Update 5 - Year 1865

Non-Military Events:

Provisional Californian government introduces the draft (+10 divisions, -1 Army Training, -1 Confidence). They still have lots of trouble raising troops, taking into account the quite limited manpower reserves (-5 divisions).

An education boom in Sweden has improved the quality of leadership (+1 Civilian, Military Leadership), but also increased the skepticism of the masses towards the government (-1 Confidence). The Swedes also loosen their hold on the Russian cities and made judicial reforms that provided for independent local courts (-1 Centralization).

Intense drilling techniques and very rigid standards are introduced in New Prussian forces (+1 Army Training, -2 divisions); more people are mobilized for the war, perhaps too many for the nascent Prussian economy (-1 Confidence, -1 Economy, +15 divisions). Attempts to merge with the Stralsund Reichstag went unsuccesfully, though - the Reichstag agrees to recognize the New Prussian independence, but maintains that it is a separate faction.

The Imperial army officially adopts the relatively-new "Becher rifle", [1] a bolt-action gun previously employed by a few companies of Junker and pro-Reichstag rebels, mass-producing and distributing it among the troops. Though the soldiers didn't have much time to get acquinted with their new weapons (-1 Army Training), the sudden technologic edge acquired by this massive upgrading has turned the tide (see military events)...

Polish efforts manage to rectify the situation in the eastern provinces somewhat, as agriculture recovers (+Kiev trade center) and lots of money is made on grain exports (+1 Economy). Nobody quite understands as to what exactly did the king mean when he proposed "agricultural industrialization", so the Sejm vetoed that for now; it also protested heavily the cutting of diplomatic relations with HRE and the Ottoman Empire, but the king. A military coup almost takes place, but due to treachery in the ranks of the conspirators, it is prevented.

Imperial advisors surround Tsar Alexius of Muscovy, much to the alarm of the common folk and the nobility alike. Their worst fears soon became true - not only did the Tsar allow the Imperials to interfere with the work of the local buerocracy and diverted resources to the construction of factories and the adoptation of new German weapon designs, but he also created an unit called the "Lieb Guard", which has some rather disturbing, for the Muscovite elite, parallels with the Kaiser Friedrich IV's Sturmtruppen. Finally, he also angered the Church by siding up with the reformist neo-Nestjazhatelyi sect, which believed that the Church should be forced to pay taxes and be stripped of most worldly possessions (+1 Economy, +1 Education, -2 Confidence). So it was only natural that a coup was attempted, but it was put down in blood, and Alexius commenced a reign of terror unseen since the days of Ivan IV to stomp out all opposition decisively. Although he may not have restored the oprichnina itself, he did restore the oprichniki, who proceeded to publically execute traitors, spies and innocent (yeah, right...) bystanders as well. The oprichniki eventually got rather overexcited and begun killing sometimes on suspicion alone; before Alexius could curb them, they killed off lots of aristocrats, buerocrats and officers (-1 Civilian, Military Leadership). On the other hand, nobody is likely to even try overthrowing Alexius now, and those who survived this little reign of terror (which continued actually, but to a rather smaller extent) were personally grateful to their saviour, Alexius (+1 Confidence)...

Through adroit diplomacy combined with the virtual elimination of the Portuguese influence with the colonial empire that provided it (see military orders), the Federates strenghthened their positions in Africa considerably. Local French and Polish colonial authorities tried to counter this, and managed to get some peaceful expansion of their own, but will need government backing to actually get much of anything done. Finally, several particularily Europhobe Muslim tribes in West Africa, fearful that the Europeans will bring them war and destruction, pledged their allegience to Tukulor (+5 irregular divisions).

More Merina tribes send troops to fight the French (+5 irregular divisions).

As was predicted, the Uzbek city of Turtkul became, with the assistance of the central Dalnorossian government in Vasyagansk, a trade center, in part thanks to the proximity of rich agricultural areas and the flourishing of crafts in the city itself (+Turtkul Economic Center).

