settled right there on the spot met cathy, shaka, zara i noticed something different about this map, its is just flat, no wrap around? what is this map called i built stonehenge because land is good so i'm going to spread it out, went bw, animalh, writing, pottery(not sure if this was a mistake or not probably not because of granery) i'm about to get alphabet, just settled my 4th city a few turns ago, my cap got a great scientist(thank you stonehenge with library at 30% odds woot) about to get a 5th city with my settler coming out soon.. going to try to trade for hunting and other techs asap i noticed zaka is to my north, i was lucky enough to whip out axemen fast stupid barbs, 0 losses not sure what to do with my crazy aggro neighbors I'm hoping zara will tick off one of the aggro ppl he tends to overexpand into ppls backyards, I'll need to scout and consider warring zulu if he's too big then I'll cottage up and play the long game I think

hmm am I expanding too slow?

at 10 cities... cathy beat me to the horses but I'm trading zara for horsies napolean DOW on me out of the blue... and then we peaced 10 turns later we coulda been such good tech allies I built parthenon in my cap need more great people... i plan to grow to 11 cities and attack zulu in the north... cathy forced me to believe in Jesus but I plan to return the favor and try to steal from her via spies... hopefully dunno

so zulu DOW 2 turns earlier than I would have(it was rather inconvenient as I conceded a city but at least I got him to move his SoD away from his big cities and caught the stack in the open.... i take 4 of his cities and then he caps 3 turns later, cathy asks to be my vassal so funny I was waiting for her to backstab me it is now 1370 ad, about to hit liberalism in 5 turns, i guess going to go for cuirasiers and probably get monty next before zara eats him

1600 AD fun times, having fun because of the hilarity

I pretty much started world war 1, I got greedy and took hammy's city and then of course he vassalized to zara and then DoW me besides being on the other side of the map I eliminate zulu who became monty's vassal and pretty much they are at war with me... I eliminate zulu and then monty swoops in and takes a city and then 2 turns later through the AP they declare world peace and that is where I'm at... I'm going to build up my cuirassiers/soon to be cavalry and own monty and then maybe france?

finished! my regret is not completely finishing off so and so opponent versus letting him cap, I finished my game with a domination victory in 1850ish ad, at the end I had 38 cities and tons of tanks pouring in, although I think I could have made do with just hordes of calvary, not sure hard to say

one particular AI had a vassal with 15 cities and 4 respectively, I think it woulda been easier if I just wiped out some civ's... when going for domination how to calculate this? any general rule of thumb

Well, Civ IV sucked me in again, figured I'd finally give one of these a go. Playing on Noble, which I don't usually win on.

Capitol's not too bad - fresh water, food resource, forests to chop. It could be worse at least. Philo + the rivers makes me want early farms, grab something like an early library and start running specialists. This'll actually be new for me, since I usually do cottage spam. Time to crash and burn!

Good luck with your game. For your information, that may be not the easiest map to play Civ after a long break. I planed it to be a bit more challenging. If you have hard time beating Noble, you may have to post your game from time to time, and ask for advices to progress (and improve your game of course)

Immortal 1150 AD

The map is huge. I probably should have expected this and avoided 1-move Engineering army, but instead I'm slogging through huge amounts of land and massive French stacks.

I did decide to go for Cathy and Napolean first because she peace vassaled to him and the two of them were starting to run away with wonders and land. Cathy herself was easy, but then Nappy's huge stacks started appearing. His unit spam in this game resembles Deity.

I was able to successfully defend against this one in St Pete.

But then this one appeared and i was forced to let him take Moscow then counter.

I pulled this move to be in position to hit his stack once he took the vacated city.

I was able to take his stack down to this, but then i had to take peace in exchange for Moscow since i had nothing left and was about to get countered.

After 10 turns of peace and then quickly finishing Cathy off this one showed up:

Once again i fell back outside of the city and let him capture it.

When the dust settled his stack was completely wiped out and I was left with this (plus a few more units 1SE of my stack)


Golden age just ended. I'm gonna finish Edu and grab MT with Lib and see if i can't make a little faster progress with some Cuirs and eventually Cavs. I do have Nationalism, but lack GP at the moment. Nappy has both Guilds and GP so I'm really hoping he's out of big stacks at the moment so i can take a few cities and vassal him. Getting those techs will be quite nice. He also has a boat load of wonders over there if i can get to them. Moscow actually isn't too bad in that regard either:

managed to keep shaka off my back by sharing a war with him against monty(which I didn't fight in)Also kept Cathy at pleased by gifting techs and sharing her religion.Had a DOW from Napoleon which didn't amount to much-he was just suiciding HA,s into spears.

I concentrated on tech but couldn't compete with Cathy on the lib race.

Eventually Shaka capitulated Monty and then declared war on me.After massacering his stack of cuirrisars with infantry I went on the attack and took 5 of his city before he capitulated to Zara.

Meanwhile Cathy was still teching like a demon and was going for culture,she almost got it too but I managed to raze St petersberg with Mech infantry and modern armour,then after I razed another city I took peace,at which point she capitulated to Zara.

I Got min inc and sids sushi spread to all my citys so had good production for building the spaceship parts,9 turns to build an engine.

With no marble or stone I didn't build any wonders except for the colossus and statue of liberty because we had copper,and the space elevator of course.
