Alright, after trying to edit Japan pixel by pixel I got pretty fed up with that map. I decided to try and find something better and after finding a spiffy PDF map I was able to piece this together from screenshots. All it needs is the latitude and longitude lines and national borders wiped, and heavy-island areas (like the South Alaskan coast) need to be tuned up, along with a lot of tiny pacific islands. I'm really digging the thin land borders though. And the accuracy.
I dunno, maybe in the interior, but one of the best parts about the thiner land borders is costal cities will be a lot easier to place realistically. That seemed like a really big problem in places like Japan. Pro/con I suppose.
What might be of some benefit is since the lat/long lines are still in place is they can be temporarily extended over the land for better river placement, if that gets done before oceans are wiped. National borders could help with that too.
I went ahead and coloure din the seas and all that, but I elected to leave the nation borders, and the lines of Latitude/Longitude, because they can help with river placement.
france-shmance, its more evocative of the deep ocean, and a better guag eof whatthe Oceans color is from Orbit for soem reason, i think Only Insane Panda will be the one to shed any real tears over it
