A closer look at the Portugese Republic.
The Citizen
The ordinary citizen plays an important part in the Portugese Republic. This is a native born Portugese Male, who has not been to Prison, and is over 18. This also is a white male, as there are no slaves, but Blacks and Women still not may vote. This may happen in the future though.
Voting Time
When it's time to elect someone to a poistion, be it a mayor, or Legislators, it's usually done at the City Hall. The citizens will gather in the largest building in any well off city, and vote for what they have come for.
The voting usually consists of speechs by various canidates, and the men slipping their votes in predesignated areas. They are then counted by two people who have no offiliation to any party, and under supervision.
The things the citizen votes for is Councilmen.
Councilmen
Theese are men elected by the city's citizen population. There is one Councilmen for every 1000 Citizens in a city (NOTE: Not just the huge ones, but the smaller ones as well) The CouncilMen elect Mayors. They serve a 4 year period and may be re-elected an unlimited number of itmes.
Mayors
Mayors are representatives of a city and or community. There is always just one mayor, regardless of the city's population. The mayors of cities gather at Lisbon to vote for Senators. They serve a 3 year period and can be re-elected 3 times.
Senators
Senators number 10. Each Mayor gets one vote for one Senator. A Senator is the main voice of the goverment. They can propose laws and such. They serve a 2 year period and can be re-elected 4 times.
The Senator's Job
The Senators can propose bills, to be passed to the highest level of the government, Judicaries. They also can vote for war or not, the only power that the Judicatories do not have.
Judicaries
Judicaries number 5. They are elected by Senators to a 5 year term with no re-elects. They carry on every other job of the government such as censuses, diplomacy, inner affairs, et cetera.
The King
There is only one King. It is purely Hereditary, and it is also purely there for Culutral Purposes, the King may of course be a citizen and rise up, but he doesnt have any political power unless he does so.
