We have discovered new information regarding Item 23. It appears it is actually a living thing. They are organisms created from alien DNA and bio-tech artefacts designed to be super intelligent and are able to manipulate and create powerful energy fields. This is believed to be their current appearance.

The factions of Soldia and our neighbours must decide how to treat these new lifeforms.
 
Indeed it would be but we have no idea of their strength or numbers and while they are newly hatched I doubt they are defenceless.
 
FYI: update in approx 24 hours. I could have stayed up late and rushed it, but I'd rather do it properly, and try to make it more epic :)

Thought: I should've made the map even bigger. This turn, the middle of the map is one big mass of explosions and units.

Is it on the level of epicness where it screams for a soundtrack? We've only had one for the Imperial Palace attack turn and COBRA's high tide turn, both of which were epic, and both unforunately, depressing for me.
Anyways, can't wait.:)
 
@Vert- Hmm, is that not the creature that said 'Mew' a few updates back?

I've just gone back and found/saved the soundtrack on update 10- it really gives Soldia a rather dark atmosphere. How'd you put it together Daft?

I didn't get enough time today. Another hour or so needed to tidy things up. Very nearly finished, but I think I should really get to sleep for once!

@Matt0088 and Lord_Iggy, that track was from Unreal Tournament 2004, it seems to really stand out from the other UT tracks though. Its a poor quality conversion from a funny music format (OGG Vorbis or something like that), but still, I guess I really shouldn't be posting things like that due to legal issues and stuff?!

The forces of the Red Crusade suddenly and unexpectedly began to attack the Aliens, their supposed allies. It seems that Holy Field Marshall Matt0088 managed to convince the rest of Red High Command to turn against the 'Goddess'. It also seems that the whole Red Crusade had come dangerously close to being absorbed into the Alien faction... The true motives and actions of Red commanders during the previous days and weeks may never be known. But the Red Crusade was now throwing its biggest guns at the Aliens.

First, a new unit of Heavy Tanks joined Red's southern armored force, and together they swiftly overran the aliens in E3. With friendly Light Bombers flying overhead, the Red tanks then moved towards the giant Alien 'gun' in D4, again meeting little resistance, as it seemed the nearby Aliens were still suffering from some kind of energy emanating from the mysterious mountains at C4...

However, some former-Red units were already under Alien control. In the north, other Red units completed the capture of Orange HQ, and took a well-earned break for rest and repair. But Alien-controlled Light Tanks attacked the airfield at C5, catching Red's Medium Tanks off guard, and destroying some Light Bombers on the ground. A unit of Red Troopers managed to hold the airfield, although they were almost wiped out in the process. The surviving Medium tanks fled back to former-Orange HQ. The Alien tanks remained a threat.

More air units flew in from the Jurghenze-Thelsing Labour Union, Soldia's northern neighbour, to attack the Aliens and aid Red forces on the ground. It is rumoured that the JTLU agreed for this in return for Red Crusade dropping complaints over the JTLU's seaborne rescue of Popcornlord and the Orange high command.

At the same time, COBRA reinforcements were heading north with orders to attack both the Aliens and Reds... And it soon became clear that COBRA was fielding a new kind of weapon, large robotic war machines known only as 'Mechs', with experimental weapons and rocket-assisted 'jump' capability, giving greater firepower and flexibility than anything else in the COBRA arsenal. One of them, allegedly piloted by Grand Field Marshal Thlayli himself, led COBRA's advance against the Aliens, arriving just in time to save the damaged Robotanks from destruction, as the mysterious 'Shield' seemed to falter.

Supported by Heavy Fighters overhead, and by artillery in G7 and E8, COBRA units launched a full assault against the Alien 'city' in E6 and the great Monstrosity hovering nearby. But they had to adjust their line of attack, as the Monstrosity was moving rapidly towards E4, the Red Crusade capitol... It seemed that the Aliens had anticipated the Red Crusade's change of sides, and had singled them out for special punishment. The strongest Alien units were all heading in that direction.

