New Conquests Metal setup screens

Hey, will the installer allow you to choose what elements to install? Would be great if I could choose to install everything but the advisors (since I play almost exclusively Rhye's Of Civ and the tech tree there is different.)
Worst comes to worse I'll just manually install everything but the advisors, but I'd rather be lazy and use the installer. =P

Hi .....
Yes that is an issue with people using mods.
I will have a look at maybe providing an option to not install advisors screens.
Otherwise simply the rename the advisor screens before installation, do the full install , then delete the newly installed ones and rename the others back.

A simple bat file would handle that automatically if you can write one.
I wrote a simple bat file to delete my old saved games after a while ..
bad omission not to be able to delete them.

As you can appreciate a lot of work went in the installer and it is very difficult with this type of game to make it compatible for everyone as so many mods exist.

Vuldacon ..Thank you for that great information.... as I said before my paintshop skills are limited and gradient fills in 256/8bit are very hard to make look good at the best of times as the fill has to be done in 16mil/24bit then decreased.

I really wish this game had been designed in a higher res it would make things a whole lot easier.

Well, maybe you could just make an alternative installer that installs everything but the different advisor screens. I don't know how you're doing it, but I know many programs that create installers simply allow you to select what files to put where... So it could probably be pretty easy to simply not include the advisors in one installer.
There are plenty of people who play mods and scenarios almost or completely exclusively, it would be good if we could all enjoy what looks like a great job that you did, without needing to manually delete, copy, and rename our files and all that. But then again I suppose it would be pretty easy to just place copies of all the advisor screens in the art folders of the scenarios I play. =X

Hi ....
you will be delighted to know that the installer now has an optional component feature. It includes an auto backup of your old science screens in case you accidentally overwrite them.

If you would like to zip up your screens Blasphemous and provide a download link I will convert them and if someone else could provide the RAR mod screens I will also add them as an option.May as well do it all at once.

Thanks for the advise Blasphemous it was very helpful.
If others have suggestions dont be shy to ask as a lot of things like Blasphemous idea I have not considered.

I'll upload the science screens once the expansion for RoC is released (should be within a day). I will upload both the RoC and the RoX screens. (The RoC screens I think are almost identical to the regular game's screens, except for a couple techs... Haven't played regular RoC in a while though so I can't exactly recall.)
Anyways, thanks. :D

First thing to do is to try to download the file again - it may have been cut short.

Hi Guys.....
Jub I would not bother downloading the files again.
I ma currently just finishing up the installer and it will be available to download in a day or so.
It will provide the whole interface in a one simple easy to install exe file.
Eva.

Hi Pounder.....
I was wanting to know if you would allow me to include the graphic you created for the global warming thermometer in my installer as it looks very nice on the metal.
Hope to hear back from you.
Thanks. The appropriate credit would be added of course.
Eva.

@ Eva

Go ahead , you don't have to ask. I considered anything posted here is now public domain and can be used/improved by others on this site.

BTW, I don't know if you did it already, but you should use my "Fix for the Transport Window Bug" (see my signature). I'm just thinking that if you used the Firaxis transport windows for your conversion, you will have those nasty leftovers when the window is closed.

it'll be tight, if you can have the regualr interface at first, but when you turn industrial and modern, you get the metal one.
can that be done?

Hi ....
Thanks pounder the thermometer has been added.
As for the transport bug I have completely redesigned the boxes affected by that bug so there is no need to include them.
Make sure you take a look at the finished installer.
If you have a save game that has the "more civs" icon in use I would appreciate having it as I can't test that button out without one.
If you have one please attach it.

Alpha im sorry to say I don't think I can arrange that as that would be part of the coding in the game and apart from not being able to do that ..I wouldnt fiddle with civ code.
But the finished screens look fantastic so give them a try and i think you won't want to go back to beige.

Eva.... any news yet when the soon to be released all in one installer package (phew) is to be released...?

Best wishes and I appreciate all of your hard work. :)

Hi Morgan....
The installer is completely finished.
All I need to do is check it on a games with the "more civs " button visible.
I think you mentioned that earlier.
If ANYONE has a saved game with that button visible please attach it for download so i can test it please.
It is the only thing I need to test still.
The finished installer will be 11 megs.
It contains some great new additions plus some bug fixes.
Thanks
Eva

I'm more than happy to help :)

ps...sorry pounder just noticed a tiny bit I missed at the bottom just re-download it. now.

Hi ....

Its finally finished.
You can now get the low down and download the full installer from this thread

http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=106908

For all who have already downloaded the various zips simply runs the installer and overwrite all the old files.
There are many new improvements and inclusions in the installer.
Plus some bugs fixes as well.

I have removed all the zip file links from the previous posts to avoid confusion.

I hope you all enjoy the new look and its been a fun project.

Eva