The Siamese government succesfully (sort of - they didn't gain as much as they had intended, as the people aren't used to this sort of stuff yet) encourages the merchants to invest into the Kra Canal (+1 project progress). It also signs a contract with the East Indies Railroad Company, according to which the latter is obliged to build a nation-wide railroad in Siam within five years. Work has already begun...

Slowly, but surely, more and more French colonists move to Nouvelle Gaulle, as small deposits of gold have indeed been discovered.

Military Events:

The French finally get their act together in California, sort of (assassinations of officers continue and even intensify, however - this has been noticed in the other rebel areas as well (-1 Military Leadership), along with other nasty stuff such as poisoned wells, switched telegrams and explosions at supply depots). Albeit the Californians manage to besiege the French garrison at San Diego, that and the partially-succesful retreat from Rio Grande were all of the good news for the Californian rebels. With the introduction of the draft on one side and the French promises to take care of Californian grievances on the other, the Sacramento government's popularity sinks (-1 Confidence). The isolated Californian forces in Baja soon surrendered outright - the French relief of San Diego and the new naval blockade caused them to run out of supplies. Having adopted a few changes to the original plan, the French launched a coastal offensive, advancing with naval support and taking coastal and nearby valley cities group-by-group. Now the Californians were the ones out of supplies, as until now they were getting most weapons and ammunition from abroad and now this was practically impossible. As the war effort became obviously doomed, mass-desertion has started as entire Californian armies melted away. On July 25th 1865, the city of Sacramento fell after a week-long siege. That was the last organized resistance the French have received, though the die-hard Californian separatists retreated into the mountains and continued raiding army positions.

(-Californian Rebels as a faction, -7 French divisions, -6 French Garde Imperiale divisions)

The continued guerrila warfare and harrasment proved to be insufficient against the French armee in Mexico as well. A three-pronged attack secured Acapulco, with the Mexican government only barely escaping eastwards, and Veracruz was captured soon after. As a limited offensive in the east commenced as well, the Mexican army was crushed between the two French forces and the Mexican Rising was, officially, over, although Vicente Guerrero himself hasn't been found anywhere yet and although guerrila resistance continues.

(-Mexican Rebels as a faction, -5 French divisions, -4 French Garde Imperiale divisions)

However, the French forgot about the Mayan rebels in Yucatan, who by now have acquired a certain degree of centralized control and are preparing to defend their lands even as I am typing this...

The Portuguese finished off the Imperials in Neugranada rather easily, and succesfully negotiated treaties of alliance with some of the inland Amerind tribes; the Spanish segments of the urban population, still a majority in fact, also welcomed the Portuguese as liberators. But all that did little to help the Portuguese - the Sapa-Inca managed to get some sort of an agreement with the Kaiser, and, worse still, the Federated Kingdoms have honoured their guarantee of independence for the HRE. And so, the Portuguese soon came under attack. First, pro-Incan rebellions commenced in southern Neugranada (+10 Incan irregular divisions), while a naval blockade cut the Portuguese troops off from their lines of communications with Portugal itself, though not with Brazil ofcourse. Immediately after that, the Incans crossed the border and outmaneuvered the Portuguese army there, which was misled by the Incan-sent "native guides" into several ambushes. The exhausted, outnumbered Portuguese force had the dubious honour of being the first regular European army to be crushed in open battle by the Amerinds, at Puyo. Black Ghost corps, meanwhile, struck at the Portuguese supply routes and secured some of the garrison-less Amazon rainforest. Imperial forces eventually landed at Tucacas, assisting the main Federate seaborne invasion, which at first cut off the Portuguese from what little supplies they were still getting and threw them into the jungle, and then forced their surrender.

