um, where exactly would i put these files in order to use them in my civ3 conquests v1.22 game?

-Juballs

Instructions are included in the zip files.

Hi Juballs...
In each zip there is an install text just follow the instructions it is all pretty staightforward.

this is excellant!!! I am going to install this right now.........again good job keep up the good work!!!!!!!!!!

Great Job!!!
Can we by any chance have a complete plug and play zip file?
Just one that contains all the files, we unzip it in the proper directory, and there you go!!! ;)

I will soon make a single executable file with all the files in it.
The only problem is that some might just install without backing up.
Not to say the screens don't look good but after a while you may wish to go back to the old style.
Ill make up the exe when I get a little time soon.

Thanks Citizen .. by "mad" I assume you mean good :)

Can't wait to get this executable.
Don't worry about the old style; we could still recover them from the CD or whatever, or we could still back them up manually, provided there is a list of which files will be replaced.
In any case, who needs the old style?
;-)

Hy

Having some minor problems with the metal interface.

I have attached the things I think looks a bit odd.

Edit:

I think I fixed the eye icon by adding from the zip that someone included in this thread - and copying it to all the city screen folders.

The biggest issue is the tech screen as you can see. When mouseover, there is a nasty overlap :(

Also, did you redo the f4 infobox that I have appearing in beige?

Hi .....

Yes I see what you mean ...only happens on the mouseover.
Ill have a look into it.May be a transparency issue.

The beige trade tabs in the picture you posted have a metal replacement.

You should have the file in your ....
C:\Program Files\Infogrames Interactivef\Civilization III\Civ3PTW\Art\Advisors
folder.
It is called foreignTAB.pcx ...check to make sure it went to the right directory.

Just a quick note the new fully installing executable was finished tonight.
I will just delay posting it while we look into the techbox issue.
Thanks Guys
Eva

Thanks Eva,

I discovered that (since I use a different install path) I had placed some files in the wrong directory.

So the foreigntab should work now :)

when you make the executable - keep in mind that not all OSes are using program files as the main directory for program files.

in my case it was: c:\programfiler\....

Keep it up

I too have noticed the overlap thing but I have found this.....

and would suggest that once a single exe file is made of all aspects of this great mod then possible confusion over the installation would be reduced

as I have got this problem....

and one or two others :crazyeye:

Hi again.....

Yes it was a transparency error on my part.
I apologise to all who have had disappearing tech boxes.
Bit like my disappearing lunch box at work :)
I have corrected the error and have re-uploaded the advisor zip file with the corrected tech box graphic so just download it again fom post 1 or 31 and you will be fine.

OK .....
The new installer is completed with the corrected techbox ....
I still need to find the pcx files for the hall of fame , bugger me if I can find them.Anyone who can point them out will be great.
I am planning to release the installer in a brand new thread as well as link it to the 1st post of this thread. So look out for it.

Here are a couple of screen shots of the installer .....

It is complete with an uninstall function as well but obviously if you let it overwrite your files they will be uninstalled and the game rendered unusable.
So a backup list is included on one of the install screens.

For those not using a default path the option is available to choose your own.
Paalikles you might be my guinea pig on that to see if it works.

I still have not completed these controls yet.

Someone I think kindly posted a set they have made you may wish to use them.

Morgan : That button with "more civs" on is it that a custom mod you are using?.I have not come across that yet.

There are NO metal screens for the scenarios yet ..there are just so many of them but I will eventually get round to them and release them in a new installer.

Also I am planning to do the RAR TECH SCREENS soon for those who have messaged me.

Thats it for now....
Please keep posting bug reports and I'll fix them up ....

Thanks for all your support ..was nice to see the interface featured on the front page.

Morgan : That button with "more civs" on is it that a custom mod you are using?.I have not come across that yet.

It is when you are playing a game where there are more than a total of eight Civs and you use your foreign advisor screen to dispaly information about them. As the screen is limited to eight figureheads at a time you then get that button "more civs" to replace a figurehead with another one.

Hope the above makes sense

This is all amazing for so short a time. Have you applied for one of those Firaxis jobs yet?!

Thanks Morgan......
Yes I see what you mean ...
You have to play on a larger world to get that option.
I'm always flat out on a standard world ... I rarely play on huge.Thats why I didn't know that screen.
I'll look into it to see if I can convert it.
If you could do me a favour and attach the save game files that has the bar
available it would be helpful as I dont have a way to test the file without it.

Eva, the hall_o_fame_background.pcx is in the CIV III Advisor Folder.

I changed the techboxes before you uploaded your changes. The Background has a Grid or Border to each tech that is colored 218 0 218 which I added. I made the Colored Bars thicker and softened the tech windows a bit. Also adjusted the Bar colors...note that Green 0 255 0 is transparent IF that is what you intended (so the Background would show through the Bar area) for the tech being researched...I changed it to a Bright, slightly Yellow/Green. Anyway...use if you like :) The Bar Colors are each a solid Color so they can be easily changed as you like.....The zip is just the techboxes.pcx file for the Advisors Folder.

