NBA Offseason/Labormagedon thread

Why do you think they're in such a hurry to get rid of Rondo? And is Indiana going to be able to compete if they shed half of their core to get him?

Rumors now are Paul to Lakers, Gasol to Houston and a couple of Rockets to the Hornets :scan: .

Why do you think they're in such a hurry to get rid of Rondo?
At this point, now that they've completely destroyed his confidence by doing everything but openly admitting that they're shopping him, they kinda have to deal him, no?

of course you have to wonder why anyone would want rondo that badly when you can destroy his confidence so easily
It's the inverse of why you might want Jason Terry :<

also ALSO

[15:45] <@Kraznaya> WojYahooNBA Adrian Wojnarowski
[15:45] <@Kraznaya> It is likely that the Hornets will receive draft picks as part of a package for Paul, but source says: "Those are still being determined."
[15:45] <@Dachs> you keep going further and further west
[15:45] <@Kraznaya> EVEN MORE
[15:45] <@Kraznaya> hopefully those are lakers draft picks
[15:45] <@Dachs> it'd make no sense if they were rockets picks
[15:45] <@Kraznaya> who knwos maybe daryl morey lost his mind
[15:46] <@Dachs> I always thought morey was overrated

Howard Beck: Hornets will receive Odom, Scola, KMartin, Dragic and the Knicks' 2012 1st-round pick (via Houston). Rockets get Pau Gasol.

.............

THE GOOD NEWS: The NBA apparently vetoed the trade (even though the NBA, as owner of the Hornets, had to sign off on it in the first place :crazyeye:)

THE BETTER NEWS: The fallout has been hilarious so far (including Odom crying on the radio)

THE BEST NEWS: If Gasol does end up staying with the Lakers, his confidence is going to be even more in the toilet this season than it was during that Mavs bloodbath in the playoffs

We seriously lost the 2 months of season over competative balance for small market teams only to have the only league owned team, in one of the smallest markets, try to ship its only star off to the second largest market.

ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff

I don't think they're necessarily in a hurry, but if they think they can get the best PG they'll trade him. They're gonna need a serious kick in the pants if they want to make one last run with the old three.

Also I'm going to guess this is could be the death knell of New Orleans basketball. Intially the league only wanted to have a buyer that would keep the team in town, and rejected offers from buyers that would probably move it like Larry Ellison. Now I bet they'll want to sell it off pronto to whoever. Hello San Jose/Vancouver/Seattle Hornets.

Yeah, I wonder why the NBA vetoed it. It's far less onesided than the first Pau deal.

How would LA get Howard now? Bynum for Howard straight up isn't good enough. Chicago can offer a way better deal...unless New Orleans cuts Odom, LA signs him back, then promptly trades him to Orlando haha

Yeah, vetoing the deal might be the worst thing that's happened to NO basketball since Katrina. Getting Scola, K-Mart, Dragic, and picks was great - now they'll have to settle for way less or even be unable to flip CP3 at all before his contract runs out.

because chi/bos/mia/okc started screaming about it at the meeting today?

They haven't lost Odom yet...

the proposed deal was a GREAT deal for NO, a good deal for the lakers, and a terrible one for houston

i'm still laughing my ass off about what transpired by the way

Wow, this is just too funny with CP3. Suffer Lakers!

Why the heck does anyone want to throw max money at Chandler? He will be quite worthless without Dirk and Kidd.

Yep. Paul is off the market now right? How can they trade him after this? He'll just walk at the end of the season and NO gets nothing.

i don't think paul is necessarily off the market

if he was traded to the clips or dubs for example, one of the key owner factions that blocked this trade (the contenders) will probably not veto it

Agreed.

The way I see it, the Lakers deal for Howard, Paul refuses to extend with anyone, opts out, and signs with LA as a free agent.

The huge irony here is that blocking the trade just lets LAL get CP3 for free a year later, making them a considerably better team. Idiots.
