Neo Nes : Legends

Your people need gold to pay each other or revert to some other form of backup currency or regress to a domestic economy.

xacthly... why not hang on to a good thing? I'm sure we're not THAT far from each other... I hope to find some iron coins to pay with though

I'd like to hang on to my gold... I'll pay my people back once I get 'nuff of some other metal that works out

is a story nes (kinda) so you write how your people are being rewarded for working. and done. Is your empire, you do whatever you want. :)

The Portugese had lost a lot of infrastructure when they fled their old homeland.

Some of the bare nessecities were provided for, so the Portugese were enjoying a relativly high standerd of living, compared to the days on the Boats. The Priests, well actually Priest, and he was very Old. Moaned about a place of worship Reynald would get around to it at some point. Other than that The country had some philosophical types, who pondered the questions of God, sometimes treading a bit close to Heresy, but Reynald needed their Advice.

5000 buildings, what to do what to do.

Well...The State DID need some money back, and even now some of the people were getting rich....Reynald Decided he would sell....300 of them, enough to keep them fairly expensive, due to demand, and then go about the movements of putting the other buildings to good use. That should make them pay even more....

He wasn't going to sell them all however, he needed some for other uses. He just hadn't thought of anything yet.

hmm i believe that Takeda is still open? If so, It's mine now :). Can't send any stories until weekend, too many school project's underway.

Update II : Eyes Wide Open

COLUMBUS DISCOVERS THE OLD WORLD.
A vessel moved in the sea, a few italians saw it and were amazed. The ship saw them and followed the fisherman up to New Rome. Out of the ship came someone quite unheard of in Italy. His name was Cristopher Columbus, he was very old, thirty something years ago he had left spain for the search of a path to India. He could not belive the stories of the series of events that forced the remainder of europe to sail into exile. He had in his pocket a map. A map of the Continent, it had taken him twenty years to put it together. As he talked, Roman carthographers copied it to the smallest detail. Columbus spoke of a great empire, the Tlacolotl empire. The story that he had discovered was that many many years ago, the native populations were divided into three clans, the Aztec, the Inca and the Maya. Then, according to Legend the Maya emperor made a deal w/ Tlacolotl, the Mayan god of evil, no one knows the pact (altough it is most likely a silly legend). But 7 years later all people were united into a single empire. From then on, there is only one deity in their nation. Tlacolotl.
Many Generations have passed since those days, and somewhere along the line human sacrifice was abolished. Today it is ruled by the last living descendant of that emperor. Empress Chasca, her name is the same to the goddes of beuty, a parallel to what we would call Venus of the ancient greeks. And the name is no exageration. I was lucky enough to go to their capital and able to see her. Very beutiful indeed. The natives provided us with food when we landed. We tried to go back to spain, but due to the storms, we always ended up here. Now that ive seen new human faces, i may die in peace....
He picked up the map and sailed off, he expected other people to have landed and so he found other nations. And those nations, w/ the knowledge of his map reached yet more and so until everyone knew where each was.

Effect of the Columbus event:
Map revealed
everyone has communications

From Empress Chasca of the Tlacolotl Empire:
To All new small insignificant new nations:
I demand some sort of tribute from your puny clans. In exchange, ill allow a party of 7 individuals from each nation to come visit me to my imperial court in my Capital.

POPE, POPE, POPE
Thinking the Pope of Rome was dead, the people of Greece stablished a Pope for first time since the division of the church. In Spain another Pope was proclaimed. Everything was fine until the columbus event. Now there are 3 Popes in the world, the question is who will back down and who will fight for the Title. Just a question of fate.

THE FRENCH COLONISATION AND THE STRANGE ISLAND
The French leader (now considered a tyrant by other nations) decided to send a large portion of its population off its shores. It was succesful, one landing nearby. And one landing far away, near a river Delta.
As the ships traveled they passed by a strange island. From affar it seemed perfectly round. Noone had the time to investigate tough.

OTTOMANS- White Elephants:
The white elephants that are local fauna in the Ottoman nearby territory are a great resourse. Not only can they push trees down easily, but their ivory is highly valuable. It is a matter of time until they are incorporated into their military.
However an interesting thing was sighted. All of the sudden the sky darkened, and from the sky came a bird so huge that it seemed to cover the sun with its great wings. It came down and like an eagle grabed an elephant and flew away!. The Roc Bird then flew with its prey back home.