(-5 Incan divisions, -1 Incan Black Ghost corps, -7 Incan irregular divisions, -4 Federate divisions, -1 Federate UU, -17 Portuguese divisions)

The main Federate strike came further south, though - they invaded Brazil, operating from Guinea, the Plate, Neugranada (at later stages) and ofcourse the Brazilian port cities seized immediately. Albeit the Portuguese managed to raise local militias and otherwise organize the resistance in this populous region (+15 irregular divisions), the sheer power of the well-armed, well-trained, well-led Federate invaders, combined with the sudden upsurge in (probably Federate- or Imperial-sponsored) bomb attacks, sabotage, assassinations and other such stuff, have allowed the Federates to secure almost the entirety of Brazil, with only a few pockets of resistance holding out. The regular Portuguese forces were practically annihilated, and guerrila warfare is the last thing the Brazilians have left to use against the Federate invaders.

(-8 Federate divisions, -3 Portuguese divisions, -9 Portuguese irregular divisions)

Just before all of the above, the Federates ensured that their operations go unhindered by amassing most of their vast naval forces and eliminating almost the entire Portuguese fleet in three battles - at Devil's Hole [2], Trinidad and Guayaquil Gulf. All the Portuguese island possessions in the Atlantic were "confiscated" as well, in the aftermath.

(-7 Federate squadrons, -38 Portuguese squadrons)

Two large military campaigns - the Western and the Eastern - have decided the fates of Germany this year. First, in the east, the Swedo-Prussians have decided to use rivers for supply - and in one case, naval artilery support - purposes, and picked different rivers. The Prussians went by the Saale, the Swedes went by the Elbe... and outmaneuvered the Imperials, taking Prague and preventing them from crossing the river into Brandenburg. The Prussians were much less lucky - the bulk of their forces was surrounded at Weimar and after a fierce battle was forced to capitulate. The Prussians tried to organize some defenses at Dresden, but were trapped there by the more mobile Imperials and crushed. The road to Berlin seemed open, but the Swedish general Roald Wrangel withdrew from Prague under enemy pressure at the moment and proceeded to cut off the Imperial supply routes. Though some hard-won gains had to be abandoned by the Swedes, a complete disaster was avoided as the Imperials had to retreat westwards. For now.

For in the West, things went differently. Though the Imperials acted too hastily - giving new weapons to their troops with only the minimum of re-training, launching an offensive with only partual preparedness - it all paid out in the end, as the Swedish forces were only preparing to strike when they themselves came under attack. This forced them to launch the "Golden Offensive", so-called for the yellow banner of its executor, before preparing properly. The other - "Black" - army, meanwhile, instead of starting a false retreat was forced to flee for its life under the concentrated blows of the Imperials. Although the Golden Army managed to secure the industrial Rhineland region, it was soon cut off from its supply routes, as the other Swedish forces were only holding out to the east of the Elbe and on the North Sea coast. When the Golden Army tried to break out eastwards, it was intercepted and crushed, with only a small contingent heroically limping back over the Elbe. It was followed by the bulk of the Imperial forces, from both campaigns. By the end of the year, Berlin was besieged once more and the Imperial forces evidently on the brink of victory.

(-13 Swedish divisions, -12 Swedish Berserker divisions, -2 Swedish irregular divisions, -17 Prussian divisions, -14 Imperial divisions, -6 Imperial Sturmtruppen divisions, -2 Imperial irregular divisions)

Meanwhile, the Italians, using the Imperial distraction, incited a rebellion in Venice and quickly overran the small Imperial garrison there, taking the city. Before the Imperials could stop them using natural defenses and makeshift forts alike, the Italian forces have secured some Imperial territory as well, possibly to be used as a bargaining card.

