NESLife attempt #3

Is getting rid of water retention a good idea? I think it's important for land animals, it lets them hold in water (humans retain a huge amount of water in themselves). I think you should keep it.

id argue with roots, it doesnt need to maintain its water.. plants indeed HAVE to be able to lose water through their leaves to drive the movement of nutrients etc through thier body

Regardless of that, grass is a new evolution, not the simplest of all plants. It only came about in the last few million years.

name changed :p

Lichen also aren't as you described them. :p Though you could admittedly be trying to spell Luncheon as well.

im hinting at lushness... i know what lichens are.. and i know a fair bit about evolution.. i have just completed a Zoology Degree ;)

So little makes "RL" sence, but is sticking to its own rules, i couldnt see why.. especially considering what lichens were supposed to develope from within this NES.

Try nearly a hundred million, but the point still stands that grasses are among the most complex and sophisticated of plants, and maybe he's mispelling everything deliberately.

@Abaddon, everyone knows the zoologists never do any work, but sit in the field s and drink (I remember my zoology modules well ;)).

an is not sitting in fields and drinking the most perfect of pasttimes? :p

Dam I shoulda been a zoologist!

Well my aim was for the most bog standard "plant" possible.. anyone think of a better version?

yesyes, but i meant genetically... what is moss in this game?

spores, basic water retention... photo synthesis.. no roots..

I'd say it depends on the climate. If there's plenty of rain, roots are more than sufficient. If not, then plants will need water retention.

No update tonight, im still finishing stuff off for my other NES!

About water retention... The way i want to handle this is to say a low level water retention thing is needed for all land plants. You could say its more like water-regulation etc, stuff which is harder when your not immersed in water all the time.

Then if you want to go further inland or into deserts etc, you need higher levels of water retention...

@Abaddon, ill keep water retention for your plant if thats ok

Leviathan: North King
Evolved from: Slithery
Genes (11): Plankton Eating x3, Swimming x2, Vibration Sense x1, Eyes x1, Pressure Resistance x1, Cold Resistance x1, Large Size x1, Skeleton x1
Description: Its sheer massive size is intimidating and powerful enough that only the most determined predators can bring it down. It has an endoskeleton to help support its structure and allow it stronger movement.

->

Juggernaut: North King
Evolved from: Leviathan
Gene added (max 2): Immune Systemx1, Circulatory Systemx1
Gene removed (optional, max 2): None
Description (optional): Very large and complex, the Juggernaut's size, like its ancestors, is enough to deter all but the most fearsome of predators. At the same time, it has developed a very efficient circulatory system in order to better support its size; blood now can be delivered to any part of the body very easily. It has also developed an immune system, focused mainly on fighting infection and destroying parasites; cells in the bloodstream destroy any foreign intruder. With this key development, the Juggernaut is mostly safe from danger, large or small.

@Daft.. not a problem ol chap.. just bear in mind i am trying to create the most basic "plant" possible for all to develope from.

Slightly astray, I wonder what genes Abaddon would have.

Decloak: If you're going to conjecture traits, this specimen remains vastly more interesting:
