Shah Jahan was not just "a religious zealot". He was a capable leader. Also your quote is ironic since the man built the Taj Mahal, the most famous building in all of India, an an architectural marvel which is often called the most beautiful building in the world.
Taj Mahal is a tomb. Calling it greatest Indian achievement would be a lack of understanding on Indian architecture. The greatest surviving Indian achievement would be the rust proof 100% iron pillar standing in Delhi for 1600 years.
Capability has nothing to do with religious tolerance and freedom of speech. Hitler was a capable ruler too. Why don't we have Germany represented by Hitler?
And yeah right, he "built" a tomb to "mark" his love to his second wife, who died while delivering his 14th child. Sounds very plausible.
