Flemmingia
It was late June before anyone in Flemmingia began to consider long term plans, for the last month they had been try to survive on what they could, deer and firewood from the forest, fish from the sea and wter from a near by stream. The most pressing issue for Flemmingia was its long term food supply, everyone knew that they were killing deer fasterthan they could reproduce and this meant the hunter had to venture further into the unknown woods.
As a result Prince Francis orderd the construction of eight great estates build around the city, six to grow crops for the new city and the other two to house the livestock. Each of the crop estaes were to given a equal share of the seeds that the ship brought, and the livestock farm would each be given half the livestock.
Crops (1 - 6):
Cost : 180 Gold (estimate)
Jobs : 250 Workers (170 are seasonal)
Crops : Bean, Corn, Potatos and Wheat
Livestock (7 & 8):
Cost : 160 Gold (estimate)
Jobs : 90 Workers
Estate 7 Animals : 100 Chickens, 3 Bulls and 15 Cows
Estate 8 Animals : 12 Bulls, 60 Cows
Total cost for all 8 estates comes to an estimated 1400 Gold and 1680 Jobs.
The second issue brough to Francis by his advisor is the issue of security, nobody knows what waits beyond. The obvious response for this action is to form a militia force to defend the new city from the unknown. It was suggest that a force of 300 men should sufice, the force would also be able look after the few horses that were available. So the order to build a small fort containing stables and barracks was given.
Fort Amsterdam:
Troops : 270 Infantry (170 Spears (Wooden), 100 Crossbowmen), 30 Horsemen (Wooden Spears)
Auxillary : 30 Stable Staff, 10 Weaponsmiths, 20 Other
Total : 360 Men
Other : 50 Horses
