NES game Concepts for newbies

I would like to add another tip to all those new NESers out there.

Never upload your strategic plans onto the CivFanatics Uploads. Use Photobucket, or Yahoo or your own website.

I just stumbled on a pile of very interesting maps there.....

Since we are sharing some tips, here's a good one I just formulated:

"Expect everything on the first turn".

It applies to all, but "Fresh Start" NESes. When your alliances are green, relations unclear and goals not shown, players tend to do crazy things to each other to gain advantages: strike first, betray their allies to gain control, or favours of other stronger allies, incite rebellions in the neighbouring lands so that you are left alone while neighbours deal with rebellions. A lot of crazy things often happen at first turn and you better be ready for anything that might happen. Even if it is the least expected.

uhm, I think that you should take part of couple NESes since you'll need more experience before you start your own NES.

I just started 11 days ago and I get most of it now. Just jump in, and you'll learn fast enough. Try this one. The rules are fairly simple in it compared to others. StKNES5

I suggest you join a couple though, plunge in at the deep end and you get a pretty good grip of things.

To join a Nes, look for a nation template on the first page, somewhere within the rules. It would look something like this.

Nation:
Player:
Capital:
Government:
Population:
Economy:
Education:
Age:
Army:
Navy:
UU:
Religion:
Culture:
Confidence:
Projects:

Just copy and paste the Nes' nation template in a post, editing in your nation's name, capital, ruler (a.k.a you), etc. and post. In some Nes', you may just have to choose a nation from a list.

Say I am running a NES (not here, private)....but how do I calculate battles...winning, loosing, etc?

Depends on a variety of factors...

Terrain, How preciace the battle orders were, Tactics used, training and troops ammounts. Stuff like that. Use common sense.