At the same time, COBRA Helicopters carried out a trademark aerial insertion of a mixed force of Stormtroopers and Commandos to the south-east of the Red Capitol. These troops met with an advancing unit of Armored Cars, and then began to harass the flanks of Red positions, just as the Reds began a desperate fight against the approaching Alien onslaught. COBRA's Mech and other units were not far behind...

The relative lull in the fighting in central Soldia came to an abrupt end. Red Crusade, Alien and COBRA forces now clashed head-on around the city at E4. Strange mutant creatures emerged from the water, apparently under Alien control. Biplanes from the Karamandu Empire arrived to offer whatever support they could to COBRA. The elite SEF snipers of DarthNader also became involved in the fighting, picking off COBRA troops as they strayed too near to SEF HQ. A chaotic battle engulfed the whole area. Commanders on all sides lost control of the situation - even if COBRA and the Red Crusade were willing to unite against the Aliens, there would have been no way for the message to get through.

With no 'Shield' to protect them, and COBRA pressing at their flanks, Red units felt the full force of the Alien weaponry. Heavy Artillery positions on the outskirts of E4 fired one last salvo at the Monstrosity before being wiped out by approaching swarms of Alien creatures, led by large Alien 'Dreadnaughts' armed with rapid-firing cannons, accompanied by the mysterious former-Anarchist Elite Armored Troopers. The Red tanks, led by Matt0088 in person, tried to rally the defence of their capitol. Fierce battles were fought in the city streets. But it was too late. The Alien advance had been unexpected, and was simply too overwhelming. Nearby COBRA units were also a big problem. The best that Matt0088 could achieve was to withdraw in fairly good order, having accounted for a fair number of Alien dead, and with the new Heavy Tank unit still in good shape.

The Monstrosity claimed the Red Capitol. Desperate refugees blocked all the roads leading out of the city. The majority could not escape the dark mass of tentacles descending from the sky. But even as it fed upon the residents of the city, the Monstrosity was under constant attack from all sides, not least the giant craft of the mysterious 'Overseer', with which it exchanged strange energy blasts. Large chunks of bio-mechanical debris were blasted off the Monstrosity and rained down on the battlefield below. The cannons of the JTLU Super Tank Killers exposed more holes in the 'exoskeleton', into which COBRA Heavy Fighters launched their guided missiles. The two, smaller, accompanying Monstrosities simply seemed to disappear as the firefight began, as if they had been nothing more than illusions to begin with. Even so, the original Monstrosity proved resilient enough. It was the craft of the 'Overseer' that went down first, splashing into the Bay of Huli, near Aqua HQ.

The fighting shows no signs of dying down at this point. COBRA units have captured the Alien 'city' at E6, which seems to be slowly disintegrating. To the north, the mutated former-Space Priat Heavy Tanks have occupied the remains of the refugee camp, and appear to be attacking nearby Aliens as well as COBRA units. Red forces are examining the giant 'gun' at D4.

The capture of Orange HQ and the presence of Red commanders on the front lines seems to have kept up morale among the Red troops. So far no other Red units have fallen under Alien influence.

There are rumours of underground battles taking place between SEF and Alien forces.

Meanwhile, it is believed that large force of Aqua Troopers and Commandos was involved in some kind of secret mission in the north-west of Soldia. A large explosion was detected in sector B10. Once again, Aqua news channels are saying nothing. A separate quarantine of the area is still in effect.

Aqua command called in a special incendiary airstrike on area D8 to destroy the Alien presence there. Aqua heavy tanks and nearby COBRA troopers moved in to finish off the surviving Aliens. This confirmed Aqua's hostility, leaving the Aliens without any friends from among the main Soldian factions.

Crimson Ghost Snipers had also been hiding in the area, but were carried to safety just in time, by the Speedboats of the Green Liberation Army. It isn't clear if these are the last remaining Crimson Ghost forces. In any case they seem to be following General Popcornlord and heading out of Soldia. The fate of Bestshot9 is unknown.

Relative calm has returned to Aqua territory. There are no signs of any more rebellions. There are also no signs of Aqua forces aiding COBRA efforts across the rest of Soldia...

The south-west was mostly quiet. This time, as the Alien Monstrosity was occupied elsewhere, the COBRA capitol was spared any major weapons fire. COBRA and CGC units were able to rest and regroup in peace.