(-2 Imperial divisions, -6 Italian divisions)

While the Swedes were busy fighting in Germany, Alexius I of Muscovy decided to test out his new army. During the Time of Troubles and later the collapse of Poland, several Russian territories, most notably the ancient city of Novgorod, ended up in Swedish hands. During the rule of Nicholas I, the Muscovites have in particular tried to incite a rebellion in Novgorod, but all they managed to get were some widespread disturbances. But now, with the Swedish forces far away and the reign over the region relaxed and partially put in the hands of the Russians themselves, an opportunity to strike was clearly at hand (some historians also cite Alexius' Germanophilia and the friendly relations he and his ancestors had fostered with the Holy Roman Empire). So when the massive Muscovite army surrounded Novgorod, it didn't even have to wait for the humongous "Gorlorez" super-cannon. The local veche, recently assembled by the Swedes, surrendered the city without a fight, and due to Swedish carelessness, there was nobody at all left to stop them. From there, a part of the Muscovite army marched west to retake Pskov and lay siege to the vital Swedish fortress of Noteborg, and another part, with the help of local volunteers and some Finnish-Karelian rebels (+5 Muscovite irregular divisions), invaded Swedish Finland-Karelia itself. Muscovite supply situation was quite poor, but on the other hand the first serious resistance has been encountered at Noteborg, and its walls were torn down by the "Gorlorez". After resting and regroupping, and taking advantage of the well-developed Swedish infrastructure, the Muscovites pressed on further, besieging Helsingfors and Riga, and seizing several other cities. By then, resistance grew - the people of these regions were far less pro-Muscovite, and also were disgusted by Tsar Alexius' methods, at home and abroad (+5 Swedish irregular divisions). But in spite of this and of some Swedish reinforcements, Estonia and Livonia were also eventually overran.

(-3 Swedish divisions, -3 Swedish irregular divisions, -5 Muscovite divisions, -2 Muscovite Lieb Guard divisions, -2 Muscovite irregular divisions)

Going back to our Federates, they have also taken out the colonies in Africa, with some help from Sokoto and Turkey. Specifically, the Sokotans took over much of the Portuguese Equatorial Guinea, without encountering too much resistance apart from the militiamen and small garrisons in Henrique (the economic center in the Niger delta). The Federates didn't have many problems outside of Morocco (where there actually was a garrison, and where, after the Federate invasion, tribal violence has begun with the Berbers using the disappearence of Portuguese reign to resume killing each other instead). Mozambique was even turned over to the Federates and the Ottomans without a shot being fired, as the entire colonial administration defected. The Portuguese king [3] doesn't seem to be awfully popular anywhere at all, not even in Portugal itself (-1 Confidence).

(-1 Portuguese division, -1 Sokotan division)

The French overrun much of Madagascar, apart from the northernmost regions and a few isolated pockets of resistance elsewhere. Queen Ranavalona perished while defending Tananarive (although ofcourse some rumours speak otherwise), but someone is still coordinating the resistance, to a certain extent ofcourse.

(-5 Merina divisions, -2 Merina Battle Engineer brigades, -2 Merina irregular divisions, -4 French divisions)

The Ottoman Empire... survives.

(see spotlight)

(-1 Ottoman Culture, 1 Ottoman Eco. Level to Persia, 1 Ottoman Eco. Level to Egyptian Rebels, +10 Ottoman irregular divisions, +5 Persian irregular divisions, +5 Egyptian irregular divisions, +10 Dalnorossian irregular divisions)

(-11 Ottoman divisions, -9 Ottoman Guard divisions, -7 Ottoman irregular divisions, -2 Dalnorossian divisions, -1 Dalnorossian Uragannaya Konnitsa division, -3 Dalnorossian irregular divisions, -7 Persian divisions, -2 Persian Engineering Corps, -3 Persian irregular divisions, -2 Egyptian divisions, -3 Egyptian irregular divisions)

In a desperate last-moment counter-attack, the Hitsuji Emperor personally took charge of the Japanese rebel forces and led them south, while his uncle's fleet launched suicidal "kamikaze" fireship attacks on the Chinese navy; meanwhile, incited by Hitsuji's agents, the Japanese people in Chinese-held territory rose up en masse (+10 irregular divisions). At first, the Chinese were forced to retreat - the surprise effect and the way the enemy seemed everywhere has caused the Chinese commanders to panic. But as they recovered and as naval communications were restored with the end of the kamikaze, the Chinese, with new reinforcements, begun restoring order. Rebels were rooted out, and those of them that survived, along with all who granted them shelter, were herded into temporary containment camps. Meanwhile, further north, the Hitsuji Emperor was stopped, defeated and killed just outside of Edo. The rebellion collapsed, and refugees fled for Dalnorossian territory en masse (and the stream didn't yet end - by the time it dies down, the Dalnorossians are likely to benefit much from all the educated cadres fleeing for their lands); this and the devastation of Japan Proper has caused the flourishing of Dalnorossian commerce here (+Hakodate economic center).

