Or, you can also setup your own chatroom on IRC. You can even use the #civ3mp room. But, if you want to be able to do things like password protect a room, voice/devoice, kick etc., then register a room.
wierdly enough it does NOT require AOL to work/run.
i never tried the msn instant messenger thing.
and i didnt like icq when i tried it.
but AIM is prety simple and seems to work prety well (though it is a bit resourse hoggy for this particular computer, but most programs, including windows, are too resourse hoggy for this computer, lol)
Actually i thought we already all had AIM. It's important enough for at least RTOR that you should get it if you're a serious NES player and are considering the professional circuit lol: I started to write that and realized how awful it sounded. I'm going to go take a bath now to get the 'looser' infection rid of)
MSN and AIM are similair and have the same function but they cannot connect to each other if you want to talk to somebody on MSN you have to use a MSN account (aka hotmail), if you want to talk to someone on AIM you have to have an AIM account, you can get both of them for free (you can pay for them to if you really want but it is rather pointless, unless you need alot of website space)
For MSN yes, for aIM it is simply a screen name, you have to take extra steps to get an email address through aIM which for the record will make it through Netscape, as AIM is not an email you can put spaces and anything else you like (except smilies, which I have never seen in one) in the name
Erik Mesloy and I have taken the liberty of setting up a channel for fellow NESers (even former ones as myself). To join, connect to irc.irc-chat.net and join #NES.
