NES2 VI - Last Semblance of Order.

He wasn't sponsored by our government, he is just a Missionary from our land... duh. I'm not trying to go to war with Portugal, I;m trying to increase my popularity and spread Catholicism

I will always be loyal to France, but I also need to still be King, you know, damn politics;)

I was actually trying to reach out the the Catholic base by being a forming member of a Catholic League, have missions in Africa, and being crowned by the Pope... and other things to come!

That's a smart move, but don't alienate the people who aren't really religious... I remember upsetting a religious base once... :(

Thats why I asked Das, because i just completed my Total Catholicism project.:D

Yeah sure I'm most happy about Ireland conducting diplomacy with a bunch of rebells inside my territory. And I surely allowed you to do some missionizing in my colonies... Now we are big friends.

And this emporer is truely a clever guy. I guess he learned Portugese in the Academy of Zulania..

You don't want me to write another de Sousa story, do you?

Byzantines will send a delegation.

Krakow will not send a delegation due to the fact that it recognises the existance of a Zulu state by welcoming it.

From: Portugal
To: Krakow

We are honoured by your noble intentions! However I think there is a misunderstanding about the so-called 'Zulu Delegation'. France does not seriously consider allowing a delagation of some rebellious tribesmen to such an event. This is completly out of question. It would be a shame if you didn't send a delegation.

We do not recognize the Zulu state. We recognize that Zulu people exist, and, if they can find a way to Paris, then we'll welcome them. Lets just hope they arrent arrested by Portugese officials or anything ;) :mischief:. It is open to the public aswell, you know :p

But if the Germans want to stay in their backwater drinking beer and eating sausage, fine by us :p

We will then send a small delegation.

OOC:

Well, would it be possible to place the Pope as a Queen-like figure as modern Britain does, except the Pope having his popelike influences? And then just run the country as a slightly more holy Italy, ran by a different ruler (although Im not entirely sure of that leaders title)?

You could try, but this the people of Italy might accept rather less, while the church hierarchs will probably try to stage a coup even if the Pope himself goes down quietly.

I could have sworn that France was Protestant in this Alt-history...

No swearing, please. :p Some parts of it are, due to the non-revocation of the Edict of Nantes.

*Europeans tour the Zulu delegation's exhibition of their latest technological innovations*

"Yo, what's that?"

"We call it a stone. Surely you've seen it's ilk before."

"What?"

*sigh* Zulu thinks to self, stupid white men.

Heh. Sounds a bit like our (Russian) Chukcha jokes, which means that the Zulus, even if they lose, will yet pay a great service to the development of the Western Civilization, or at least of the Portuguese Joke.

Mpande sat on his thrown. The Irish missionary now slept in his tent guarded. Mpande had heard much on the matter. He held in his hand a bible now. He had been reading it all night. It truly was mesmorizing. His councilors had all joined the missionary down to the stream for their baptising yesterday. Mpande still did not want to jump to the idea of becoming a Catholic state. He needed the people on his side. A house divided could not stand. He turned to his texts. The other African nations to the north had abbandoned their brethren to die. The spirits had abandoned them.

Mpande felt the spirits breathed strongly through this man. He was wise and had seen much in his time. His men were outside waiting for a descision. He paced the room. He took the seeing stones and stick in his palm. Long had they helped him meditate. He closed his eyes and slowly dropped the contents. He said the holy chant then opened. There lay a cross surrounded by twelve stones. At the top lay a glass ones that shined on all the others. The holy cross, the twelve disciples, and the all seeing eye of providence.

His father had always told him that when he died his soul would show him the way. And his breath would morph these stones and sticks into messages. It was clearl before his eyes what he must do. He remembered his father's vision of a white rider coming down upon him and offering a hand.

Mpande remembered his father himself coming down to him in the hands of a kind man. A man who brought light and warmth. He had not known it at the time but God had spoken. It was time to tell the people

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nkosinathi[1] stoood in the crowd. He had long spoken with the mysterious man. He sat down polishing his rifle for war. He had came to hear the thoughts of the emperor. He now turned to the bluff where the Emperor stood. The emperor held above his head the bible. In the other the spear. He spoke.

"People of Africa. I send my message to all Africans to embrace this new power I hold. I am not demanding this of the people to accept a foreign custom. I am asking for people to open their arms. The Portuguese demand war and command people to abide by it. I however believe we should in turn embrace God and Jesus. The other African nations refuse to come to our aid. They do not believe in a unified Africa.

The pope believes in unification. He believes all catholics are all bound together in the endless cycle of life. We are all connected. The other African refuse to see us as brothers, the Catholic nation will. They will see us as brothers.

Many of you may believe Qwabe would never approve of such. Well, I thought deep and hard and consulted the seeing stones and sticks. They formed a cross, the twelve disciples of Jesus, and the all seeing eye of Providence. Qwabe has spoken to us to take this path. We now must all chose our paths. Do we forget Qwabe forever and run back to our fighting amongst eachother or do we unite under not only the Zulu banner but under Christ. Why should we let ourselves be divided.

We must unite. Qwabe himself, you all know, spoke of visions of a white rider and divine power that at the time could not understand. I tell you he saw Christ, and he embraced him with all his love. I know because he came to me with Jesus by his side and spoke to me to choose my path.

Now, we must never forget our past and our roots. If we were ever to do that I would cast myself from this cliff and plunge into the depths never to return. We must remember why we fight, where we come from, our honor, our glory, and sanctity. I am compelling you all to take and embrace God. Qwabe wanted us to be accepted. Jesus always will. I tell you we fight not only for Africa, but God now. I tell you we must see the divine power.

Let your hearts speak, let your cries be heard. Let Jesus know your pain. Let all the world know who you are. Never forget. Never surrender. We are people of God and Catholics. We are Africans. We are Zulu. We are a proud and Great people who can achioeve Great things. Stand and fight men of God."

The crowd erupted. People cheering Long live the Emperor. Long live God and Jesus. Men held upon staffs the cross. They waved flaggs. Men rode out in all directions to spread the Emperors and the Holy Trinities divine message.

People all over Africa rallied around a new figure now. They cried for the Emperor and Jesus. People saw the Catholic ways and prayed for the Pope. They all called a cheer for the Catholic Nation.

That night mobs would assault fifteen Protestant Portuguese churches. They would assualt town halls, armories, and troops. They wanted not only these freedom oppresors out. But they wanted the enemies of God out. This was a new war.