(-Japanese Empire as a faction, -13 Chinese divisions, -17 Chinese squadrons)

Random Events:

The Federated Kingdoms declare war on Portugal, amidst a general wave of jingoism and patriotism (+1 Federate Culture). A general economic boom also takes place throughout the FK (+1 Economy).

Incan Empire of Peru redeclares war on Portugal as well, in solidarity with the FK; volunteers flow to join the army (+5 divisions). Meanwhile, the Industrial Revolution reaches the Empire fully, with government reforms and foreign specialists to speed it up (Middle Industrial Age to Incan Peru!).

A flourishing of state-backed liberalism takes place in Sweden, reinforcing the new Riksdag's prestige as well as that of the king (+1 Confidence).

A general rise of Muscovitan patriotism takes place (+1 Culture). Foreign specialists are used in large amounts, especially in the sphere of military (+1 Military Leadership).

Polish agriculture is beginning to recover (+1 Economy).

A Bourbon prince, Louis-Philippe, comes to power in Hungary, albeit as a constitutional monarchy (+1 Confidence).

More divisions are raised for the Siamese army (+5 divisions), and measures are taken to bring the training levels up to standards (+1 Army Training).

Corruption grows in the Italian government (-1 Civilian Leadership).

The new government system in Poland still isn't functioning the best it could; a buerocratic error hinders an important project (-1 project progress). The damage done to the eastern provinces by the abolition of serfdom causes a resurgence of the Autonomist movement (-1 Culture).

Continued military opportunism of the Portuguese king frightens the ruling elite and the masses alike (-1 Confidence).

Old grudges between Merina tribes are being remembered once more (-1 Culture).

The military defeats on numerous fronts damage Sultan Kalim's popularity (-1 Confidence).

Spotlight:

The Turkish War.

"The best-laid plans of mice and men..."
- Unknown [4].

During the winter of 1864, many plans were laid for the coming year. Ottomans, for example, planned to help destroy the Portuguese colonial empire and to make Turkey an even more potent player on the board of the Indian Ocean. Persians planned to destroy the Ottoman Empire, confident of their forces and of their allies alike. Dalnorossians planned to retake the Volga River. On conspirational quarters all over the Ottoman Empire, brigands and freedom fighters (though what is the difference, really?) were planning their moves as well, in many cases aware that something big was going to happen soon. Nobody knew quite what were Poland and Hungary planning; and none could guess what the unpredictable Muscovite Tsar intended to do now. For the record, the latter three didn't participate in the eventual Turkish War, that begun just as the Ottoman fleet with a large portion of the Ottoman Army set out southwards.

The first move was made by Persians, or more specifically Persian spies. Though the Turks have learned of their existance in their territory a while ago, they only found out that the Persians actually were as audacious as to actually plant saboteurs in Constantinople itself when it was too late to do anything about it. Several loud explosions have destroyed much of the High Porte and killed several family members. But the main target - Sultan Kalim - survived, although his hand had to be amputated [5]. So this attack served no purpose at all, apart from causing a brief period of panic in Constantinople and making Kalim and by extension the Ottoman population very, very mad at the Persians. The Sultan himself swore, perhaps rather rashly, to wipe out the the Safavids to the last man.

A day later, rebellions in Arabia (Wahhabite) and Iraq (Shiite) begun. Just like was planned, or almost so anyway - the Ottoman Guards managed to hold on to some ground, especially in Iraq where the rebels failed to take Baghdad, but that was compensated by the fact that they weren't really supposed to (or, at least, that it wasn't a vital part of the Grand Plan). And then, the Persians themselves entered the war. Mustafa struck straightforwardly towards Baghdad, to draw Ottoman attention there... and accidentally, overwhelmed the outnumbered garrison, in part thanks to the panic of its commander who quite reasonably deduced that its not very easy to sustain a siege in a city where most people hate you, and happen to have somehow acquired weapons. Ardashir, upon learning of this, ordered a few minor adjustments to the plan, guessing that the Turks will try to attack Mustafa while he's in Baghdad from the north and the south, and... when the Turks did, both of their groups were outflanked and crushed by Malik's northern offensive and Suleiman's southern one. Aizerbadjan, Eastern Armenia, Luristan, and ofcourse Iraq, were quickly overran by the Persians, who encountered only the minimal of resistance and a large degree of population support. And finally, the al-Hasa province in eastern Arabia, a region of much religious value for the Shiites, defected without a shot being fired (the Ottoman Guards being redeployed to defeat the Wahhabi rebels).

What was the problem with all of this for the Persians? Well, it was too easy. As was, to be entirely honest, the Dalnorossian part. It was even easier, to be entirely honest - the Ottomans didn't put up much of a resistance, being surprised and outflanked, while the Tartars were undisciplinned and poorly-armed and thus easily crushed. The absence of an expected Muscovite attack on the Ottoman Empire (after all, the Muscovites DID blow up a fortress) forced the Dalnorossians to go with a much less ambitious version of their plan, so they just seized Volga, built some fortifications to the west of it, politely forced all the Muslims out of the occupied territory and after taht resorted to hit-and-run attacks.

The Wahhabite Arabs, meanwhile succesfully took over Hejjaz. The Turks didn't bother putting enough guards there neither.

After the Francophilic mercantile, intellectual and aristocratic elite of Egypt actually declared independence AND got away with it, any reasonable military commander could safely say that the Turks were planning something, that this all was a trap, a deception, an attempt to lure the anti-Turkish forces Just Where The Ottomans Want Them (yes, with the capital letters)! But truth was that most of the Ottoman army and fleet was away, invading a garrison-less Portuguese colony that surrendered without a shot being fired. Talk about overkill, and about its potentially-negative consequences.

Still scared by their success, the Persians watched by idly as the opportunity to end the war in one stroke was slowly fleeing their hands. They advanced slowly, carefully, cautiously - too cautiously. The only real progress made after the fall of Yerevan in early June was the seaborne invasion of the unprotected and revolting Oman, which embraced the Persians gladly. Only when, later in the year, the first Slavic and Georgian rebellions commenced, the Persians finally decided to press on.

But by then, Ottoman forces were being redeployed from elsewhere, most importantly - from Africa and from the Balkans (where they wiped the floor with the local Slavs for the lack of a centralized leadership and the presence of a fairly large Turkish garrison), to the fronts. A three-pronged invasion pushed the Arabs out of Hejjaz, the advance of the Egyptian rebel forces was stopped at Dongola, the Dalnorossian raids that grew ever more far-reaching and powerful were suddenly almost stopped, and the Persians suffered their first defeat at the war - at Kars. And though the subsequent Turkish eastwards offensive didn't gain much ground, the tide was definitely being turned now, especially as an ambitious young Turkish general, Alishir Kemal, proved his worth by leading an expedition across the Arabian desert to the very center of the Wahhabite rebellion, Riyadh - the Arabs reacted too late, and many of their leaders perished or were forced to flee into different direction, depraving the rebels of centralized command.

For all the plans of the anti-Turkish forces, for all their luck and early successes, for all their gains, they didn't coordinate their actions well enough, and were too cautious. A few mistakes was all it took to give the Ottoman Empire, which by all laws of logic should have otherwise be even more doomed than it came out to be, a fighting chance. But the Turks themselves weren't much better here - they lost several crucial territories due to practically throwing away a large army where it turned out to be almost useless. The decisive battles are yet to come, it seems...

