For one, I'm saying that because around here doing something is self-validating ex post facto, and nobody else but me--including yourself--has raised any significant objections to that, I choose to exercise that right.
And for two, it isn't illogical at all. Our current map storage system is total crap. Maps are strewn across at least three map threads and riddled throughout three more alternate-history threads, plus all the ones that exist but somehow don't wind up in either. It's a disaster. Maybe you haven't noticed but people are constantly asking about this, that, or the other thing as far as a time period or map type.
The obvious answer is centralization for easy access and reference. I have decided to implement that. It requires either killing this thread, or asking a moderator to update the front page every time a new map is completed. You tell me which is easier. I think you'll find it was the same choice I made.
And for the record, the first map thread was killed for no apparent reason at 350 posts, and the second at 560. So in that regard there's nothing unusual about this either.