It seems that the Snow Brigade Commandos finished off the last of the Kangaraptor creatures in the jungles of I7 and H8, with a little help from the survivors of a COBRA Sniper team. There are rumours of more Kangaraptors still lurking on the borders of Soldia. COBRA scientists are said to be working on this problem.

COBRA and CGC engineers are dismantling the abandoned Space Pirat air transports at G8. A convoy has arrived to take away useful parts and supplies.

At the same time as fighting the Aliens, COBRA High Command ordered the recapture of the port city of I3 from the SEF. Once again, COBRA forces attacked from I3 from both north and south. CGC Field Marshall Tuxedohamm was back in action, supporting the operation with his elite Snipers from H4. The battered and exhausted SEF troops stood their ground. Some of the advancing COBRA units were not in especially great shape either. Both sides fought on under strict orders from their commanders. Things only got worse as the fighting wore on, with troops on both sides became disorganised and cut off.

Support from COBRA Rocket Artillery was cut short by the former Space Pirat Gunships working for the SEF. CGC Light Fighters flew in to attack the Gunships, but it was too late to save the remaining launchers. Some unusual dogfights then took place north of COBRA HQ. The SP Gunships, armed with rapid-firing cannons, proved a match for the CGC fighters.

There are rumours of some kind of underground trap left by the SEF in H4. But COBRA casualties were highest at J3, under bombardment from SEF artillery and Guided Launcher fire. Well-placed missiles were eventually able to knock out the prized COBRA Robotanks, although by then the damage had been done to the SEF defence line - it seems the SEF forces had anticipated the southern COBRA force to push towards the former Jade Army outpost J2, not strike the south of I3. The defenders of I3 were eventually forced out, leaving behind their damaged, Lenierde-made Armored Infantry suits for COBRA to capture, though they at least managed to prevent their Light Tanks from being completely destroyed. COBRA Commandos raised the COBRA flag, and the ruined city changed hands for the seventh time, and probably not the last. Fresh SEF forces are believed to be gathering nearby.

The damaged bridge at J4 eventually collapsed, taking some Snow Brigade vehicles with it. Luckily most of the APC unit and all of the Snipers had already managed to get across.

COBRA had a final surprise for the SEF. Another 'Mech' unit unexpectedly arrived in the vicinity of SEF HQ. It seems that this Mech alone was able to navigate the mountains of G2, and lay waste to the SEF Mining Facility there, before destroying several SEF Fixed Artillery positions in G1, and destroying at least $1 worth of supplies heading for SEF HQ. It appears that most nearby SEF units were in the middle of regrouping and re-arming. The SEF Guided Launchers switched targets to this new threat, but were too late to cause much damage. Things could have been worse for the SEF if not for the timely intervention of their Light Tanks in H1.

Strange creatures and plants continue to lurk by land and sea.

Observers from the Holy Karamandu Empire continue to travel with COBRA troops.

Popcornlord has left Soldia. It is believed that at least one Orange unit is still in hiding somewhere.

It seems the Aliens are able to build underwater. Currently only Submarines, Destroyers, Robotanks and Mechs will be able to destroy these.

COBRA enjoys a growing reputation among foreign countries.

To the south of Soldia, the countries of Lenierde and Greater Gondwania continue to fight their own war. There is still heavy fighting, but things seem to be in deadlock.

With everything going horribly wrong, and no hope in sight, I request permission to activate the "Chocolate Parfait Monster" as a final stab into this bloody chaotic mess that was once our glorious Soldia. Let the world be plunged into the chaos that now engulfs our homeland, let us roll the cosmic dice and hope for a Better Yesterday! GIVE ME THE ACTIVATION CODES, SO WE MAY HAVE A GLORIOUS EFFIGY FOR OUR CRUSADE!

OOC: Daft, eather my commander has gone insane (and really wants some Ice cream, or everyone should dogpile upon Red and finish us off before we activate the CPM.
 
Wow...very impressive update.

The aliens are retreating. COBRA analysts estimate that 3 more turns will produce an endgame.