Thanks Vuldacon.....
I really appreciate what you have done.
I loved the new bars but the transition on the metal box was a bit too light and the icons where white and seemed to look funny so what I have done is used your palette ( which was a godsend as I have had a lot of trouble with that screen palette ) and redone them again ....

Below is a comparison ..... screenshot Looks a bit messy as it is compressed.

It looks really good in the game now thanks to you :)
I have included then in the installer to save confusion.Eventually you can just install all the new files and overwrite whatever is in there now.

I have tested the installer and it worked faultlessly all the files where placed correctly and it was very painless.

Just a quick update thanks for trying to help with the hall of fame screens ...
I finally found them in the PTW/ART/ADVISORS folder.
So they are finished now.

The interface icons I said I had not finished in the previous post are now done.Plus lots of buttons and a new wondersplash that really looks great now.

So all looks good now for release ....
Morgan please attach that save so I can include that button in the finished file.

Eva

The screenshot Looks very Good Eva...I thought you were trying for a Curved 3D surface to the windows for some reason so I simply softened the color pixels inside the tech windows to subdue the grainy appearance but I like your
flat finished example better now. Nice Work on everything :goodjob:
...Good Idea waiting until all is completed and checked out before uploading the Final Installer.

The hall_0_fame is in Both Civ III "Vanilla" and PTW ...depending on IF you want the metal interface for the Civ III Original version as well.

Concerning Palettes, combo graphics with borders or frames using PSP:
...the background borders or frames around the tech windows as well as the labels that are 218 0 218 color can be handled is several ways when making changes...With PSP, You can change the color with the Color Replacer Tool first (if you use an existing color already found in your picture like one of the Bar Colors, when you change the color back to the original color, the finished palette will not include the un-used color IF palette space is ever a problem). Change to 16 Million Colors, Change the Magenta background to White 255 255 255 and do what ever changes you want but make sure the Borders are 1 color so they will be easily changed back to their original color.
After you have completed the changes you want, Change back to 256 Colors (use Optimized Octree and Nearest Color...not windows colors) and note the palette...for the techboxes palette you will need 3 extra spaces in the palette for the magenta 255 0 255, the Border frames 218 0 218, and Green 0 255 0 and depending on how many colors you create when working on it all, you should have many blank palette spaces to be able to add the aforementioned colors.
Click Image/Palette/Edit Palette and then click the empty palette squares to choose and place the aforementioned colors in the palette. OK . Select the White background with the color selection tool then reverse the Foreground/Background color boxes and select the Magenta color 255 0 255 you placed in your Palette. Using the Color Replacer Tool, replace the white background with Magenta by double left click. Now select the 218 0 218 Color in your palette and using the Flood Fill Tool (F) with your Picture enlarged so you can easily click ONLY inside a part of the Border/Frame Line, apply or Flood Fill the Original color which will fill all lines because all are connected. The Other Labels can be changed by using the Color Replacer Tool and adjusting the brush size to what ever is fast and comfortable for you...just takes a few seconds if you use a large brush tip. Now the reason we did not simply use the Color Replacer Tool and double left click to Change the Color within the Entire Picture all at one time is because we used an existing color that is also used in our picture in other places and we do not want to change it as well. Otherwise, if the color being replaced is not used in any other area, the Color Replacer Tool is used to change all in a flash.
Magenta 255 0 255 and Green 0 255 0 are Transparent in the game.
IF you ever need more spaces in a palette after changing back to 256 colors from 16 Million colors, do this: Change back to 16 million Colors again, replace the background with pure white 255 255 255 and add a dot of Green and Magenta that you select from the 16 million palette (no need for them to be perfect color, just close is fine). After adding these colors to the background of your picture, Change to 256 Colors and then remove the Green and Magenta shades you added by replacing them with the white background color and again change to 16 million Colors. Now without doing anything, immediately change back to 256 Colors and you will have Black spaces in your palette so you can add the necessary colors. By applying extra Colors when in 16 Million colors, changing to 256 colors, removing the extra colors, changing to 16 million colors and back to 256 colors again...you force the reduction of the overall colors in the palette used for the picture.
Keep the Green 0 255 0 and magenta 255 0 255 at the Bottom Right of your PSP palettes for CIV.
You can also create, name and save palettes in PSP then apply them with techniques to help you accomplish tasks faster...all a matter of mixing and matching combinations of techniques with a little thought to help make all easier and faster. Hope this isn't too confusing...always difficult to write procedures and have them short as well as understandable. Hope this helps you in some way.
