't have to plug into an outlet) but its very heavy and the backspace doesnt work.

I tend to take notes pen&paper style. When I do type up my notes, I just use a word doc and do bullet points.

Unless you can't read it later.

For what it matters, I can read the example I posted, but only because I know the contents by heart.

Well that and the fact that its also incredibly painful for me. My hands sort of easily stiffen up when holded in that position for more than a minute or two.

Right now Im trying to clean up my notes and transfer them. Its terribly painful to read them though.