FLEMMINGIA AND NEW SPAIN-
As these northern people advanced on their expnasion they discovered a strange, yet familiar animal. Some herds of Sleipnir were found. Altough hard to catch, some where placed into captivity and put on the ranches. The Sleipnir are much faster than nurmal horses having 8 legs. Its diet consists mainly in the local miracle grass, so it appears nowhere else in the world

VINLAND MAKES PROGRESS-
After being some of the slowest to develop in this new world, Vinland nevertheless has made several advances. They now have the first working mines in any of the exiled nations. Gold and Iron now runs and is available to make more advanced weapons. As the miners went to work, they encountered a strange animal, a Jackalope. It is some sort of deer, rabbit hybrid. They are very delicious and reproduce quickly.

THREAT TO ROMAN BOVINE BREEDING:

In Rome some cattle has been attacked and eaten by a strange beast. It comes at night and takes young cattle, or devours parts of the adults. People that were unlucky to see it descrive it as some sort of serpent like creature w/ bird or mammal feet, a sirrush.

CHINA-

In china tea plants were planted in a addition to a temple nearby. In china a strange bird has been seen, one that makes sweet smelling nests, a nest was brought down and it was made from the fruit of the cinnamon. Merchants regard this cinnamon better than any other kind. The bird being called Cinnamolgus.

NEW PORTUGAL:
In New portugal the cows seem to have a problem. Their milk production has decreased dramatically. Something appears to come at night and suck the milk from the animal. bite marks can be found everymorning. It appears that the animal only come when it is completely dark. A Broxa.

ATHENIAN FACES UNKOWN BEAST
Several people have been lost at night, leaving no trace, no footprints, no clothes, no nothing. If the trend continues, people will not leave and expansion will be slowed dramatically. Some rumor of a Manticore to live in the nearby forests. Some disapearances have occured near new rome too.

Heres the old map so you know what nation is which and the map legend

update monday

Nothing speicel in France? >.< Well except for a round island...
Oh well... Hmmm I'll edit into here a story soon :)

Stalin, am I the only player with enough food to... survive? :D
I mean, without major food riots and shtuff? Lolzor! You guys are all going to have to buy smacky from queen empress lollipopp ****! Hahahahaha! AGRICULTURE!!! BWAHAHAHAH...

well, there is a 3 turn "noone starves" period until players get the hang of it. then there wll be starvation

how can takaedas territory be so much bigger than in the original one, I didn't send orders yet O_o

... so does their food deficiency get banked? If not there is no motive for me to be responsible about my food production. May I keep my surplus 82.000 food units and sell some of it to the empress? If not I'll feel penalized for being responsible and efficient - Communism... brrr...

because in the real world.. people don't 'not starve'

I really, really think I should get to sell all the food that noone eats while I build out a proper agricultuaral system. Or I should get to bank it, like as if we brought three years of food for everyone, and then we dig in on what we've stored.

The Broxa

Reynald had had enough of these damn reports on the cows.

He looked mulled over the problem; the beasts attack at night.

He grumbeled over the lack of details.

So whats happens at night time, its darks, theres almost no activity. Reynald frowned *HUMAN* activity. He decided to set a rota every farm would have two persons with Torches and Bow and Arrows. They would hunt the damn beasts.

Reynald moved onto someothere work...frowened, then moved back to considering this problem. He felt that he was missing something....An experiment he would use some of these glowing bird feathers, and give them to some of the men on the "Broxa shift", say about 4 feathers see if there is a difference. And through in orders to attempt to capture these damn beasts, they may have uses.

Expansion
Expansion had brought the Portugese people a river! The land down their was VERY fertile. Reynald decided to move 5,000 people, the ones working the somewhat bloated now, farmyards. And work on these.

Maybe He would finally make a surplus this year.

Speaking of Gold
New Portugal Was Crafting some fine lumber, but it was well in excess of what they needed for the moment. He would sell 200 lumber each year. maybe the merchants in the city could actually do something more productive, like build a trading fleet. And trade with some potential Friends...
And on another note, New Portugal had managed to produce textiles for the people, but Reynald thought, what is the point in me stockpiling it?!? Either you wear it or it sits their. He decided to sell it and get the gold.

And the Rest
Reynald dicussed what to do with the remaining unemployed and excess stockpiled wood. What do we want to build that will keep the unemployed occupied. This wasn't a state where you could sit around all day and expect to be fed. No they had to do something usefull, even if it was only small things. Like last years Road project.....He would have a think, and that new queen he needed to mull over her too.

But more imporantly he needed to chat to his frienldier neighbours.

Total Costs: 100 gold, Selling of 300 Lumber a year, selling of 100 textiles a year.
