Will try to have a bit of an early start after midnight tonight. Everything is outlined, satisfying my inner plotter. This better be a damn good one this year, I got too much excitement.

I have over 9,700 words but I can already feel the spontaneity and excitement dying out as I gradually work towards hitting a wall somewhere around 15k.

2350. I wrote 850 on day one that was pure poop, so I erased it and did the scene against this morning. I won't be going much higher today. I have a month to catch up, and 1k behind isn't so bad. I don't do much writing beyond 2k these days, since I run out of quality juice about there, and can't bring myself to write trash.

Still at 0 as I've been doing other stuff since November came about. Hoping to have some real time to work on it tomorrow.

Someone I know did 40,000 words the first day. Granted, the entirety of their novel was outlined bit by bit, but that's still quite impressive.

Busy with exams, so I have written a few token hundred words. We'll see what it comes to. I have an idea and I know where I want to drive things, but I must admit a thorough outline would help immensely.

Got 5100 on my first day, partly because I started writing shortly after midnight.

I hope to get to 8000 today, but even if I go past ~7000-7500 that'd be good. So far today I have 6100 so we'll see.

I can also vouch for the usefulness of an outline.


Also, did anyone besides Synsensa and Luckymoose add me as a writing buddy on the NaNoWriMo forums? I got a few from some people I don't know and was wondering if it was anyone here.

Got ~5000 again yesterday, so I'm already at 10k, thus far surpassing my estimate of ~7000-8000. I am really loving this story and pumping out those words. And I did it even though I procrastinated and kept getting distracted too, somehow.

Probably not, but maybe I'll end up winning NaNoWriMo by the end of this weekend at this rate. .___.

I've done a little over a thousand today, would like to do some more. I'm sitting at over 10k, but it's a mess. A big one. I've got about 4,000 words at the beginning, and then the remaining 6.5k words are various scenes and snippets of dialogue in non-sequential order that popped into my head and I had to get down. And then I also have the ending. Fitting all of this togethere is going to be a wreck.

I'm still taking my time, editing yesterday's work before working on today's. I'm too deep in a novel to just puke out a nano draft, since what I write now is the second third of this book, and I have to get it close to right on the first pass or I'll be deep in dookie on revisions.

Oh, now I recognize you on the NaNoWriMo forums... there's been a bunch of random people adding me as writing buddies and I have no idea who they are.

And no, she's 1) underage (unless if you're underage too); 2) already hooked up with someone. In fact in the first scene she's having a steamy makeout session with her bf that's rudely interrupted by her father, the Asian dude. So. There. She is supposed to be a cute enough blonde, but she's not in the top 3 or 5 most attractive characters in the story.

DANG yeah underage is no bueno. Who are the most attractive then?

Let's list off characters by attractiveness.

1. Female MC's best female friend. Classical Chinese beauty. Let's say a 9 at least. This is actually an important plot point because the female MC compares herself to her friend a lot.
2. Asian dude, i.e. male MC, i.e. female MC's sort-of-adoptive dad. He is a hot dad, yes. We'll put him somewhere around a 7.5-8.5. Maybe a +0.2-0.5 if he ever smiles.
3. Female MC's cheerleader friend. She's one of the nicest characters though. Let's go with 8.
4. Gonna go with Female MC's biological mom. Let's say 7.5-8.
5. Female MC's bf. He has a vague resemblance to her father for some reason. We'll go with 7.5. Maybe when he's a bit older or is less of a slob he'll get bumped up a bit.
6. Probably female MC's male friend who despite not being super attractive does get laid alot and is a chick magnet so that has to count for something. 5.5-6 on looks alone, 10+ with chick magnet skills.
7. Male MC's love interest. Let's say 6.5-7.5.
8. Then I guess maybe female MC would be here then. Around 6.5-7.5. She's basically a frumpier version of her biological mom.

Wow that was very scientific.

There's more characters afte rthe female MC of course but I'll just end there.

15.5k as the third day ends. I am doing extremely well for myself, I must say. I am also now going into the middle part of my novel more or less.

Asian hot guys? I'm in.

Oh yes, my friend! I am Asian, and I have plenty of hot Asian girls and guys in my stories. I would presume that you are very interested in the latter?

But anyways yeah the male MC for this year's novel is a more attractive than I usually have mine (who I'll say tend to float around 5.5-8), mainly for reasons of irony as he's a virgin (well, at least at the start of the story). So he's a virginal hot dad. Yes, I am serious.
