My take on stuff

Looks good. Pity I wont be able to play with it. It has too many techs vertically, I would have to scroll down and up all the time to see all of one page :(

I had a feeling that that might be the case, darn. Oh well, I don't support old hardware I guess. To me it looked ridiculous that there was a large unused space at the bottom of the tech tree.

You should get yourself a new monitor, it's about time to go wide-screen.

There is a large unused space at the bottom of the tech screen due to me using the original screen size for civ on a widescreen monitor. I think and have to confirm that Platyinng's code uses the actual screen resolution for the Tech Screen rather than the game resolution. Most screens use the game resolution. That means that to get it to work on my screen I had to use a min rather than his max in a function - so it works for me but gives you a large space at the bottom. When I figure out that this is the problem and how to fix it you wont get a large space at the bottom of the screen.

I have a wide screen, I just like playing Civ at the original size. Maybe if I had 3 monitors I wouldn't mind playing at full resolution.

No way, i play at 1024X768, and WONT change, :old: otherwise i cant see the "fine print" lol

The tech tree will change quite radically in the next version:

Maybe put some of these ideas in a NEW thread in the main area, maybe people "might" respond to them, and again maybe not??:crazyeye:

What i am saying in the above post is, AGAIN "maybe" if people like Ur changes, it "might" go into the core, but NOT at the names U have them, because i dont know the rest of the modders, but i wont change the names "again." to much of a headache . . No offense.

No, those techs represents very specific paleolithic tools, called scrapers and choppers. They are not the invention of an action as many of the other techs are.

Then I would suggest pluralising them instead, i.e. "Choppers" and "Scrapers", in line with the other "item" techs.

thanks
Cooperation and Arrangment strike me as being pretty much the same thing but I do get the intent difference... slightly.
Bothers me too.

Then you need a bigger screen; I'm guessing you have a 17" one, I find 24" good for 1920x1080, but you might need a 28" screen.

Perhaps we should consider implementing a mouse pointer magnifying glass feature with a hotkey for C2C. ^^

I think that would go way beyond what's possible to do with a mod. In fact, I think that might go beyond what's possible to do with an entire game and might require a new graphics driver.

New pair of reading glasses you stubborn :old:! ;)

Or hook up that 50" LED TV!:p:mischief:

Thankfully I can still use my 23" at the same resolution as Toffer with just a 1.75 pair of reading glasses. :whew:

JosEPh :)

And now you are getting a better idea of what it's like playing a computer game with 3 or 4 grandpas Toffer!:mischief: Much less being part of a Team of Modders/Players that are :old:!:lol:

Who says Civ IV BtS is not a cross generation game platform?! Sid is probably very proud over this fact. :D

The last tech-tree preview was a little premature.
This one should be a lot closer to what will be in the next update.

Why are they green, rather than the dark red previously used for the Ancient Era?

My opinion: cooperation is a bit too early. There must be something to do before you can cooperate on doing it. So at least I'd swap gathering with cooperation.
While you can gather on your own, hunting benefits from cooperation so I'd use cooperation instead of gathering as a secondary requirement.

Deception also feels way too early in the tech tree. Deception is a trick to make some other activity more efficient. Yet the other activities come after that. Feels like wrong order.

Language would be the logical next step after cooperation. But that would perhaps mess up the nice lines.

A good point, though the chicken and egg question is relevant to this one. To me gathering represents people gathering stuff for the entire group, your suggestion might be used though.
Also: dance before music!?
Animals dance without music (mating and rivalry), and I don't count certain sounds (clicking, grunting, humming) that may accompany the dance as proper music.
