Native America Mod

Can't wait to play this mod! I was wondering what kind of maps will be available with it? Seems to me that a world map would be awfully crowded. Is there a good map of North and South America floating around somewhere that could be used?

I have an original biq file with the map on it, but cannot seem to integrate this into my updated biq file. I'm sorry but I started playing and modifying this as a random map scenario and didn't realise this would delete the map.

There is a solution however. When Sword of Geddon sends us his update, I can manually copy all the biq info from that file onto the original file with the map and update it retaining the world map. I'll do it as soon as I have SOG's update. How soon will that be?

Progress Report:

Ok, I've got good news and bad news:

Good News:

Note: In the update, Native Ship has been renamed Pahrump.

Many new non-UUs have been added:

Boomstickman(upgrades from Wouri Guardsman)
Native Grenadier(Upgrades from Boomstickman)
Native Shooter(Upgrades from Native Grenadier)
Priest(Upgrades from Shaman)
Tomahawk(Upgrades from Seasoned Brave)
Double Canoe(Upgrades from Canoe, Pahrumps now are the first warship)
Dream Catcher(Upgrades from Double Canoe)
Numenor(Ship unit that upgrades from Pahrumps)

I've also added several new technologies:

1. (Kingdom Era)Chemistry(Its back!)Allows Boomstickmen)

European Influance:

2. European Tactics(Allows workers to conscruct forts)
3. Military Tradition(Another tech from original game, allows Native Grenadiers)
4. Naval Engagements(Allows Dream Catcher and Numenor ships to be built)

Bad News:

1.For some strange reason, now the game only allows you to choose up to 7 opponents
2. I can't figure out how to add those arrows that show what tech leads to which.

HELPPPP!

Your problems with the arrows - it's a cut and paste jobbie - I'll sort it out.

Number of players - from the editor, click "Scenario," select "Scenario properties" and the number of players can be chosen on that screen.

Let me go before Moblilize so I can import the world map, do some refining and then Mobilize can place the Starting Locations.

As for UUs. Wouri Guardsmen was an Anasazi UU. None other. You guys must have misunderstood that nobody else had Wouri Guardsmen. Same with other UUs.

But, I can fix that problem with the amount of players. :) Just hurry up Sword_of_Geddon. ;)

Thanks guys. I'll fix the number problem, and make the Wouki Guard an Anazazi UU.

Progress Report:

1. A new Native American archer unit will appear in the mod from now on, rather than the old boring Civ3 unit.
2.New Iroquios Unique Unit, Marksman, is now in the mod!
3.Added one more new tech to the "Kingdom Era" techtree, Diplomacy, which allows more diplomatic options.

RF, you forgot the last one, so I've fixed it. No problem :)

Seems you've learned the CivEditor quite fast Sword_of_Geddon? :)

Just upload the units, new texts and the .biq and what other files that are new. :) Then I'll import the World Map, fix the .biq then Mobilize get's his turn to place starting locations. Then he uploads the .biq
I speak with Thunderfall to upload the final version and Walla!
Then we all can edit our posts with screenshots. :D

@Sword_of_Geddon, have you planned on what to say to Thunderfall on having our mod advertised on the front page? :) Make sure we get the image spot.

R8XFT, you forgot the last one, so I've fixed it. No problem :)

I forgot what last one?

I think he means you forgot the Dipomacy tech?

Why did you blend and mix all the UUs anyways R8XFT?

Incans: Inti Warrior, Inti Champion, Xopilli

Please : Xopilli is a Nahuatl=Aztec word, not Incan. It's like having the Iroquiois Jaguar Warriors...

IIRC, Akicita is a Sioux word for warrior, definitely a better suggestion than "Savage".

I would make the Tomahawk an Iroquois UU, since it was only them and a few others in their region who used it.

Wow, this is one cool mod! I've been trying it out and let me say it looks great. My one question pertains to tech min and max turns. With the minimum time set at 30, my treasury is growing at an alarming rate. I realize that due to the length of the game in turns (540) that we would run out of techs, but is there a way then to minimize the amount of gold the civ would earn? I'm playing as the Powhatan, and after 94 turns I have 500 gold already!

Good work again, and keep it up!

Did you find that the added treasury allowed for the faster production of cities later in the game? (Since you could buy anything with the increased treasury)

Uhm... Did I miss a file in the zip, or is there no install or readme text for installation of the mod pack? Conquests folder or Scenarios folder, where to put the .biq file? Etc.

Save us n00b's a little time and wasted effort with a simple intro install instruction on the first post please.

Cheers.

P.S. The map. Is it random like it shows when I load up the scenario or am I doing something wrong. I thought since it was a native American mod that it would have north and south America as a map...

On the Savage: I was following Mobilize's suggestions for the Sioux Savage unit name actually.

But I like that other name better I'll admit, maybe I'll change it?

On the Xopelli: I needed a Meso/South American term for "Noble Spearman", so I settled on Xopelli as a name for the third Incan Unique Unit.

If you have a better name for the Xopelli, let me know, and I'll change it.

Progress Report:

Other than some last minute name changes, theres only one more unit I intend on adding at the moment.

All the following units have completed civilipedia entrys and civilipedia icons(Which is every unit in the mod). It took me awile to write them all in, but I was in the end a rewarding expierence. In addition to normal info on the unit, each unit has a bit of additional data(fictional or historical) to breathe life into them.

Complete List of Units

Also, I've added quite a few new technologies to help spice things up in the Kingdom Era and European Influance times:

New Kingdom Era Techs:

1. Chemistry(Allows Boomstickman)
2. Diplomacy(Allows more diplomatic options)

New European Influance Techs:

1. European Tactics(Allows workers to construct forts)
2. Naval Engagement(Allows Numinor and Dream Catcher ships)
3. Military Tradition(Allows Native Grenadiers)

There was one other tribe that I wanted to add unique units for, the Navaho, but for some reason it won't even appear on the list?
Also, my computer has so far refused to allow me to put the number of opponets back up to 17!

Well, anyhow, I'm sure whoever is after me will figure it out, and pick good Unique Units for whoever. I could even post example Civilapedia entries for them on this thread if you don't feel like doing them yourself!

Looks nice :)
But, shouldn't you cease using the word 'Shooter' and use 'Archer'? And BTW, what is a Boomstickman?

1.Shooters actually refer to gunpowder units(Shooter means gunmen)

2. When native americans first encountered and got their hands on guns, they refered to them as "Boom Sticks". Hence the unit name, Boomstickman!(Instead of Gunman)

Oh, I'm done updating the mod. I've sent a priviate message to Thunderfall about how to upload the mod. Until then, we are just going to have to wait until Thunderfall responds, unless theres a method of Uploading you know of Unexisted?

How big is the file completely zipped? Just your updates, not the enitre one. :)

As I added several civs and techs, I decided to make a progression of units to match the techs that were available, with a bit of flavouring for North/South America. I knew that Sword_of_Geddon was going to sort out the units, so I paid more attention to the leaderhead stuff and getting a basic framework in place.

BTW, I like the updates you've done Sword_of _Geddon :) .

Unexisted: are you going to add the Inuit stuff I put in when you get hold of Sword_of_Geddon's updated files?

Sword_of_Geddon : I've got Civilopedia entries available for the Arawak, Tupi (if I haven't put it in already), Apache and Cherokee. Please let me know if you've already done them for these civs and if not, I'll update your Civilopedia.txt file tomorrow if it's been posted by then.
