Funny how the other coalition is led by persia. I still find it hard to believe a nation 7 yrs ago was in ruins is now commanding former super powers and more

But they ARE the leaders. Or they act like it.

btw, how often is it that a mod changes the order or don't heed the order of a player on the battlefield? This q is directed toward everyone.

Sultan Kalim was dead, or a prisoner of Persia. The Ottoman Empire, which had withstood so much, was utterly broken.

Tasan Kemal despaired as his fellow Turks resigned themselves to the sight of Persian troops in Constantinople. The Ottomans were dead, but the Turks were still very much alive.

Kemal had been in charge of the defenses of Edirne, until it collapsed into anarchy. He refused to fight his own people as they vied for the control of a dead nation. In the chaotic weeks after the fall of his city, Kemal had travelled around the wreak of his people's homeland, gathering his own supporters along with his remaining army. But he would not continue the war against Persia like the desperate fools who remained in control. He would do what was good for Turkey.

After 3 months, he had gathered enough support. He had fought off the shards of the former Ottoman army, and was possibly the only power remaining. His gamble would either pay off or end his life, and the life of Turkey.

For Ardashir IV, Shah of Persia

My name is Tasan Kemal. I am, as far as I know, the last Ottoman who wields any power at all. I have a force of several thousand men behind me, but I do not wish to continue the fight with your nation.

What I wish for is the survival of the nation of Turkey. I will have my people stop their struggle against Persia forever, if Turkey, heart of the old Ottoman Empire, is to remain independent. We wish to keep Anatolia plus Istanbul and Edirne. The rest of our dead Empire, you may do with as you wish.

I hope most deeply that you will appreciate this offer.

Sincerely,
Tasan Kemal

Note: Roughly modern Turkey's borders.

From: Shah Ardashir IV
To: Tasan Kemal

I once fought a man named Allashir Kemal. Twice, I offered him the Sultanate of the Ottoman Empire. And twice, he refused. The man was a brilliant general, and a wise tactician. In addition, he was loyal to Kalim, until the death. He defeated my generals in Arabia, Palestine, and almost retook Constantinople itself. He died by my sword, and neither I nor he held any regrets.

It is brave that one such as you will stand up for the Turkish people. I am tempted to muster my generals, and crush your pathetic shard of a rebellion.

But I will not, for two reasons. The first is that Persia will not subjugate a noble people that wish to be free. If I did so, Persia would be no better than the Federate dogs we fight.

And the second is this: Any man with the gall to write to me, asking to rule a nation, despite having no chance of victory...is truly a patriot, and just.

One such as yourself, in fact.

If you agree to declare war on the Federated Kingdoms and her allies, if you agree to our Balkan partitions, if you sign an Alliance with Persia and allow her troops free access to Turkey...

Then we will allow Turkey to survive.

OOC: The Greeks still get their ethnic lands near Smyrna, however.

Proclamation of the Hungarian Government Concerning the Former Ottoman State

Whereas the recent collapse of the Ottoman Empire has left a number of significant questions on the doorsteps of the nations of Europe and Asia, this Government feels it only proper that they be addressed in a timely manner. Of foremost importance to the Hungarian Kingdom is the question of the future security and freedom of the Transylvania. With the elimination of centralized authority, it is probable that all such distant reaches of the former Ottoman realm will fall into dangerous anarchy, and threaten the lives and welfare of the peoples who reside within them. As Transylvania is accurately a region of Historical Hungary, and one which possesses quite a number of ethnic Magyars, the Kingdom of Hungary hereby proposes to ensure the safety, security, and continued welfare of that territory by offering it immediate and friendly annexation. Under the auspices of this State, Transylvania will be safe and free. The second matter of import to this Government is the safety of the former Ottoman administration. It is important to establish and reinforce the historical precedent of the inviolability of diplomats and ministers of state; and whereas we find it impossible to trust the bloodlusting Persians with the welfare of the fallen ministers and crown heads of the Empire, Hungary hereby proposes to accept them as guests-at-court, in the same manner in which His Majesty Lajos III received the former ministers of France. Therefore, Hungary declares the Court of Budapest open as a sanctuary to all state ministers, regional governors, commissioned officers, and royal heads of the defunct Ottoman Empire.

It's playing IC too.

And now I'll have an easier to run nation, as the majority of my people will be Turks. :p

OOC: This is the only partition map that we will accept.

The purple nation is Croatioslavia. The orange nation is Bulgaria. The yellow nation is Rumania. And the green nation is Greece, obviously.

The Kingdom of Turkey will recognize all these states as sovereign entities.

Turkey, Persia, Croatioslavia, Greece, Rumania, and Bulgaria will sign an Alliance, to be known as the Balkan Pact. All six nations will declare war on the Federated Kingdoms and her allies.

All Balkan Pact nations will freely allow other Balkan Pact nation soldiers to pass through their territory. No war between Pact members is tolerated.

Again, these are the only conditions that we will accept. Persia may also require funding to rebuild our economy, and as compensation from Greece and Croatioslavia, whose rebellions we facilitated, but this will be determined at a later time.

This is the Treaty of Athens. It establishes the Balkan Pact, dissolves the Ottoman Empire officially, and creates the aformentioned nations.

Any attempt by the Kingdom of Hungary to extend it's authority over former territory of the Ottoman Empire will result in unlimited and unending war between all Balkan Pact members and the Hungarian state.

As for "fallen ministers and crown heads," the Sultan and his Council have been put to death. Any lower government officials are to be granted pardon, if they have committed no atrocites against Persians or their allies.

There are no Old Believers in this world, silver2039 - there were no Nikonian Reforms, and as a matter of fact no Nikon.

So that means that Russia was never isolated enough for ideological diffrences to occur between the Greek Orthodox and Russian Orthdox teachings or was it that they did occur but no one cared?

Who do I persecute, oppress, and heavily tax now?
