Native America Mod

Sword_Of_Geddon : It's Unexisted's call what we do about this. Below are uploads of my work today. This is in two folders, due to their size. One folder is the reworking of the science advisor screens for the second and third eras, ie the arrows are all pointing to the right places :) .

The other file contains all the rest. Updates include:
-Civilopedia entry for all civilizations, including a brief history and details of their trait and free tech.
-The Inuit have been added.
-Corrected things like governments being available at the start of the game, Rain-in-the-face leaderhead causing crash.
-The science advisor now gives advice on the techs in the mod, not the techs in the main game. It was nice to learn how to do this ;) .
-Some civs did not have many units, I corrected this using Sword_Of_Geddon's previous posts to advise who should have what.
-The number of players is now 19, to match the number of tribes we now have.
-The barbarian tribe names have been revamped, keeping the same number (to prevent crashing) but renaming them to other native tribes not in the game.
-The shaman now has the correct civilopedia picture.
-Temple of Tikal (doubles effect of temples) and Statue of Crazy Horse (halves unit upgrade cost) World Wonders added.

It's a technology that I put in 'cos I didn't want to have workers building certain things, so linked building them to the "They will never know" technology, which is unresearchable. It's the only way I could figure out how to do it. The downside is that it shows in the Civilopedia....

When I was working on it, I changed that tech alittle(took the fort option and moved it to European Tactics) and I renamed it "Never"

Ok, nevermind the 3.2 patch. I was playtesting the 3.0 version, and numerious bugs popped up due to names of files like "Aztec Archer_Default.flc" not having the correct names. I fixed a few of these, then ran into another problem that is out of my league: As soon as I built the "Shaman Monument" wonder, the game crashed!

Its clear to me now that whatever bugs are in the mod, that 3.2 patch wouldn't have gotten.

So I'll post this request of people:

Play the 3.0 version of the mod(with the 3.1 patch as well as RF's new updates above), and let us know what errors and bugs occur(Make sure you write down what it was) and Unexisted, RF and I will attempt to fix them(I'll do what I can, the unit filenames).

Wow, a lot happened here over night.

@Sword_of_Geddon, it's okay, we all make mistakes in the beginning. Thats why some of my first leaderheads weren't released. Besides, you've done a fine job. BTW, we got about 4 links to download to own the most up to date version, right? So, could somebody specificy which exact ones to download? :)

Then, I'll be ready for my turn. :)

Oh yes, and R8XFT, could you make a Mayan-like interface? :) Just for the advisor screen. You know, carved rocks, (maybe some moss?) I'll try doing the Diplomatic Table. :)

Ok Unexisted, heres what you need to do to install everything right:

1st. Install the Legen
2nd. Install the 3.0 patch
3rd Install the 3.1 patch(Delete your Boomstickman foldier first)
4th Install RF's two updates above

3.0, 3.1 and RF's updates should all be combined into a new patch "4.0"

Thanks, I got some free time right now, so I'm making some interface. :) Preview by tonite, maybe? :)

I made the Diplomacy and TileInfo interface now. Both Mayan/Iroquois and Cherokee-like. I couldn't get a screenshot due to severe amounts of .ini errors. (I hope you're aware of this R8XFT? :) )

Though, I got a chance to see one of them. But it appears completely black in-game. And I did remember to make it 256 coloring. In fact, I got so worried, that i forgot, I lowered it to 16 coloring :D

The pcx's for those three files are fixed and available in the download below. They look pretty cool IMHO. They all needed (in Paintshop Pro) to be made so that they didn't use the last two slots for colour - I think this is the first two slots in other art packages. In terms of the TileInfo.pcx, it also needed to be resized - in Conquests, this file needs to be 256x173 pixels or it won't work properly - this is larger than pre-Conquests versions.

In terms of the mod overall, it's not working properly due to the ini file problems. I can fix that, no problem, but then it comes to uploading it. Whilst the actual upload isn't a great deal, it becomes difficult for me to work out what needs to go in an update and for people trying to use the mod to work out which files to download, what wants to go where etc. I think that once I've fixed it, I should upload the whole lot again so that there's one download only. What do you guys think? I'll playtest it thoroughly before uploading to make sure I've ironed out all the bits and pieces.

Thanks R8XFT, nice to have a fireman one our side. :)

Don't upload the entire thing again, just the update. Then I'll put it together and finalize it (ONE BIG DL :D)

EDIT: They look nice, except, if you could make the side columns of the Diplomacy lighter, (dark and dark letters). Not very easy to see. And look at the TileInfo. It doesn't display the terrain, picture. And if you could, on the TileInfo, (if you could use the 'Buttonize' option in Jasc7.) Gives it the 3d thing, like the original one? :)

Rirse, are you part of the team now as well? If so, glad to have you aboard, we need all the help we can get!

Unexisted: You need the Scout unit foldier to be placed inside the units foldier in the Native America mod "art" foldier. Just make sure you rename the foldier "Tribesman", and the ini. file "Tribesman.ini".

That should fix the problem. I got that one to when I was playtesting the 3.0 version after I created it.

Well, I lost track, who has the most updated version? Does R8XFT have it? Didn't you finish your turn Sword_of_Geddon? And Mobilize, don't modify it right now. Wait, til R8XFT uploads his full and final version?
 Which should :rolleyes:be very soon?

@Rirse, welcome. If you can think of anything critcal, please post your mind.

Thanks Unexisted, even so I might not be the most helpful person in the world. I do pay attention to this mod at any chance I get, since I have nothing better to do this Spring Break. By the way, did you get the file. Because I never used "Unload File" before, and don't know if it worked or not.

I suggest you don't upload the .biq
Because, Mobilize wouldn't get the most updated version. (Right R8XFT? :) )