NPC Diplo:

From: Riksdag
To: Swedish king

We MUST begin peace negotiations, with HRE and with Muscovy.

From: Italy
To: Holy Roman Empire

We request that you officially renounce all and any claims on the city of Venice and certain outlying territories (OOC: the Italians want something like the OTL pre-1914 border; if you haven't noticed, even with Venice they are missing a small amount of land from that). In exchange, we will pledge neutrality and withdraw from the rest of your territory.

From: Egyptian Rebels
To: France

We ask for your assistance against the vile Turkish tyrants!

OOC:

Btw, Harleqin, I keep forgetting to point that out... The rulers, like in the real Incan Empire, are the only ones called Incas; the people are called the Quechua or, as is increasingly more widespread, the Peruvians.

Also, Contempt, just realized that in your story, your king is said to be of the House Bernadotte... Do note that there was no French Revolution and stuff in this world. The Bernadottes are loyal French subjects and in fact a branch of them is in charge of the French "Terra Australis Company" (the one responsible for colonizing Nouvelle Gaulle and the lesser islands nearby).

BananaLee, no income tax in Siam right now. Not all the European nations have that yet, actually!

Finmaster, as I said before, you need to invest money into the project for it to advance...

Sorry about the spotlight - both about the delays, and the way it came out. Happens, I guess.

[1] The Becher Rifle is rather similar to OTL Dreyse Rifle, but is somewhat more advanced and thus could also be compared to the OTL Chassepot.

[2] The one in the North Sea, ofcourse.

[3] The poor fellow already did so much, MjM, can't you give him a name for all of his troubles or something?

[4] Polar bears smuggled Robert Burns' poems into the NES2 V world, but left them anonymous to confuse the penguins. Muwhahaha.

[5] A hand for a hand, Iggy, if you understand what I mean. ;)

Here it is. A bit anticlimatic, if you ask me...

Great update das! although i'm little disappointed with my gains but oh well, one can't have everything :D

btw, i hope you will do those backgrounds later...

From: Persia
To: Ottomans

Your forces have been defeated in battle. Your people are weary, and your nation needs to rebuild and consolidate. We have achieved our aims of the liberation and uniting of the Shiite people. As such, we are willing to negotiate peace.

If you refuse, we have no other choice than to continue a war that will reduce your nation to Turkey alone.

Here are our terms:

1. All current gains of the Holy Islamic Kingdom of Persia are recognised as soverign Persian Territory.

2. The Ottoman Empire will cede to Dalnorossia whatever land Dalnorossia deems fit to serve as a Georgian and Armenian homeland.

3. The Ottoman Empire will grant the Kingdom of Egypt independence. The Kingdom will be under a French Protectorate, for the duration of as long as France sees fit. The Ottoman Empire will retain Sinai, so as to maintain access to it's African colonies, perhaps by means of some Canal or other device.

4. The Ottoman Empire will cede to France the territory of Libya.

5. The Ottoman Empire will cede to Persia the Island of Socotra, and the northern section of the Horn of Africa, to serve as naval bases.

6. Persia will pay the Ottoman Empire one economy level to pay for all damages and ceded territory.

7. A 10 year N.A.P and Defensive Pact is to be signed by all three independent Muslim nations, Egypt, Persia, and the Ottoman Empire, to form a new, Muslim Alliance.

We sincerely hope you agree. Now that our natural borders have been rectified, the Ottoman Empire would do well to accept peace with honor.

Allahu Akbar!

Wow Thlayli, my peace overture was a tad more generous, and asked for considerably less  also i don't think you can transfer ecomony levels only cash...

btw You currently control most of the Georgian and Armenian lands, we'll loan them some compensation to pay you if you wish (get rid of some troublesome christians after all).

Well how can we make it just tempting enough? Lets put an end to the bloodshed. (though from the update there have been remarkable little casualities). After all we keep our word,
